Anniversary meal and couldn’t have been better. Champagne chilled on arrival as requested, waiter was really friendly and attentive and everything ordered was exceptional. Will definitely go again.
Enjoyed the experience . Just had an issue with the beef on one of the Sunday lunch meals. It was poor quality stringy, hard to cut and took an age to chew . The rest of the food was fine .
Booked a table for New Years Day. Sat for 10 minutes before anyone asked if wanted a drink. Sat 10 more minutes waiting for the drinks (which never arrived) looking at the menu. Half of the options were not available and there was only one vegetarian option on the whole menu.
We didn’t have our drink or any food... we left and went elsewhere
Abysmal place. Waited over 30 minutes to even get the food menu, despite it being booked and it being a relatively small place. It was 1 hour and 20 minutes from being sitted to actually being served food, which was mediocre. 20 quid for a ribeye steak that was clearly frozen at some point.6 quid fo 3 balls of ice cream.
Disappointing, New Year's Eve early evening dinner. It was very busy, the staff were overwhelmed at times. We had prebooked. I guess this is essential at busy times. We were shown to a table promptly.
Two of the five starters were unavailable and two of the seven mains were unavailable!
The two draught beers shown on the drinks menue were also unavailable!
However the pork belly 'pochetta style' was excellent'.
Entertainment was provided by the manager who was continuously rushing around, moving tables and chairs getting very stressed trying to fit everyone in.
It was a bit like a Faulty Towers impression, Great fun. He even tried to take my plate away while I was still eating!
Would we go again? The food was good, there is abeer garden with good facilities for children. So we will probably give it another try, at a less busy time.
Really enjoyed our meal on New Years Eve, service was prompt, polite and friendly. Will definitely visit again soon.
Although the bar was quite noisy we thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas Meal,my husband and I went with his sister and husband for our 2nd visit to the Pledwick, and we will return in the new year.Thankyou.
An absolutely stunning Christmas Lunch was had by me and all my colleagues!
GORGEOUS HOMEMADE FOOD, BRILLIANT SERVICE AND REALLY SPOT ON VALUE. WILL BE BACK!
Lunch was very good
It was very hot beautifully presented
Not many people there but service very quick
It cost less than I expected
Food was ok but I didn’t get the dessert I ordered and was brought an alternative I didn’t want.
Broccoli was hard.
Seems a bit chaotic. No clear place to organise going to the restaurant so we were milling around a while.
I just think it it’s overpriced for a standard ok ish service
Had the Christmas menu. Fairly good choice. Felt the spicy soup was very bland. Crumbed Camembert was good but not very hot and was on a bed of mixed leaves and not rocket as stated. Rest of meal good however not all dessert choices available but waiting staff were very accommodating with this
We go regularly to the pledwick and enjoy it every time.
Excellent food with service to match. A very relaxing atmosphere and a clear focus on ensuring that we had an enjoyable time.
Lovely food and staff helpful. Only a three things were amiss...had to ask for cutlery when meal came, two salt pots were broken & would not work and when we returned to our table our drinks had been taken away. However we did get some more and an apology. Overall though we enjoyed it.
always a great Sunday lunch here... beef cooked perfect - hard to beat!
Lovely place. Took my mum for a birthday lunch and everything was perfect; food, service and drinks. Will definitely go back
Good experience, Good service food good amount , good variety of starters and mains plus desserts clean tidy. Not rushing u to eat up
We visited on a Tuesday lunchtime. The weather was cold and so was the pub both in atmosphere and temperature despite there being a wood burning stove which surprisingly was not lit.
Apart from our group of three there were only eight other people dining. It was amazing therefore that it took 50 minutes for our light lunches to arrive and then only after we had chased them up.
It is possible that the business puts more resources into its evening trade and Sunday lunches but we won’t be returning to find out.
We had another beautiful Sunday lunch here this weekend. The food was beautiful, I had a prawn cocktail for starters that had a very generous portion of prawns and the roast beef was amazing, it was cooked to perfection and had no fat on it whatsoever.
I always enjoy the Sunday lunch but I must admit the service has improved remarkably over the last couple of months , the staff are very professional and extremely polite.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and peaceful.
