The Ivy Dawson Street
First time going here for brunch. We normally go for dinner and the experience is always fabulous. However with brunch, the service was slow and not up to standard. We asked for condiments and water and these were brought to another table and not ours. So we had to ask again. Water did not serve until after our meal. Food could have been hotter too. Disappointing meal from a normally outstanding venue
From the minute we entered until we left, the staff were amazing. Ambience fantastic and should a lovely treat
Always a great atmosphere / ambience. Fab service, never rushed.
Great service and ambiance as always - very well looked after by Jamie and the team.
Great early bird with my boyfriend. The atmosphere in the restaurant is the best part, overall it was a great experience.
Portion size a little on small side. We weren’t offered breads which I would have liked and weren’t given opportunity to have coffee after the meal which I had wanted.
My daughter had her bus card taken from her coat pocket while her coat was in the cloakroom
Beautiful place. Food takes a while to make but it states amazing & staff was nice. Have your money ready it’s expensive
Very poor service, felt ignored, food arrived with wrong sauce, took an age to order two glasses of wine, one of which didn’t arrive at all.
Ambience is wonderful, staff professional, friendly and service brilliant but I have been there twice in the last 6 days and the food was very disappointing . The cod main didn’t taste like fish and the burger was of the frozen supermarket variety.
We had a reservation for 7pm in the Ivy, and arrived at 7:12 - the delay was because we had to wait to get a taxi as it was raining. when we arrived we apologised for our delay, but were greeted with a "well you are late so we had to give your table away" by the gentleman at the reception area. I advised him that we had a confirmed reservation, and he responded with a "wait here - I will see what i can do". We were left standing there for 3-4 mins before he returned, and said he had "found us a table". As we entered the restaurant, there were at least 9 or 10 empty tables.
Service was very average, however the staff were very friendly. The most notable thing was, as they decanted our red wine, the staff member turned the bottle upside down instead of taking consideration forany sediment in the bottle.
At the end of our meal, a staff member came over and said "We need the table back in 20 minutes, so please pay your bill". When I made the reservation, there was no limit to how long we had the table, but we were so annoyed that we thought we would finish our wine at the bar and then leave. The table remained empty for c.25 minutes, which just added to our frustration.
The really annoying thing is the food was quite good, but all this was overshadowed by the arrogance of a) the young gentleman at the reception area, and b) the general attitude of staff when it came to ushering us off our table.
I will NOT return, and would advise others to adopt a similar policy until they address staffing issues. i appreciate it was 2 weeks before Christmas, but hope that people will 9like me) vote with their wallets and not return here.
Shocking food, shocking treatment by one of the managers who had a horrendous attitude. Waitress tried her best but got zero support. That was my last visit to the Ivy as a result!!
The Ivy Dawson is a great restaurant for special occasions and great indoor scenery. Not the best deal if you want volume at a moderate price. As a vegan with other dietary restrictions, The Ivy was great! Had a vegan/vegetarian menu and catered to my needs.
Visiting from Boston. Had a great solo dining experience at Ivy. My table was fantastic overlooking Dawson Street and interior of restaurant. Curry dish was yummy and service was attentive and relaxed. One disappointing fact. I had to wait at bar for just over 30 min even though I had a reservation. Met a nice couple from Dublin while I was waiting so it worked out fine.
First impressions not good . It would have been nice to be greeted with a smile on arrival 😊 instead we felt under a complement straight away . No one asked could they take our coats or said hello.. never lifted there heads in fact. So with that we had to put our coats behind us in the middle of the plants. After that our experience was lovely. First impressions are important I would think 🤔
Enjoyed the day and will come again aaaaaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
Food was nice but a bit on the tepid side. Felt rushed but it is Christmas!
I absolutely love The Ivy. Food fabulous, excellent staff and always a great buzz in the restaurant. It is fantastic to have such a good restaurant in the centre of Dublin that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. Keep up the good work. Merry Christmas to all
Great, fab food . Excellent experience
Fabulous as always, lovely food and great service.
Seamless. Great food. Great decor. Great service. Highly recommend
Way to expensive for what you get €5 extra for a tough minutes steak .and drinks exorbitant price.sorry won’t be there again .
I have been to the Ivy many times and always enjoyed my visits and my latest one was no different. Your staff are fantastic, and I always enjoy your food. However yesterday when I relayed to my colleagues what a lovely time I had, both of them said they would be uncomfortable going to the Ivy Dublin because of the way the staff we’re treated. I had to my shame slipped my mind.
So I hate to say it but I would think twice about going to the Ivy in future, and you know what the staff are one of your best selling points ☹️
We're loved our night and you gave my son a little cake for his 19th birthday which was very cute
Great service and meal. Pity about the service charge. And we left a tip as well. Didn’t realise till we got home.
Thank you for an incredible vegan meal! One of the nicest vegan dishes that I have ever had. Everything from the succulent olives, sublime fresh, salted bread and divine sweet potato curry was amazing! I will be back very, very soon. Superb service also and wine!
My Wife and I Had a really enjoyable meal here. Staff very attentive and the food was gorgeous. Really enjoyed my whiskey creme brûlée.
Will definitely return. Need to book a table well in advance to avoid disappointment.
We had a booking for 3.30pm but were not seated at our table until 4.10pm and no one came to take our order when we were seated. Once we did get served the experience improved
4 of us dined at 3pm on Saturday. The waiter who took our orders pulled the menus from us angrily. They had no champagne by the glass, how can that be the case and they didn’t have the Dublin blonde beer. Before the waiter left, I think he may have realized his behavior was not good as he came over before he left saying that he was tired. The place is lovely but does not make up for the short falls we encountered
Had a really nice meal and will definitely be back on my next visit to Dublin.
Food and atmosphere is incredible but we were sat down over an hour after our table was booked & the waiter was very abrupt and rude. Was a shame as we were looking forward to this for my friends 21st birthday.
Really enjoyed a late night dinner at The Ivy, enjoyed a great fillet steak, a nice bottle of red recommended by the waiter and a few too many cocktails.
Great Christmas buzz about the place as well.
In short, the food was lovely but the service was almost non existent. Wouldn’t go back purely down to the terrible service which is a pity.
Excellent- really enjoyable treat on weekend away before Christmas Thank you for such a wonderful table.
Buzzy and festive
Had lovely tea and scones with my friend to celebrate her baby due in Jan
Interiors are the highlight of the restaurant. Food is mediocre and nothing outstanding. Lack of knowledge among staff re: allergens. Service was slow. Nice atmosphere but wouldn’t return for food!
Food cold, tea cold. This is third time visiting and can't understand why food is not piping hot.
I think the problem is it takes too long to go from kitchen to table. I asked for a slice of bread and I had food eaten , tea drank, paper read when bread came.
Great decor nice ambience really poor service good food
