We had a delicious meal and very enjoyable evening with delightful staff
We go to this restaurant from time to time. It always has a pleasant ambience and
welcoming staff. Good and easy car parking.
Great food, service, lovely ambience and decor.
A great gastropub with high quality of food and great wine list. Slightly limited menu choice on the mains otherwise 5*
The shared tart tatin was divine for dessert
Lovely food as usual. We always enjoy eating at The Pheasant.
Great food - excellent service - wood highly recommend!
Perfect birthday celebration venue. Great food, service and ambience. Thoroughly recommended.
We started with a drink, in the nicely furnished front bar, of The Pheasant own Ale 3.8% which was very nice. Service was good and friendly. We then went through to the new extended restaurant area which again is nicely furnished. The chateau briand was excellent as were the accompaniments. This was washed down with a very tasty Argentinian Malbec. Will certainly go there again.
Very nice pub, serving good food which had a lively, happy atmosphere even on a Tuesday night. Would recommend eating in the bar area rather than the slightly soulless restaurant....
Food was tasty, but expensive for what it was. Service was attentive. She picked up on my wife's disappointment that the pastry on the beetroot tart was so crumbly that you could not eat it with a knife and fork as it kept breaking into smaller and smaller pieces. Our table was by a fire exit which a number of diners used as an exit. We will probably give it another go ay some time as we had a gorgeous meal there pre-lockdown.
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner and breakfast! Wonderful staff and various menus were available for allergies and intolerances. So good!
Excellent food and service as always at the Pheasant, thank you.
Well organised. Service very good. Food was very good. Will go again.
The Pheasant was hosting a large event over lunch, which spilled into the eating and bar area, so very noisy around our table. I was disappointed that we were not warned of this event. Because of the noise and risk of exposure to Covid infection from overcrowding at the bar, we might have chosen to change/cancel our booking.
The food was, as ever, excellent.
Very good service .
Good choice for each course and it was all delicious
A most enjoyable evening and certainly recommend.
Excellent in all departments, we could not recommend The Pheasant highly enough !
Fantastic service food and ambiance
Enjoyed our visit, service and food was very good. Whilst most customers were still observing mask and distance protocol the Inn appeared to have largely dropped the idea (no signage or guidance). Hope to be back but perhaps after the pandemic has finally subsided.
We sat in the garden which was lovely because it was very hot the only problem is when there’s only 2 of you a bigger party can drown you out which is what happened to us..heavy drinking they got louder and louder and their numbers grew which was not so good on the first evening of unlocking from covid restrictions.
Food was incredible, service was lovely, setting was great and very conveniently close to the main road.
We attended for a Sunday lunch with friends.
Three of us chose fish and one roast beef and all were proclaimed excellent.
We were given a cool inside table on request.
Service was very polite but could have been a bit more attentive.
Excellent food and service. The lamb rump and t-bone steak were cooked to perfection.
It was good to see the Pheasant getting back into action post-Covid and the staff making a real effort.
Certainly worth another visit.
Certainly need to rethink the vegetarian options very little choice burger and bun very dry
Nice place, good service. Food good although my gluten free burger wasn’t flavoursome. I noted gluten free deserts were same as some non gluten-free just minus some bits yet were the same price. Eg strawberries and sorbet which had shortbread added to non gluten free version but charged the same price.
Our food was well presented and tasty, service was good and the setting is very comfortable and pleasant. The changes made to The Pheasant over recent months have enhanced the dining experience and I would definitely recommend it
The Pheasant is just excellent. The menu is perfect, the staff professional and welcoming. Great atmosphere and everything you could wish for in an entailment which is properly run to a high standard.
Very nice place well worth a visit ...was a bit of a wreck a few years but but has been restored .
Very welcoming staff , food was great however we were sat in an alcove with no windows with it being a sunny evening a bit depressing.
Great seasonal choices. Well cooked and presented- delicious
Excellent venue, service and food. Couldn't fault it.
The Pheasant has had a major revamp in recent times and is now an extremely pleasant and very convenient venue for meeting up with friends - located as it is just a few hundred yards from junction 14 of the M4. But despite its proximity to the motorway quiet and rural. Greatly enjoyed our lunch there.
Very nice restaurant, busy for a Monday lunch time which was good. The service was very attentive from our young waitresses but it did take an hour for our food to arrive.
My husband had the burger which he pronounced delicious. My father and I had the sea bass. Fish beautifully cooked but sadly the potatoes and veg were cold. I suspect plated up in advance while fish cooked.
Been here numerous times and never had a bad word to say, everything was good yesterday but just not at previous levels - wont put me off
We were visiting friends in Essex from our west country home and originally looked for somewhere close to the M4 where we could have a decent breakfast, rather than a service station overpriced plate of grease.
We were so impressed with the quality of the food, the service (friendly and efficient) and the ambience (the Pheasant has lovely decor, aimed towards a 'country pursuits' theme), that we also stopped on the way home for a late Sunday lunch.
Throughout both meals, the quality of the ingredients was superb and the staff were very welcoming and helpful.
A lovely pub in a great setting. Easy to get to with plenty of parking.
Food very good and enjoyable.
Although on the pricey side it is worth it for the ambiance and service
The service was friendly and efficient.
The food was fantastic I had a roast beef Sunday lunch which was perfect.
The establishment was very posh classy I definitely felt under dressed in jeans and a jumper .
I liked the the corner that we sat in as it had some really nice artwork on the walls .
But it was so lovely i will for sure look to go again and maybe sit in the cute courtyard with a coffee
Absolutely fabulous service and a great value lunch. Delicious.
Excellent meal with perfect service from pleasant young ladies. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch.
A great gastro-pub - the fact that it was pretty full mid-week says everything that needs to be said.
This was my first visit to the Pheasant - loved it! Delicious food, very helpful staff and lovely environment... Definitely recommend!....
So enjoyed this wonderful pub which has retained its historic character but been redone in excellent taste, style and comfort and the food was delicious. A glass of Coates & Seely to start dinner is the perfect aperitif, and another glass with the Seabass would be even better! Really good, happy service!
