The Ivy Dawson Street
The venue is beautiful and it has a nice warm atmosphere despite it being a very large building. The staff were very friendly.
However, the food was really not up to scratch considering the price. I could go to another restaurant anywhere in town and get the better version of the same dish for half the price.
As usual, great food, excellent service, a bit noisy, but a bit expected for a full crowd on a Saturday night, always a sense of occasion at The Ivy!
9:00 pm booking. Took nearly an hour from finishing our starter before our main course arrived. Resident DJ played music so loud, it was difficult to hold a conversation at the table. My main course (black cod cooked in a banana leaf) was bland and worse still, only lukewarm. The truffle and Parmesan chips were so greasy I couldn’t eat them. I should have complained but when I weighed up the negative effect it would have on my evening and the additional delay it would cause to me actually eating my meal, I decided it wasn’t worth the trouble.
They took ages to clear our plates away. Very slow taking drink orders. This was my first experience of The Ivy and quite probably my last.
Food was terrible we both had steak which was tasteless the peppercorn sauce was also tasteless with no peppercorns felt like was made from a packet!
Our starters of mozzarella and crab was also tasteless mozzarella was runny and the crab was like eating porridge!
It’s a lovely place but was so disappointed with the food
Would recommend it to a friend for the look of the place
Food was lovely but didn’t
State that the main meals didn’t come
With sides , had we of known we would
I’d have some veg etc.. as
It turned out to be a small portion
We were there to celebrate our friends baby shower. The staff were attentive and super professional, the food was superb and the atmosphere was wonderful. I am currently choosing a date to bring my hubby!! Everyone should get to experience the taste of the chocolate bomb desert...amazing!
So the waiter got my order wrong . ordered eggs Benedict with avocado but got served with smoked salmon. My friend s side dish was served late. Hollandaise sauce is way too little and the base bread is an american muffin like bread instead of brioche. Not something i d expect. Desert were both really nice. Service was not efficient , often see waiters running around and hard to catch their attention. The ambience is great they charge a standard service fee which is 10%+ which is too much for that service.
Great decor and vibe, food quite good. Service not the best.
We went to the Ivy for a birthday celebration! 2 days before, I called to change the booking from3 to 4 people and was told quite abruptly that was not possible - the only time left2209 hrs. I explained we had booked a long time ago etc! I was told to call back in the morning and try then! I was not impressed.
In the course of trying to book somewhere else through OpenTable, I managed to book a table for 4 at the Ivy.
The food was really excellent, the service very good! However, the music is quite loud so difficult to have a conversation other than with the person right beside you.
1st time experiencing The Ivy - will 100% recommend & come back!
Food was good, service was poor. We were rushed through our meal but then sat at the table for an hour after eating, having a drink, so the rush was totally unnecessary. The table beside us had the plates cleared before they were all finished eating!
Fab as usual, great atmosphere, great crowd, yet to disappoint
Food was desperate and came out way too quick for me to believe it was freshly cooked. My steak was full of fatty fibers I couldn't even cut through it. I left half of it behind and the waitress never even noticed. The chips were cooked about 3 times. The lady at the front desk didn't even say goodbye. Desperate will never return.
Great atmosphere and good food! Reasonably priced too!
From the sincere greeting at the door to the totally professional service which was unhurried but efficient to the excellent food. Faultlessl.
Fabulous place! The service was top notch. My only gripe was the burger, it wasn't great, the meat tasted over salted and like it was cooked from frozen. Other than that it was fabulous and will be back.
Gorgeously decorated, lovely vibe and nice service. Food was very good - the prawn and monkfish curry was delicious and the steak tartare went down a treat. Only downfall was the state of the ladies toilet which was unacceptable on the two occasions I visited during the evening. Attention to detail is everything if you want people to come back!
Food took over a hour to come, then the order was wrong. Overall very bad experience as staff not trained in properly.
Went with my Husband for our wedding anniversary and had a fantastic time. The staff could not have been nicer and the food was fab.
