The Ivy Castle View
Great food and service but our evening was ruined by the loud ‘dance’ type music. Background music yes but if I need a rocking evening I’ll go clubbing!
An excellent meal with attentive service. Could not ask for more.
If it wasn't for the atmosphere then I am not sure I would go back. The food was expensive for what is was. The service was slow and it was very hot in the restaurant.
Another amazing experience at The Ivy last night. The food is fabulous and the staff are so attentive and friendly. Would definitely recommend.
They advertised the specials on the table but they weren’t available when I ordered. The wine I wanted was not available. No sign of masks, no air con which is a co I’d requirement indoors. And it was way too hot. Tables were too close together
Have already recommended this restaurant to a friend!
The best restaurant experience we’ve had for at least 2 years, thank you!
We know how hard it is to get staff so were particularly impressed by the standard of service. Elsewhere it has been generally poor.
Avoid if vegetarian or vegan. Went for my sisters birthday for the afternoon tea. We’re vegetarian and the quality of food we received was very poor. The waiter then said he had assumed we were vegan and himself acknowledged the vegan afternoon tea we got was not great there and limited. Only sandwich that was available was plain cucumber. Definitely not value for money.
The ivy Guildford was fantastic. Wonderful food, great staff and a lovely atmosphere. It is quite expensive but you certainly get what you pay for. Will definitely be back for more special occasions.
When the staff, are pleasant and hospitable, it definitely enhances your dining experience. The staff at the 'Ivy' (yesterday), were all exemplary. We really enjoyed being higher than street level, as we felt we were away from it all!! Overall, our breakfast, was very relaxing. Will definitely return to the 'Ivy', at Guildford.
Menu could be more exciting. Service was good though.
Attentive service and good food. Maybe 25% - 30% more than we would have spent at Wagamama’s for a family meal, but 100% better dining experience and well worth it.
We attended the ivy as an anniversary night out and we weren't disappointed lovely atmosphere and great food, and the waitress couldn't of been more helpful. Really happy
Service food and ambiance amazing. We had such a lovely waitress, amber, who looked after us amazingly from start to finish.
The lady who served us was charming and the food delicious. It was a bit noisy and warm. Probably not helped by the fact that all the doors/windows were closed due to strong winds. Overall really enjoyed it though and would highly recommend.
I have recently visited the Ivy Asia so I thought it would be nice to try the Ivy castle view. I booked a table for a friend and I as it was her birthday. The restaurant is amazing and has this 1920s art deco feel. The staff were great and we were seated straight away. The ambiance was fantastic, it was nice to see the place full and buzzing. Our waiter was really nice and very attentive. The food was fantastic and well priced. We both ordered the fish&chips with the zucchini fries to start (Hugh portion so good to share) . The fish was really fresh and I can not fault a thing. They even arranged a little birthday profiterole with a candle. I will definitely be back and would recommend. Thank you
The food and service was great. It was very busy but we were a bit surprised that the tables were close and most people, including staff, chose not to wear a mask when moving around.
Delicious food and excellent service. Thank you for helping us celebrate our silver wedding anniversary.
Nice menu but they have too many people in there. Slow service, overcooked scallops, had to ask to order and chase drinks orders, and expensive for the overall experience
Arrived at 10 mins to 1 and immediately told we would have to vacate our table by 3.0. Not a good greet! 2 of us ( out of 6) did not receive our starters until 2 o’clock despite being reminded twice. The service continued to be bad, placing our wine not near enough to reach the bottle ourselves but not noticing our glasses needed refilling until one of us got up. Asking if we wanted choc truffles which we refused. Truffles then arrived and we thought they were complimentary because of bad service and then being charged for them. We decided not to argue any more as we were fed up and did not want it to spoil our long awaited reunion any more than it had already. Have enjoyed The Ivy before but will not be rushing back , which is a shame.
Great service, very poor quality steak which was too expensive for quality.
Great experience, good value we will definitely be going back
Lovely spot for breakfast and good service. I had the vegetarian breakfast with a side of smoked salmon and it was delicious.
Food was very quick and rather disappointing. Lacked seasoning and the menu was uninspiring. Service though was excellent, very friendly and attentive staff.
The fish and chips were gorgeous and beautifully cooked. The Lemon Sole was overcooked and pretty tasteless. But great ambiance and service.
Finally on my 4th visit the Ivy got things right. It's expensive for what you get, but a good ambiance and nice enough food.
Perfect as always, amazing food, service, ambience!
We enjoyed our experience and staff friendly but the afternoon tea was over complicated in flavour combinations and we felt the bread was very dry The scones were delicious but the deserts were overly complicated.
Lunch at the Ivy is always a treat, not so much for the food, but for the service. Whilst customer service has generally come on leaps and bounds, the old fashioned expert service delivered by the staff at the Ivy is what makes it stand out for me. They pay attention. You feel looked after, and nothing is too much trouble. Having said that the food is always very good, though I've yet to have anything outstanding, There is a slightly 'chainy' feel about the menus, and some of the offerings. But this is what keeps the prices reasonable. The Ivy will remain an affordable treat venue for us to feel a bit special occasionally.
Terrace if it’s sunny, indoors if it’s chilly. Lovely ambiance at this branch of The Ivy
First visit and will be back again soon, thank you.
A wonderful lunchtime experience, from the decor, front of house, table service, bar service through to the delicious food and drinks. Fabulous atmosphere, and really enjoyed our treat! Thank you everyone, superb.
Our waitress Lovella looked after us very well and her recommendations for drinks and food were appreciated and lived up to expectations. She made us feel welcome and valued customers. Thank you
I had the eggs benedict, and my companion had smoked salmon. Both dishes where lovely. The service was great, and a lovely surprise of a little fruit bowl with a candle and a chocolate to say happy birthday to my friend. A lovely experience.
service was amazing! staff were always one step ahead of us
Good and service is good. We went for our anniversary meal and were packed in next to others either side of us. It didn’t make the occasion feel very special at all and it seemed they just wanted to get as many tables crammed in the space as possible.
We were also immediately told that the table would be required at 8.45 when our table was booked for 7pm. Hardly enough time for a relaxed 3 course meal. I don’t remember seeing this at the rime of booking either.
The atmosphere, team, food and drinks are top tier. Can’t wait for my next visit - thank you for a wonderful experience!
It’s always a treat to go to The Ivy. It never lets you down. From the ambiance to the staff to the food.
I think if you’re going to offer a children’s menu then things like the gravy should be plain and rather than the rich flavour you use for the adult food. Also the duck starter portion size is unbelievably small.
Had a lovely lunch with my daughter. The food was wonderful & the service was excellent. Beautifully decorated & a very relaxed atmosphere. I can’t wait to go again
We like visiting this restaurant and invariably enjoy a good meal. However, this time the fire alarm went off three times and the communication from the staff as to what was happening was very poor. As the alarms were going off automatic fire screens lowered, dividing the restaurant into separate areas, spooking at least one claustrophobic customer. There was a complete lack of leadership from the restaurant’s numerous managers (they suddenly became invisible) despite a recorded message telling us to leave. Only when we were paying the bill did we find out that it was a fire alarm test organised by the shopping centre’s management. Perhaps they could have told us?
