The Palm Court
Lovley! Our waiter Azmir was knowledgeable and delightful. I celebrated my 26th birthday here and felt like a lady. Thank you 💙
THE HIGH TEA WAS DISAPPOINTING. THE TEA SANDWCHES WERE NOT REALLY TEA SANDWICHWS.- AS AN EXAMPLE, THE ROAST BEEF CAME ON A RLL AND WAS VERY FATTY. THERE WAS ONE SCONE AND ONE POPPPY SEED CAKE. THE SCONE WAS NOT GOOD AND THE SECOND COURSE SHOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY SCONES. MY FRIEND LOVED HER TEA. I WAS NOT THRILLED WITH THE CHOCOLATE TEA AND THE ENGLISH BREAKFAST TEA WAS VERY STRONG.
THE SEVICE WAS WONDERFUL ALONG ITH THE HARP PLAYER.
OVERALL, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT. I HAVE HAD MUCH BETTER HIGH TEA AT OTHER PLACES.
Amazing food, service, and ambiance. I highly recommend the Saint James tea! Also, the harp playing is beautiful!
I took my daughters and niece to afternoon tea and it was wonderful!!! My niece is in a wheelchair and the staff was so accommodating and honestly extremely kind and helpful. We had a fantastic time!
Afternoon Tea is spectacular. The sandwiches and desserts are scrumptious and the teas are delicious. A very sophisticated and fancy afternoon.
Lovely place for afternoon tea. Great selection of goodies and so relaxing!!
We had the best time; the food was awesome, the ambiance so serene and elegant and the service by Emir was the absolute best. He made us feel like the queens we are. Loved It! and will be back again.
Still a nice experience, but it's looking a bit tired. Cobwebs on fountain floral arrangement. There is an alternative menu choice, but if you select it, those foods don't come on the elegant tiered tray. The sandwiches looked pretty and tasted fine but the flavors were not special as I have experienced at teas from other venues around the US. It was a nice experience, but not a delightful experience. Our server, however, was most congenial, proficient, and attentive.
Tea at the Drake/The Palm Court is an absolute must if you're visiting Chicago! It's the third time I've experienced it and have thoroughly enjoyed it every time! It's always been a 'girl's trip' visit, however, it would be great for a date as well! The service, cuisine provided, and tea has always been consistently superb! Also, I have a dietary restriction and they asked prior to me even having to mention it and accommodated it specially!
Fabulous as always, the food is delightful, the service, the ambience is excellent. Despite the crowds the attention offered was exceptional because it is so well organized and thorough. It was good for a king.
Most beautiful high tea I’ve ever been to
Wonderful experience. Thoroughly enjoyable throughout. Very attentive waiter. Would recommend for anyone who desires a special day.
This was absolutely lovely. The room was beautiful and the service was great. Highly recommend.
My mom and I go to the Palm Court twice a year and it is always such a lovely experience. We have been going for so long a waiter knows who we are and stops by and says hello. The staff is SO NICE, always. The good is good now (at some point it took a little turn down but it’s back up!). I would highly recommend it. It isn’t casual dining but it is a fun girls afternoon out or for a special occasion! Enjoy the tea, the atmosphere, and the pleasant staff. Always a positive experience that will make you want to come back.
The service was beyond wonderful! Our waiter was so attentive and friendly. Also, the floral arrangements and harpist were spectacular.
Such a lovely and relaxing experience! Would definitely go again next time I’m in Chicago
I had a wonderful experience and I currently looking to book my next tea.
The service was EXCELLENT but the food and presentation was mediocre at best. I expected much more for formal low tea service.
Lovely afternoon celebrating my Mom's 87th birthday. The service by Sead was impeccable who surprised her with a candle adorned slice of cake. Beautiful setting and tea!
I had Afternoon Tea with my team and it everything was perfect!
We were at The Palm Court, and it was everything we would expect from such a historic property. The service was outstanding, and we would certainly attend again. If you are considering making a reservation, hesitate no longer!
Awesome experience, all around special I’m every way.
Afternoon Tea was amazing!
Food should be better for the price. Better tea at many places, but the ambiance was wonderful!
Tea at The Palm Court is always a hit! Great experience. Thank you
The Palm Court was an amazing experience, beautifully decorated, with great traditional afternoon tea offerings. We were late for our reservation but the host was over the moon accommodating which was so appreciated after traveling 2 hours to attend. The wait staff was hard to understand and did not come around often to check on us for new needs. However, overall it was an amazing experience to share with my daughter for her birthday.
The celebrated our anniversary with us, great service
My Mother & I loved our High Tea & my 2 yr old Granddaughter enjoyed the complimentary sandwiches & dessert. We’re going to make it a tradition. Our waiter was excellent with the tea recommendations.
This was my first time having afternoon tea and the hostess was great at explaining everything. The tea was delicious and the finger food, yum! I will definitely go back.
I always have a wonderful experience at the Palm for afternoon tea. The service is always wonderful and the tea, food and desserts are always amazing.
I brought my 5 year old niece and mother-in-law to Afternoon Tea and it was a wonderful experience for all of us! The staff made my niece feel so special and the manager was great about promptly responding to my email concern about her severe peanut allergy (she was able to eat everything offered). It was a beautiful and special memory I will treasure forever.
Highly recommend for a relaxing, beautiful high tea experience. Definitely a must for any lover of tea, treats or pomp and circumstance.
For what was suppose to be a special time spent having tea and enjoying the atmosphere and company, being interrupted several times for staff to be cleaning around and under your current table was disrespectful. It was clear that the staff was done and just wanted to leave. Having reservations at 3:00 was near the end of serious but should have received the same level of serious one would expect during hours of operation.
Really fantastic afternoon tea service, we went back twice in two weeks. Very elegant yet casual atmosphere, family friendly with fantastic options for everyone from small kids to cocktail-enjoying adults.
We went to the Palm Court for afternoon tea for Mother's Day and it was lovely. All the mothers received a rose which was so thoughtful and a nice gesture. The decors were beautiful and the harp player was a wonderful addition to the ambiance. It was a feast for the sense. You don't necessarily go there for the food, but rather the experience.
Brought my mother here for Mother's Day afternoon tea. The hostess gave my mother a pink rose before leading us to our seat. We were seated right by the fountain behind the harpist, a most ideal spot. We each ordered our tea (oolong and English breakfast) and got our tray of bites. The scones and deserts were delicious. I would say that the sandwiches were good, but not my favorite of all the options.
The washrooms are big. Each stall has its own sink, like your own private bathroom.
My mother loved it. I should bring her every year.
We've made a Mother's Day celebration at the Palm Court a tradition, and it's always a high point. This year was the first in memory when we were less than 100% satisfied. We came for a later seating, at 3:00, and our table was not ready. There was a large crowd waiting to be seated and the host was not the most gracious person I've ever encountered. You would have found the same manners trying to get a seat on the bus - nothing overtly rude but nothing that said "Palm Court." My mother is 97 years old and can't stand too long, but it made no difference.
Due to the wait and slower-than-usual service we didn't get our food until after 4:00. By that time we were all so hungry that some of the urbanity and specialness of the event was lost. We were just interested in getting something in our stomaches.
The venue was clearly understaffed with bus service and could not clear and reset tables fast enough. This is a failure of management and imagination -- the Drake has a large staff and steps could have been taken.
We'll still go back next year, god willing, and hope for a resumption of our usual elegant event.
Everything was perfect however the noise level was quite loud, we were able to sit near the harp so was able to enjoy it anyway.
