The Host -Toronto
Delicious meal in a beautiful setting on Prince Arthur. Staff were attentive and service was excellent. We are looking forward to returning!
Very good food and friendly service. Good value. Would be happy to return.
My favourite indian restaurant. In Toronto. I recommend.
Very nice ambiance. Good food. Good service.
We came here on a Saturday night. The seating was cramped up. Tables were very close to each other I barely hear my date speak. We asked for a quieter spot but there wasn’t one available. The service felt rushed. However the food was excellent. Lamb chops spot on - one of the best in Toronto. Tandoori chicken was cooked well and the Malabar curry was delicious. Overall dining experience was good but the hosts could have been better. I wouldn’t recommended this place for a date.
I had an 8pm reservation and showed up at 7:45. I wasn't seated until 8:45 and they placed us in this room that was segregated from the rest of the restaurant and looked like a storage room. We ordered our dinner and appetizer and waited 45 before our appetizer came to the table and it was served cold. After we had our cold appetizer it was 30min before our main arrived. This place was very disorganized and nobody knew what the where doing . We had 4 different waiters coming over to use and they didnt communicate with each other. I will not be returning to this restaurant. Left very disappointed on a valentines dinner with my wife.
Great experience, will go again!
The Host was everything we wanted for a Valentine's Day romantic dinner. It felt as though we were in an Indian train station - old school and elegant. The food was hot, very good and served in a timely manner. The staff was very attentive to our needs and we felt taken care of in spite of it being very busy. We will definitely return!
I wont lie this place is alright- probably not the tastiest Indian food but the restaurant is nice, dishes make the meal look fancy. It’s the taste to me that doesn’t cut it. It’s not authentic Indian food. Must be this location as I have been to other Host locations and the food is amazing. This seems to be a washed down Indian restaurant tastes bland - maybe suitable for yorkville crowd.
The food was good in bits and pieces. Me and my wife both felt bloated after the dinner. Need improvement in dishes like dum-aloo, pakora etc.
We waiting for a really long time for any servers to come to ask. In fact, we had to ask to order. No one even offered us water.
The food was okay. We went for Winterlicious. It just seemed very basic. For a restaurant like The Host I would expect food to taste much better. You could go to any small Indian restaurant that’s much cheaper, and the food would be much better. I went to the other location about 6 years ago, and it was amazing! So this experience not being the same was disappointing.
I would possibly return only to try food off the regular menu, when winterlicious and summerlicious are not happening. Maybe they care more about flavour and quality then.
Delicious food as always. Quiet setting. Courteous staff. Would highly recommend.
Excellent food, lovely presentation, large portions and great service with a smile! Thank you.
The service was outstanding. The food was flavorful, presented beautifully and was really delicious. My new favourite restaurant.
A surprise gem in Yorkville/Annex area. Tasty food (not spicy as thought 😂), mine was healthy with veggie content. Desserts on the sweet side. Great decors, we had a lunch on a week day so it wasn't crowded but it can get noisy if too crowded. Great place to rest our feet on a nice day. The sun-room area let the light in, great feature as the sunlight is so welcome on a winter day (and summer days too, of course). Waiter was a bit eager to get the bill settled but all good. Would recommend for sure.
Great food and good environment!
Normal food with great service.
I wrote a review on your site too , the service was that bad that I have to go to all the way to counter to ask server that I need more Nans and kababs , no one came to my table to ask if we need more drinks or food . My friend came from north York to have dinner with me but it was such a bad experience , I asked for 2 butter nans he brought us 1 garlic nan and I told him we never order garlic he said I will bring ur butter nan and he Naveed came back . I spent $104 for 2 people but it was very very bad experience , will never expected this ,I will never come back to host and never recommend anyone . Thanks
Great Food and Superb Service, keeps us coming back to this neighbourhood gem.
Good for groups, especially on Fridays for lunch since they have buffet. We had 13 people and were seated in a way that we can talk to each other easily (four tables put together in 2x2 instead of 4x1). We had a good time!
Tables are small and cramp for seating of 5 people. There was a water leakage in roof when we told the staff about it they had no answers and did nothing about it. Food was okay nothing special but average.
I've always enjoyed The Host, and took six friends, a couple who, it turned out, were not Indian food lovers. We all enjoyed it immensely, had a very good time together, and two people told me they were definitely going to come back. Thank you for a very good meal and very pleasant experience.
Great food and service !
Maybe the best Indian food in Toronto. Went on a Friday at lunch and they had a mostly vegetarian buffet, which was news to me, but had the same quality as when ordering a la carte. Highly recommended.
Always nice to be in a quiet restaurant where you can hold a civilized conversation. The food is OK. We will come back but for the first reason.
Booked for dinner as it was within walking distance of our hotel, which was most fortunate for us. The space is small but cozy and tables are well spaced. Service was attentive but respectful and the food was fabulous. Carefully prepared, healthy portions and excellent value. We look forward to another delicious meal at The Host on our next visit to Toronto!
It was a long wait to be served. The lamb roganjosh has an interesting, complex sauce.
The food was amazing but they forgot to bring us our rice. Also there was a group on the other side of the restaurant that was loud and really obnoxious. Obviously not the restaurant’s fault, but just know that it could be noisy if there is a loud group.
Great food, ambiance and meal. Not our first and won’t be our last. This visit we were a group of 7 and everyone loved the whole experience. Some of us with gluten and lactose issues were assured of menu choices our taste buds would love and our bodies too, and they delivered!
We’ll be back.
I have been going to The Host for many years. I think it is the best Indian restaurant in Toronto.
What a gem! I will certainly come again soon. The sizzling plates carried past us to other diners make our mouths water.
Best Indian food restaurant in Toronto!
It is a great place which has been there forever for a reason and very frequented by Indian people therefore, it means is good and serves rean Indian food. We waited over 20 minutes for a table and we had a reservation!
Great food and attentive service for a very nice Saturday evening meal out
The butter chicken was too sweet and the chunks of meet too big and dry to our taste
Great food and great service !
Great food and service.
Hostess was great, she moved us to our preferred table when it became available. Staff were attentive and friendly.
Very nice food and in a great area. The mango dip and chips was great that they give you once you sit down. They also gave us an appetizer to try and an order of rice with our naan because I couldn’t decide which I wanted.
Very nice menu selection, good food and great service.
