The Ivy Dawson Street
I go here for breakfast. Opens at 7:00.am., nice food, grea place to start work on the laptop and meet business associates. The prices have gone up. There used to be a complimentary second coffee and their own brand soarkling water at €1.50 which actually made it great value. Sparking water is a branded bottle now at 3.50 plus no comp 2nd coffee, which now makes it pretty expensive. The Ivy has had some adverse publicity lately, this won't help. It's a pity
Great service, delicious food and lovely atmosphere. We tried dinner menu and definitely going back for brunch
Amazing food, great vegetarian options. Service was outstanding. Overall 10/10
Great atmosphere, delicious food and pleasant friendly staff.
No children's menu which is ok except made no effort to accommodate. 17 euro for a plain burger and chips . Took the shine off a lovely meal
we had to send back a terrible fish and chips. doughy batter and well overcooked chips. when replaced 15 minutes later the quality was just as bad, this meant a family dinner left one diner eating alone. not very pleasant. Chicken milanese was overcooked. Burger was dry , too lean and over minced. chips were well over cooked.
Kids chicken and chips was bone dry.
Very disappointing family celebration.
The atmosphere and decor looked stunning. Helpful hosts but waitress was inexperienced. Food nice but nothing special
The afternoon tea volume was on the light side. The service was excellent and the champers delish.
Great food but absolutely horrible service
Food was very good, steak well prepared, chips were above expectations. Probably the tables were too close so you don't get a feeling of intimacy. The overall atmosphere was nice, vibrant and colourful place. Would recommend for a night out with friends/ guests.
Excellent food and service and a very versatile menu. The décor is gorgeous also. The staff were friendly and attentive.
Steak sent back because u know what the chef does not understand a simple request. (Well done) rest my case .....
Beautiful setting. Great food. Good value. Staff seemed stressed and confused about orders and openly bickering at serving station due to confusion. It didnt take away from a good night but i would suggest addressing lack of management and professionalism by management.
Nice relaxing atmosphere. Nice decor. Pleasant and chatty wiater. Staff generally very friendly. Food very tasty.. Will be back soon.
1 of my party's meal came out cold so it was replaced but took 20 mins so they had to eat alone, the meal was taken off the bill but it was not great, it only needed to be heated up. Otherwise our experience was good.
Had a lovely meal at The Ivy! The place is beautiful and the service is great. The waiter even brought over a small little birthday/anniversary treat for the table which I thought was a lovely touch 😊
Definitely not what I expect it. Place is beautiful but food was avarage, nothing special.
My partner ordered fish and chips and the fish wasn’t fully cooked and you were able to see the raw butter. When the waiter asked if everything was ok, we told him and they did nothing about it. They just sent us the bill like we said nothing.
Very disappointed, won’t come back and won’t recommend it.
Service was good, but had to wait for our reserved table to be ready.
Food was nice, had a hair in my dessert which wasn’t ideal but it was removed from the bill without me having to ask.
My first & last most probably experience at The Ivy Dawson Street wasn't as pleasant as expected to be. We booked a table for two persons at 22:30 last Saturday night, 16/3/2019. We arrived with a small 15 minutes delay but the staff were more than happy to help us & accommodate our needs for a beautiful dining night. The waiter named Scott excellent & very professional helped us order & everything was great until midnight. Suddenly at 00:10 the music stopped, the lights turned on destroying the nice chilled atmosphere forcing us to feel that the Management wanted everyone to leave like we were in a Pub at 02:30! We hadn't finished our main course when this happened & the feeling for me & my partner was not nice at all. When I requested to speak to the Manager, a smiley man appeared who wanted to show me that he listened my feedback but his answers showed me the opposite. When I explained to him that I was a Manager in a 5* Hotel & this is not nice turning on the lights of the restaurant at midnight, stopping the music and technically ''forcing'' your clients to leave, especially when the official closing time for Saturday night is at 01:30, Manager's answer was that ''I am the Manager & I can close the restaurant whenever I want''. When I replied to him back mentioning that ''if you were the Owner yes but I don't believe that the Owner of the Restaurant wants his/her clients to feel like how we felt and that you were most probably looking for a new job if he/she knew that'', the Manager smiled and left without saying a word. This is a review for the Owner of the specific restaurant, the Management needs to be updated/trained about the Customer Satisfaction! I paid 150 euro for a table of two & for less than 90 minutes dining. I care less about the money, I mention the cost only to show that I wanted to spend and enjoy my Saturday night dining in a fine restaurant not in a Pub! At midnight you cannot do that, just because the Manager wants to go home early, sorry...
Amazing! Loved it, totally recommend it.
