The Palm Court
We celebrated my daughter’s 50th birthday at High Tea. What a wonderful experience! It was fun to pick out a favorite tea from the vast selection on the menu. The food was very tasty and offered a variety of options. The harp music added such a pleasant background for our conversation. It was an afternoon to remember!
Lovely space, beautiful harp music. Great place for a special gathering!
The Palm Court visually is truly a delight and the service was quite good as well. However, the food served wasn't a proper tea (no scones and true biscuits). Additionally, for the price you are paying I would like to believe more food options should have been offered.
We were visiting from Charleston, SC. I took my 3 girls(5yr, 9yr, 12yr) for the oldest’s birthday celebration. Not only was it gorgeous, the staff were friendly and helpful and patient with the youngest. We only stayed an hour, as the youngest was getting antsy, but it was PERFECT! The food was wonderful. I had an herbal tea and the girls had hot chocolate. The pastries and sandwiches were lovely. We refilled a couple treats and they brought my oldest a wonderful chocolate mouse with a sweet chocolate happy birthday mold. It was just such a wonderful experience that we will all remember forever. If you’re considering doing it with kids and don’t know if it’s worth it, DO IT! The memories are priceless.
My mother and I came here to celebrate our birthdays, and we had a wonderful time. The service, the food, and the place were all fantastic. Would definitely recommend coming here for a birthday, anniversary, or just to celebrate.
Excellent experience and very memorable. We had a wonderful time, our server was excellent and all the food was yummy. Great and plentiful choices of tea. The ambiance of The Drake Hotel and especially the Palm Court was a perfect setting for afternoon tea with the girls!
Beautiful location with a great ambience. Highly recommend it
The room is beautiful and the people are very nice and welcoming. We went on a Wednesday so the room was quite with just a few diners. Pricing is reasonable but food was stale and not fresh. Tables needed linen tablecloths and better china. Hilton should put money back into this icon, it deserves better and so do its employees.
Our server, Amir, was exceptional. The food was great, and the ambiance was perfect.
The teatime experience was delightful, especially with the harpist playing beautifully, it added to the ambiance. The presentation was very good, although a little over zealous with so many team members swirling in the beginning. The treats offered a good variety and we especially enjoyed the traditional scones with jam and cream, along with the cucumber sandwich. Mum enjoyed it very much and talked about stories she had growing up in England as we dined. Thank-you!
Service was amazing. We had a friend who was GF and another who was GF and DF and they were able to accommodate with amazing alternatives. The waiter was extremely nice as well. We had a wonderful experience!
Great service; the tea, sandwiches and treats were great. Very nice music and decor to set a relaxing mood. Everyone should try this at least once. My wife and I will return with our children at Christmas time.
Nice ambiance , good value , excellent service .for a weekend afternoon tea it was good
I had booked this reservation with a request that the occasion was to celebrate my friend's birthday. The waiter did not do this.
It was once upon a time great. I loved to entertain clients there. Now, sadly, the food offerings are uninspired. The room lacked the beauty it once had. The entire experience was really just meh, and the price high. Will be trying another venue for tea in Chicago.
Our server was very attentive, the food was delicious, and it was a memorable experience for my boyfriend and I. We will definitely be back!
My daughter and I come here every year after her first day of school. The service is impeccable and we always have a really special time. The food is always inventive, yet traditional (cucumber sandwiches - SO good!) This is a wonderful place to celebrate the special people in your life.
A great place for a special birthday celebration; service, ambiance, food and tea met and exceeded expectations!
My wife and I enjoyed high tea there. Excellent experience and ambiance. Not having any other similar experience to compare it to not sure why others thought it didn't deliver, but we were pleased with how enjoyable it was for a weekend outing.
Great mommy daughter or girls outing!
Value totally not there. Food was good but uninteresting. They use inexpensive ingredients and didn’t align to the cost.
Excellent service. Staff was attentive. We really enjoyed ourselves
Food ,service were much lower than expected.Food was just average and no refills till you ask.
Not wowed at all.
There was no live harp either.
Have had much better High tea at lower prices at other places.
