The Palm Court
As always, always a good time. Great food, great atmosphere, love the harpist and fountain. I always try to sit next to fountain.
Do wonder why you leave the sheer curtains up over the interior columns. I think there are mirrors behind them, but what's under that, probably really nice classcial columns. You might consider a restoration there.
Annual tradition for our family and it never get old and The Palm Court never disappoint!!
Beautiful setting, loved the harpist and the service.
We loved it!! Been several times and it never disappoints.
Our waiter was Azmir. He is smiling and attentive. We only come once a year for the tea service, and we have had Azmir for three years in a row. I would be happy to have him every time! The refills of hot water came in a timely manner (by another server) as well. I like being offered 2nds on the sandwiches, as they are very small. I don't eat ham, so let my daughter have the ham sandwiches. The turkey/cranberry tart was excellent, particularly the pastry crust. Did not care much for the little cheesecake or the macaroon (too sweet). Love the scones and the clotted cream, jam, and lemon curd to put on them. The tea selections are wonderful.
As most people would say the Drake offers a timeless beauty . From the old ceilings to the massive and impressive presence of the flower arrangement in the middle of the court makes u feel special as soon as you walk in.
Food was good but not great ( not all food items were fresh )
Tea was yummy but after the 3rd addition of water and no additional tea it was getting a bit weak .
The harpist was amazing and perfect for a relaxing afternoon tea. Elegant and on point .
Would Ι go again? I would, just to experience the drake ambiance .
One final note: the staff at reservations is amazing and very accommodating. Overall experience 4
The harpist was wonderful, and the venue was lovely. Service was good. I was expecting the food to be better, but perhaps I was spoiled by high tea in London. It was a pretty good experience.
Great tea selection and delicious treats. The tables are a little too small for all the plates and teapots and I think the pricepoint is a little high. However, I love that you can ask for more food and the service was excellent.
The food is okay nothing special. In fact, the only thing I semi enjoy is the cucumber sandwiches, but I come for the ambiance and service. It’s so beautiful, comfortable and calming there. My friend and I always have a wonderful time and recently Amir was our server and he was extremely attentive and pleasant. He offered to take pictures if we needed and made our tea time a wonderful experience.
Lovely setting and excellent service.
The service was ambivalent and I was hugely dissatisfied. This was a birthday celebration and I wish I had taken my friend to the Langham or the Peninsula instead. Even the Sanderson in London has better service. I will never come back. Were we bothering your staff by being there on a Sunday afternoon because that’s sort of how the service felt. Should I have to chase someone down for water? The elegant surroundings did not live up to what should have been a wonderful birthday celebration for my friend.
The closest thing to a complaint about this High Tea is that it is very British. Most excellent while the Palm Court's Christmas decorations are in place. But wonderful at any season, for any reason if you want to dress up and have a ritzy teatime.
I loved the ambiance. The service was not attentive enough. The food was not good. The chicken salad was good, the lobster in a pastry was stale, the tea sandwich was fair, the blueberry dessert was weird.
Perfectly lovely experience! What a gorgeous setting for tea! We enjoyed excellent and attentive service and delicious food presented beautifully.
Fantastic traditional high tea. Atmosphere and service were exceptional.
I was a bit disaapointed in the afternoon tea. Also, the hotel is very tired looking and needs a huge renovation. I expected something much more grand.
I was really looking forward to treating my mom to tea at The Drake. She was positively giddy with anticipation of such a lovely experience. Overall the food and service were disappointing. Everything served resembled something made days earlier and pulled from the freezer prior to service. The sandwich course consisted of four forgettable sandwiches. I actually had to look at my pictures to remember what we had. The cucumber sandwich was quite tasty, but the roast beef was served on a cold, dry, mini-brioche with a cold square of cheese and a gherkin stabbed through the top with a cocktail pick. It seemed more like tailgating food. The scone course consisted of a sad little loaf of lemon poppy seed bread and a scone that was more like a little sandwich roll than a scone. Even lemon curd and Devon cream couldn’t dress them up enough to be passable. That course was no better than something one might pick up in the day-old section of the local supermarket. The dessert course was also disappointing. Nothing seemed fresh. The French silk tart seemed a bit stale. The blueberry buttermilk panna cotta tasted like nothing, and if not blue, wouldn’t have been identifiable as anything resembling blueberry. The tea and the cocktail both tasted good. The teapots dripped all over the table and we had to ask for extra napkins. The service was slightly sub-par, not only for The Drake, but also for a renowned tea room.