Lovely atmosphere and the staff were all really accommodating from the moment we walked in. We took our 9 week old baby in her pram & were a bit worried about the space for her but the staff put us in a good spot with plenty of room for her. Really good service and the food was lovely. We will definitely be going back.
Realyl nice ambience & setting, great service & lovely food.
It was quite noisy when we arrived, you can hear people in the bar as well as in the restaurant, however this would not put me off eating here again. This was our 1st visit and the food didn’t dissapoint at all,it was delicious, service was slightly slow but worth the wait.
Cannot fault the food and the service, it's very good. However, our evening was spoilt by a load of really rowdy blokes, who were shouting and laughing so loudly you couldn't here yourself think. Nobody went to tell them to keep the noise down either, as I'm sure other diner' s were annoyed too. The soundproofing in the restaurant area is abysmal and you can practically hear everybody's conversations. This is the third time I've been and it's no better. I think someone should look into making the soundproofing better for starters, as it spoils what should be a relaxing evening. You shouldn't have to shout to the person you are sharing a table with to be heard. Also, management should try and control large party's of obviously drunk people who spoil it for everyone else with their shouting. I think that until the terrible soundproofing is sorted out I won't be returning.
Another great Sunday lunch experience with friends!
Sadly no it looks like got new management and chef not as good as it was
Fantastic food and service. The steak was so tender. We will be returning
I thought the restaurant was cold, even though I was wearing a jumper.
I also thought that the main course (lamb) was overpriced for the portion size.
There was just 1 vegetable offering on the plate, which I thought was poor value.
I will not return.
We had a lovely Sunday lunch here last weekend, the prawn cocktail was fantastic and filled with prawns,
The server for our table was very polite and efficient,
The service was much better than a few months ago , that was very slow although the food was still worth waiting for.
It seems much more organised now.
And a lovely cosy atmosphere.
Food was lovely and at a good price the staff were happy to help
All the family enjoyed the food. The decor is to a good standard, food excellent and service was very attentive. Well done, we will be making a second visit
Thoroughly enjoyed my first but definitely not my last visit to The Pledwick. It was a bit noisy but that was due to a large party celebrating a birthday and we have all been guilty of that! Food was great and so were the staff. I have always been put off visiting due to its previous reputation but that is definitely in the past and I will be booking again and quickly.
This is the second time we visited The Pledwick and were impressed with the change in decor. It is a much more appealing place to eat in or to go to for a drink and we will definitely be back.
The service on Sunday was very slow and not really organised. I think this is due to a busy Sunday lunch session. The staff were very friendly and helpful which made up for the hit and miss service during our visit.
There was a large party of 20/30 year old men and women who appeared to be spending quite a bit and unfortunatley making so much noise I couldn't hear what my partner was saying to me. I would deffinatley think twice about booking for Sunday lunch again.
The food was very tasty, but my roast beef was much too rare for my liking, so I took it home and gave it to our hound. The prawn cocktail really should have had more sauce, as it hardly had any on at all. It was also quite unusual to be on a base of bread, that was a little too doughy.
We will definitely be back to try some other choices.
Really great Sunday lunch at a fab price, kind of do not want to write a good review as want to always be able to get a table!
The food was as good as ever though the wait time was unfortunately too long to say the overall experience was five star. The live entertainment was an added bonus.
Excellent food and attentive service good to see improvements since new bosses
Very clean and tidy
Blanked and little customer service
Frustration and body langue of staff un welcoming.
No attention to tables. Dirty cutlery.
Didn’t even get our orders taken we were waiting that long we walked out.
Shocking service at the bar and in the restaurant area.
Staff didn’t have a clue
Lamb was dry and fatty, steak pie was watery. We were quite disappointed for the price paid.
On arrival my husband stood at the bar for 10 minutes without being served, he gave up and we asked to go to our table. We ordered Sunday lunch. The prawn cocktail on ciabatta was tasteless, though ham hock was good. The main courses were cold, beef under cooked, pork dry and over cooked. The cutlery was dirty and we were told it was because they were so busy that they hadn’t time to polish it! We sent the main courses back and they were replaced, the replacement meals were much better. Several staff asked if everything was ok and we expressed our disappointment, all said they were very sorry and that they were very busy. We weren’t offered anything to compensate for our poor experience. On the whole, the staff were friendly but seemed stressed and rushed and our experience was not a good one.
