The Lucky Monk
I had a club salad with chicken and my chicken was raw. I informed my waitress and the manager deducted $5 for the chicken. Do they realize how sick raw chicken can make someone? The $5 deduction was kind of a joke because that left me paying $12 for lettuce and jicama. I have been to this restaurant many times and this is my worst experience.
always a great experience! the food and drinks are delicious.
Went for Fathers Day busy but many empty tables . Kitchen was slow almost 45 mins and a salad came out wrong . When asked how long food would be they said “well we’re busy” when salad came out wrong “said well we’re busy”... I bet most had reservations so if you can’t handle a crowd cap the reservations . So one In group didn’t get to eat as by the time we tracked someone down others were almost done. Have been many times so know this isn’t the norm. Had it been our first time may have been our last .. everyone who got their food really enjoyed it...
The service was ok but the food was lack luster. We ordered a pizza that had chopped basil on it but the leaves were still whole with knife marks on them like they were suppsed to be separated and chopped. The Reuben was warm at best, I'm guessing due to waiting under a heat lamp for the pizza. I brought my fiancée here for her birthday and called ahead to have them bring out a surprise birthday confection/donut at the end of the meal. Not only did the hostess announce it was a birthday with our reservation as we checked in to ruin the surprise but the end of the meal dessert was never delivered to us.
The visit was much less than impressive.
Great menu. There's something for everyone. Service was top notch.
It was great. Our waitress was excellent. Our food came out perfectly cooked. There were 4 of us out for dinner and we loved the entire evening.
Always have a great time at this restaurant. It's a little loud in the dinning room but the food is great.
As usual, a great dining experience at Lucky Monk yesterday, Excellent service by Wesley; great food and beverage; nice atmosphere. Highly recommend!
There is a great vibe to the restaurant and the food was great!
We have been going here for many years. Our last couple of times the service was slow and the food was not as good as in the past. Thought we may have just been here on off days. Not any more, took 20 mins to get our drinks delivered after 10 mins of being seated. When the food came, no napkins, silverware or condiments (ketchup)-had to ask for them! Our waiter seemed disinterested in serving us. Waited 15 mins for our check(had to ask for it) and then another 10 min to get it back. 2 hours to have dinner and 2 beers. We will never go back-inexperienced wait staff, it did not use to be that way. Too bad because the beer is very good.
The restaurant was clean, the service to-notch and the food was delicious. My wife and I always choose the burgers, which are the best we have ever tasted. This night, we decided to eat outside and we had a wonderful dining experience.
We went here with friends. One is gluten-free, and she says this restaurant is definitely gluten friendly. (ask for the separate menu.) All of us enjoyed what we ordered, and serving sizes were large enough that almost all left with a box. (One was a teen-aged boy who must have a hollow leg.) Sides of fries are HUGE so I recommend that if you are with a friend, one get fries and the other select from the extensive list of sides so that you can share. Service was just right--waitress checked regularly, refills on drinks were prompt, but we had time to talk and enjoy our meals without a rush. Burger choices all sounded good, so we will have to return another time to try more. Restaurant is a little on the loud side, but not so much that we needed to shout.
Great service to go with Great food! The crafted beer was super!!!
Waiter was nice. Food and beer were fine. Parking lot was full and there was only one valet working her butt off.
Great food choices, beer and deserts. Service was outstanding.
Great food and drink. Great spot close to home after Cubs game!
It’s a bit on the pricey side but well worth the experience. A solid B plus for tasty food, great beer and a lovely atmosphere
Everything was awesome. Service and food were very good. Food was hot and fresh.
Manager came around to see how we were, very nice.
I would highly recommend
The food is great! We all (3) had different meals w/ different sides, and we all enjoyed what we ordered.
Even though it’s annoying to be asked how our experience is since we go The Lucky Monks so often, I feel compelled to once again say we love love the Monks!!! The wings are the best, the sampler is delicious (Tritica 😋), the brew pub chili, the Sante fe chicken salad, etc etc., with the friendly touch of Karre-)
Excellent drinks, salmon was perfect as well as grilled vegetables. Hot brownie dessert with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce pur the meal over the top.