Several days earlier, we had tea at the Pavilion at the Langham and it was outstanding. Even for $30 more per person, it was a far superior experience, and one of the best afternoon teas I’ve had.
Nice day with my daughter.
Brought my mom, aunt, & 97 year old grandmother here for tea and we had such a wonderful experience! The service was beyond exceptional from the valet to security guard, who wheeled my grandmother around as well as the hostess and our server ALL were incredible and treated us like queens. It was a very special afternoon.
Wonderful atmosphere and ambiance. The scones were a bit disappointing but the rest was lovely!
Had a fabulous time with my girlfriends from out of town!
Perfect as always.
Fantastic experience, food, service.
We celebrated my niece/God daughter’s 4th birthday with afternoon princess tea! A tradition I’ve now done for two of my God daughter’s for their 4th birthdays. During this experiences, the servers/staff were so wonderful in making her feel special, announcing that the princess is arriving and leaving for the day and bringing a cake. I always enjoy the harpist’s beautiful music. Such a sweet experience!
Experience was amazing. Our daughters had an amazing time. Thank you for the lovely afternoon.
The ambiance exceeded my expectations. The service was exceptional. It couldn't have been a more pleasant experience. The sandwiches, tea and desserts were elegantly presented and were delicious. I highly recommend tea at the Palm Court.
Delicious, relaxing afternoon tea in a beautiful setting! Would do it again without hesitation!
I went for Afternoon Tea with six other women. We followed the suggestion to "dress to Impress" which made the outing special. Tuesday seemed to be an uncrowded afternoon; we were among a few. Some of us were early, but we were still seated and we didn't feel pressured to leave after the 1.5 allotted time had expired. Our waitstaff was very attentive and professional. Each of us chose a different tea but all of us were pleased with our selection. The food was delicious. We had a great time and look forward to another visit in the future.
We loved the setting and the food was great. The hostess who was seating people ignored our group for a long time and when I questioned her about our reservation she was very rude. We weren't seated until 1:15pm and the seating time was 1pm. The one who seated us was apologetic and nice. Our waiter was nice, service was a little slow but we weren't in a hurry.
So beautiful! Had a wonderful afternoon with my daughter!
Amazing ambiance and very classy setup. The concept of high tea is great, especially if you want to spend good quality time with someone.
Amazing experience! I’ve been to high tea in some of London’s finest hotels and this was right on par. Well done!
Our recent experience at The Palm Court is an example of why sometimes it is better to not risk disturbing great memories. We had a lovely tea there five years ago for our daughter's birthday weekend and she was keen to go back. My wife and daughter are both now vegan so she was very pleased that The Palm Court offers a Vegan Tea. What a disappointment. It consisted of a few finger sandwiches and a plate of fruit for almost $50 per person. Not even a vegan scone. When I asked about this, the waiter reacted as if the concept of a vegan scone came from Mars. Even my Tea was only fair with the scone being more like a hard biscuit than a proper scone. It's a shame because the ambiance at The Palm Court, particularly on the weekend with the harpist playing, is lovely. We will definitely not being going back.
Dessert all tasted the same, too sweet
The roast beef sandwich could use a condiments
Great time for tea!
The location of the tea was absolutely beautiful. The harpist added an elegant touch and the service was superb. The food was fair, not the best for the price, but the atmosphere made up for it. The scones were like dinner rolls and the cucumber sandwiches had little taste.
The afternoon tea experience was exceptional. Easy location, perfect service and beautiful atmosphere. A must do while in the city.
Afternoon tea was a fun and elegant way to reunite with friends. Always wonderful!
We celebrated my daughter’s 50th birthday at High Tea. What a wonderful experience! It was fun to pick out a favorite tea from the vast selection on the menu. The food was very tasty and offered a variety of options. The harp music added such a pleasant background for our conversation. It was an afternoon to remember!
