The Ivy Castle View
Food was very quick and rather disappointing. Lacked seasoning and the menu was uninspiring. Service though was excellent, very friendly and attentive staff.
The fish and chips were gorgeous and beautifully cooked. The Lemon Sole was overcooked and pretty tasteless. But great ambiance and service.
Finally on my 4th visit the Ivy got things right. It's expensive for what you get, but a good ambiance and nice enough food.
Perfect as always, amazing food, service, ambience!
We enjoyed our experience and staff friendly but the afternoon tea was over complicated in flavour combinations and we felt the bread was very dry The scones were delicious but the deserts were overly complicated.
Lunch at the Ivy is always a treat, not so much for the food, but for the service. Whilst customer service has generally come on leaps and bounds, the old fashioned expert service delivered by the staff at the Ivy is what makes it stand out for me. They pay attention. You feel looked after, and nothing is too much trouble. Having said that the food is always very good, though I've yet to have anything outstanding, There is a slightly 'chainy' feel about the menus, and some of the offerings. But this is what keeps the prices reasonable. The Ivy will remain an affordable treat venue for us to feel a bit special occasionally.
First visit and will be back again soon, thank you.
A wonderful lunchtime experience, from the decor, front of house, table service, bar service through to the delicious food and drinks. Fabulous atmosphere, and really enjoyed our treat! Thank you everyone, superb.
I had the eggs benedict, and my companion had smoked salmon. Both dishes where lovely. The service was great, and a lovely surprise of a little fruit bowl with a candle and a chocolate to say happy birthday to my friend. A lovely experience.
service was amazing! staff were always one step ahead of us
Good and service is good. We went for our anniversary meal and were packed in next to others either side of us. It didn’t make the occasion feel very special at all and it seemed they just wanted to get as many tables crammed in the space as possible.
We were also immediately told that the table would be required at 8.45 when our table was booked for 7pm. Hardly enough time for a relaxed 3 course meal. I don’t remember seeing this at the rime of booking either.
The atmosphere, team, food and drinks are top tier. Can’t wait for my next visit - thank you for a wonderful experience!
It’s always a treat to go to The Ivy. It never lets you down. From the ambiance to the staff to the food.
I think if you’re going to offer a children’s menu then things like the gravy should be plain and rather than the rich flavour you use for the adult food. Also the duck starter portion size is unbelievably small.
Had a lovely lunch with my daughter. The food was wonderful & the service was excellent. Beautifully decorated & a very relaxed atmosphere. I can’t wait to go again
We like visiting this restaurant and invariably enjoy a good meal. However, this time the fire alarm went off three times and the communication from the staff as to what was happening was very poor. As the alarms were going off automatic fire screens lowered, dividing the restaurant into separate areas, spooking at least one claustrophobic customer. There was a complete lack of leadership from the restaurant’s numerous managers (they suddenly became invisible) despite a recorded message telling us to leave. Only when we were paying the bill did we find out that it was a fire alarm test organised by the shopping centre’s management. Perhaps they could have told us?
We recently visited the Ivy, we had an amazing time. The staff was welcoming and very professional, the food was delicious. We are definitely coming back!!!!!!
Wife's birthday with friends. Service and ambience was lovely. A great night
A special place to dine. Service is always excellent and food never disappoints
Excellent location, fantastic views. However, service was slow compared to Ivy Cobham, food was cold and the waitress forgot to put the order through so waited an hour and a half before we had our main meal.
Beautiful restaurant in the heart of Guildford with outlook looking out onto the castle with a pleasant airflow and deco on ambiance.
Staff are very courteous and efficient and the food presentation and quality was excellent.
A lovely evening at The Ivy - food was fantastic as was the service. Made every effort to accommodate dietary requirements with the vegetarian menu. A fab dining experience.
All the staff really helpful and a lovely sunny evening brought indoors via the open window
Good food and a really enjoyable evening
Food was lovely though sandwiches were a little cold but probably straight from fridge. Initially, only half a cup of quite stewed tea brought but they were happy to top up with hot water. Would recommend tea review policy 😀.
Cakes were delicious and scones warm and crumbly. Overall, a pleasant way to celebrate our 35th wedding anniversary.
Great atmosphere/busy restaurant even on a Monday lunch time. The doors were open with lovely view to castle. Service excellent, food good. Very good drinks menu - pricey but worth it.
Only negative was being told that table was needed in 2 hours 10 mins the minute we arrived.
Wonderful waitress. Fantastic food and amazing surroundings.
Was one of the girls birthdays and normally a small birthday desert comes out, but it didn’t which was a shame - but was still a lovely meal
We felt a bit rushed and we in and out in just over an hour. The food was superb. We lost count of the number of times our waitress said "Amazing" :-)
Food and service excellent . Drinks were slightly on the expensive side. We were dining out with my parents who found it hard to hear over the noise level. Maybe turn the music volume down one .
Celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary at the Ivy in Guildford we had super friendly service and the meal was excellent as usual. Can’t wait to go back for our next celebration…
Really great staff and service. Very knowledgeable on the gluten free foods. Great experience
Lovely location and great food. The service team were very pleasant and efficient. I’m sure we will be back soon
Whilst our food was very nice, the service was not great and we waited 15 minutes to order our first drink. This was compounded by the fact that when we arrived we were told we had to leave our table at 7.15 so that only left 1.5 hours to eat 3 courses and have a coffee!
We had a lovely, and beautifully presented, afternoon tea. The staff were efficient and helpful but they were very busy.
It was bad weather and they were unable to use the outside dining area which made the indoor space quite crowded
Fantastic atmosphere great food service was excellent attentive but not intrusive booked at short notice would definitely recommend
As always food, drink and service was outstanding.
Pleasant experience, wish they would do breakfast during the week. Then it would be less busy and better service at weekends!
The overall experience was one of excellence and the focus of all the staff was to give a dining experience to be remembered and want to go back.
Anyone walking in you immediately feel the professionalism, attention to detail and if they can accommodate your request they will.
Such an amazing experience, the food was amazing, all of the staff made us feel really welcome. Especially the young man who took us to our table. Only thing we would of liked our table for a bit longer!!
At some points the music got quite loud so if you struggle to hear then maybe this place isn’t for you.
The food was amazing and the decor is very cool!