Excellent serves and food. The atmosphere is spectacular...
Excellent as always
The Ivy is a gorgeous restaurant with excellent food.
I do enjoy atmosphere at Ivy. I have been critical since opening of service and poor staff. However, this time staff were extremely friendly. I hope it wasn't because it was breakfast and restaurant wasn't busy!
I will be back again.
Very underwhelming experience. Very expensive for what you get. Will not be going back.
Waitress was nowhere to be found. Worst service I’ve had there and yet it doesn’t stop them from adding a service charge.
Really lovely experience, beautiful ambiance, gorgeous food, good value, excellent service! Looking forward to returning!
Fantastic food, gorgeous cocktails and brilliant staff. We thoroughly enjoyed our time, thank you!
IT was a special 60th birthday celebration, waited 10 minutes for a waiter ,then he disappeared waited another 10 minutes for a different waiter who eventually took the order .Forgot onions for main course for fillet steak .Had spotted 2 junkies sitting on your tables outside no attempt to remove them dispite staff walking past them. Not a very good impression .I am a member of the Garda .While having our main course the same 2 junkies entered the restaurant could not believe how they were allowed enter I stoped eating my main course and informed a lady manager of staff they were in the restaurant as it was obivious they were going to rob from a client. Very poor security I thought management would at least come to our table to thank us even offer a complimentry drink. Waiter then forgot my dessert saying he did not hear me ordering one Overall a very disappointing experience to celebrate my 60th birthday as I had recommended the Ivy to friends. Perhaps you can respond
Second time and as excellent as ever. Delicious food, great service and a beautiful looking restaurant.
Great service! We were early to arrive but were offered a seat at the bar until our table was ready. Bartender was very friendly even though the restaurant was extremely busy. One of the party ordered steak which was cooked rare and not medium as requested - staff responded really nicely and helpfully; it wasn’t an issue for the steak to be brought back to the kitchen and staff were very apologetic over this. This was my third visit and I will return again.
Lovely atmosphere, although busy staff were attentive enough. Food lovely cooked as requested presentation lovely. Bar drinks first cocktail which i really enjoyed arrived with slice of grapefruit sprig of rosemary as described on menu however the next 3 I ordered at the table and at the bar had a slice of lemon I found this irratating as the taste was different.
Thorough enjoyed it. !!! Will definitely be there again
Decor was bright and welcoming. Service was great. A bit noisy. Food was good, our cocktail was delicious.. loved the bar area.
Food was fantastic. Service was excellent we were not rushed and were well looked after.
This was my second visit to The Ivy Dawson Street. Having had a fantastic experience here last August, I invited family to dine for brunch this past Saturday.
The host staff were so very welcoming and the lady who took our payment was very personable.
Our server didn’t seem to have the assistance he required to serve the section he was overseeing.
After our two guests arrived and were seated, we waited a very long time for our orders to be taken. One member of our party had to ask twice for the last part of his meal to be delivered.
We tried to order drinks on a number of occasions but were over looked.
It has likely been noted already that the ladies bathrooms were a mess. I say it has likely been noted as a number of woman in the lineup to use the beautifully decorated bathrooms had also commented upon it. I had to clean down the sink are before use and the bins were overflowing. I tried to speak to a manager to let them know but couldn’t find anyone.
We were asked at the end of our meal how the food was. The food was nice but the service unfortunately on this occasion really let down the experience.
I did really appreciate the mini Happy Birthday dessert plate delivered to our Birthday girl.
Decor is fabulous!! Food is amazing. Would highly recommend
It was a lovely evening with friends from Canada. I felt a little uneasy at the bar when we arrived. Bar staff were busy and looked a little rushed and I didn’t feel they greeted us in a way that made us feel comfortable. Everything else was really good
Excellent food and lovely service. Full marks to the Ivy!
A real treat if visiting Dublin. Could not fault the service. Food excellent, Staff were very friendly. Can’t wait to head back
Special place! Food, service and ambience were wonderful!