The service here is absolutely outstanding! Food is amazing as always!
A 5:15 reservation and ordered a Turkey Burger. Waiter came back after approx. 10 min later telling me they were out of them. Would I like another dish?? I believe a manager came over a bit later( did not introduce himself) to apologize and said they had run out of them. Did not offer an appetizer, drink, dessert, etc on the house which is odd by most standards. The service was slow for a dead night, Memorial Day. The prices keep going up , the service and quality keep going down.
Personally I do not think I will return which is sad since we have been going there for years.
The wait stand host appeared to have pink eye which was concerning since he was passing out pagers. He told us it would be a while for our outdoor seating that they were very backed up outside and only had two servers to cover..The bartender said the same thing and said we should stay inside for a while. The wait wasn’t too terribly long and we were seated outside. The waitress informed us the kitchen had been slammed so it might take a while for our food. It did take a bit too long to get everything. Food was good. We felt bad for the servers and kitchen staff needing a lot more help on a Saturday of a holiday weekend.
We've eaten there a few times. My kids, who are teens and 20-somethings, like it. Food is okay. Same with the microbrewed beer - okay but not something I would go out of my way to get. Service was below par this time: we had to wait 10+ minutes to be seated, even though it was the middle of a Sunday afternoon and the place was half-full at most. That wait was a bad beginning that cast a shadow on the rest of the experience. It took a long time for drinks to arrive. My chili, far from being piping hot, was lukewarm at best. Reuben sandwich was good - the corned beef was nice and salty, and not too lean. Poutine was good. I drank the Kolsch beer this time - it was tasty, in fact the best of their home-brew selections (I think I've had them all by this time). Probably won't be back for a while.
Great food and fantastic beer. I got their own brew and was impressed.
I enjoy the atmosphere for a casual meet up
The food is consistently terrific. We sat outside on our last visit and we were impressed with the seating area and service. The giant pretzel with dipping sauces was a highlight.
They clearly have changed chefs in recent years and while overall the menu is mostly hits a few misses remain. The chicken chili which used to be a nice healthy option is one of them. For some reason this dish is now a creamy, almost oily, mess.
Service on the patio Saturday night was a big thumbs down. Server was was overwhelmed.
Too loud, allowed kids at another table to run around uncheck by parents.
Had the tomato fondue as an appetizer which was good, but when I asked for extra bread, he said there was an extra charge which was fine, but he brought out bread completely different from the original one. They didn't go well together. I ordered a salad, they left off 3 ingredients, which I had to ask for. First three salmon, then the bacon and crispy wontons.
At least my friends order was right.
The kitchen was slow in getting food out to us, and wait staff warned us up front that kitchen was slow. Twice as we waited, we had people stop and let us know when food should be out. Otherwise, not a bad experience, just not sure I’d recommend it. Wait staff made sure we were good, taken care of.
It was our first time everything was great. Service was fantastic did not catch his name, but hes normally a bar tender. My husband got a burger between two bacon grilled cheese sandwiches amazing! I got the shrimp po boy, it was ok I will definitely go with a burger next time! Great atmosphere overall good time.
Usually the place is good. This time then kitchen was so slow. Felt like they forgot about us and our order.
My son and husband enjoy all of the varieties of beer. We have dined here many times and have tried several of the hamburgers which are all delicious! We come back here whenever we can.
Service was terrible. Waited 50 minutes for food. Food was cold. Waiter did not seem to care. Asked for manager- none came. Took a further 30 minutes to get our check. A further 20 minutes to get credit card back. A/c units were leaking and there was water everywhere. Sloppy attempt to clean it up. Were supposed to get a birthday dessert. None came Overall a very unhappy experience. Just wanted out of there. Used to be a great place.
We have been there about 4 times now! Everytime it has been outstanding!! So yummy
Had a great visit!! Our waitress was super and manager couldn’t have been nicer. They all made our daughter’s post-graduation dinner a very nice memory!