On waiting for my change to arrive, I was told I wasn’t owed any change as the waiter believed I had handed in a €20 note along with a gift voucher, when in fact I had handed in a €50 note and gift voucher. When I explained I had in fact handed in a €50 note, the waiter said he would have to check the cameras. The supervisor returned some time later with the change. I was mortified and made out to be a liar by the waiter. Awful experience and won’t be returning due to this. Handled unprofessionally.
My first experience dining at The Ivy Dublin was everything I was hoping for. Wonderful booth table for my party of three, fabulous decor with vibrant colour and perfect lighting. The interior design is stunning and the food was sensational. The staff were very attentive even though the restaurant was extremely busy on this st Patrick’s weekend.
This was a girls night for my Birthday and the girls were as impressed as much as I was.
I look forward to returning with my Husband soon.
Beautiful place, very nice food and desert☺,friendly staff
The restaurant setting is beautiful with the correct amount of atmospheric noise and hustle and bustle. The food was absolutely fab, portions are not the biggest so perhaps a side dish is a must for those with bigger appetites. The wait staff were all so lovely, efficient and good at their job. We had an early dinner at 4pm on a Saturday and really enjoyed it and will return again very soon.
Amazing as always !
Ciara L was my server she was so attentive and bubbly, amazing staff . Thanks again for a great day at the ivy !
Lovely afternoon, food was nice. Staff were abrupt at times but overall were helpful.
Would be nice to see more vodka cocktails, menu was predominantly gin. I asked could they make me a vodka cocktail and was told I could have a vodka tonic.
Service was very poor which put a dampener on the day as the food was lovely.
Great service, friendly and helpful staff, amazing cocktails, and the food was wonderful too. I’ll be back.
Beautiful restaurant and lovely service, however food was just ok. I expected something extra.
Had a really great night here with two work colleagues. Food and service excellent not to mention the interior. My only issue is with the staff tips. The Ivy need to sort it out.
The food is only ok, but it is very reasonably priced so you get what you pay for. The chocolate bomb was delicious.
The service was fantastic, at the bar and at the table. Attentive but not over bearing, helpful and engaging.
When we ordered the bill a different person to our waiter, someone we had no interaction for the entire time we were there came to the table with the card machine. This made us a little uncomfortable after all the press coverage about taking tips from staff. We gave a cash tip directly to the waiter afterwards.
The staff were the best thing about the meal.
Quite disappointed by the afternoon tea service, no tablecloth, had to go & ask for plates as none were brought when the food arrived. Had to ask for spoons for one of the desserts which was in a pot. Asked for fresh tea and it never arrived. Really poor & not what you’d expect from The Ivy.
Food was very nice but service was terrible! No teas/coffees even offered with afternoon tea, we had to wait for about 10 mins before we could catch someone to ask. Also no plates brought with it, again had to ask. Also slow to bring the bill and then wait for a member of management to bring the card machine to pay.
Had a lovely birthday dinner however the whole protest with the menus with details on how the staff are treated really put a dampner on the evening :( my guests and I were really confused and then after reading all the info from the protesters were upset we paid our tip on the credit card which our server wouldn't receive.
Waited 3 months for this reservation and just ended awfully.
My eight time to dine in the Ivy & it was as fabulous as ever.
From the minute you walk in the door you feel that you are somewhere really special. The ambience and atmosphere was buzzing... the service was very attentive and the food delicious. Also, with such a large range on the menu, it is as expensive or reasonable as you choose to make it. Looking forward to going back.
Amazing ambiance. Gorgeous food - pricier than normal dining where I would rate food similarly but a great spot for a treat. The setting made it worth it - great for special occasion.
The area I was seated in was cold, the evening was cold and damp and I could not feel any heat inside.
My order was taken quickly but the food was very slow to arrive. Starter: Prawn Cocktail contained 5 prawns and an awful lot of Lettuce no way value at €11.95 mains just OK, desert Warm Cappuccino Cake which was cold.
My second visit here and much worse than my first.
Front of house girl was ridiculously poor at her job. She could not find my reservation and I eventually had to show her my OpenTable email. Then it transpired that my guest had already arrived and been seated at the table. She delayed me for a full 5 minutes at reception making me 5 minutes late for a business meeting. The place was empty and she could have given me any table.
My guest said she had been subjected to the same treatment.
A challenged individual who soured the entire experience.
Then the wait staff said only the manager could the bill payment - not the fault of the wait staff and clearly caused by the well publicized dispute over tips. Another long wait before the manager eventually appeared - not good.
The Ivy needs to improve its managers and the front of house person - sooner rather than later - and before it is too late!