Great service and food. Love the room decor for the afternoon tea. We had a great time my daughter and me. This is are second time visiting Chicago and the Palm Court. We love it so much the first time . That we had to go back for the second time. So far the best place to have an afternoon tea.
Absolutely a lovely experience....our server was wonderful...definitely recommend this for a very special outing while in Chicago
What a great place to celebrate with my husband. It was elagant, freshing, and overall fantastic. Food, tea and atmosphere was so good.
We had a lovely time! Celebrating my sister in laws birthday. We brought our husbands along and even they had a good time with tea and scones. Our server was a very funny and charming lady. The tea snacks were wonderful.
The setting of High Tea at the Drake Hotel is stunning. Unfortunately, during the week, there’s no harp music. We went on a Tuesday. The food offered is to carb-heavy. One scone is enough, with more finger sandwiches. I don’t know if they have tasted the desserts lately, but I only liked one of the five that were offered. I love the Drake, and I’ve been going to it for years for High Tea, but they need to update their menu. It was $49 each, which was very steep for what you receive.
We had a wonderful experience. The server made sure we were taken care of from the moment we sat down until we left. Food was delicious
Beautiful setting for a multigenerational celebration of the ladies we love!
If you are looking a high quality afternoon tea, do not waste your money at The Drake.
The sandwiches were thin, bland and tasteless. The scones were oily and the poppyseed one seemed underdone (I swear they were from Costco).
The tea itself was an excellent blend. The server was lovely (when I actually saw her) and that saved it from being a complete wreck. I've enjoyed tea in many cities. This was a disappointment.
Really loved taking my mom for high tea. The service was incredible and the experience was truly special.
We had a wonderful experience at tea, Drake’s Palm Court. Azmir was our server and could not have been more pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable. We arrived 10 minutes late, but we were seated without question. We were given a choice of a few different tables. We loved the scones, chicken salad and the berry panna cotta. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.
Azmir, our server was SPECTACULAR!!!! 10-stars, 👍🏻👍🏻 I cannot say enough about how wonderful he was!!!
The FOOD, tea, and Rose Sangria were outstanding!!! We cannot wait to go back.
Why only 3 stars overall? The couches were so worn, so uncomfortable, so over-used!!! Of our party of 8, 3 of us took a whole day to recover from our sore backs.
We jokingly said to each other, “I’m sure that is not where Princess Diana sat.”
Exceptional service. Super friendly/smiley manager. The tea was aromatic and flavorful. Sandwiches were delicious. Love that they are refillable. Scones were tasty. Bite size desserts on top were the only thing that was not good. They were not freshly baked. They were still cold, dry, and crumbly. Therefore, only the mango mousse was heavenly.
We had afternoon tea which was lovely. I am sad to say, however, that they left loose tea leaves in the tea. Depending on the type of tea you get, a brew can become astringent and bitter if it steeps too long. Adding hot water to the pot does not help—you only get diluted stringent, bitter tea after that! I applaud loose leaf tea—the only REAL tea, but Brew it in a bag that can be removed—with an appropriate holder to
Place the bag in—is a nice solution. OR let the tea brew in the kitchen and strain the pot before serving. The food was fabulous and the service impeccable. The tea was good and hot. Bravo! I do recommend this experience but there is an opportunity to take this tea service to the top level.
I’ve been to tea at most of the hotels in Chicago, and the Drake has consistently been one of my favorites. It has that “grand” hotel feeling, but it remains very approachable and the service is always friendly. One small complaint is that our server didn’t notify us her shift was ending; we realized it when a new server appeared. Otherwise, it was a wonderful afternoon and I’ll definitely be back.
Great experience, but the food was so-so. Overseas the food portion is unlimited, technically. Here you pay for additional plates. Not up to its peers I guess
I love getting afternoon tea at the Drake. It is such a fun experience for a date, or a special occasion with a friend. Everything was great. The only thing I could recommend is that the server pours the tea for the table. I think the first time I came to the Drake it was poured for me, this time it was not and both my friend and I ended up spilling some very hot tea on our legs because we are not used to those teapots. Super minor, but could've been embarrassing had it been a date or something.
