The Progress is fantastic. I'm always blown away by the creativity and quality of the dishes here. If you appreciate good food then this is the place for you. Always order the anchovies. They are a big deal. The staff goes above & beyond to make the guests feel welcome and appreciated.
Excellent service and food, as always. It's one of the best in SF and the country. Our only feedback is our waiter was very pushy about the amount of food to order and our table definitely felt forced into ordering more than we wanted or needed, which added a weird pressure dynamic on the meal. Other than that, they look great care of us and we really enjoyed our experience.
Amazing food, but just a bit too loud/noisy. It is still one of my favorite SF restaurants.
This was our second time at The Progress. We celebrated my birthday and had a phenomenal evening. All of the dishes are thoughtful, creative, and delicious. Everything is shared family-style. Standout dishes include the "Progress Pizza," the triangoli, and the whole black cod platter.
Food is incredible...each dish seemed to out do the next. If you're looking for wonderful food and not a traditional experience..The Progess you will love!
Amazing food. Great value for the food you get. Server was very helpful. Explained stuff we didn’t understand. Can’t recommend enough.
Initial bottle of wine was musty and undrinkable. The veal was dry and over cooked. On the bright side, the ceviche was excellent.
Fantastic. Great flavors. Vegetables do make a meal. Skip dessert
Always a stop in when in SF. Never disappoints and often crushes expectations ! Bravo Progress!
The Progress completely lived up to expectations. Food was amazing and included the spring beans, boccarones, potato cloud, half duck, rabbit, ceviche, summer squash, squid ink noodles and some desserts. Favorites were the potato cloud and spring beans but nothing was bad. Service was good and easy. I would definitely come back.
We had an impromptu early anniversary celebration thanks to Hurricane Dorian stranding us in SF unexpectedly so we decided to make the best of a bad situation and we are sure glad we did! I wrote it was our anniversary when I made the reservation and they greeted us with a small glass of champagne each which was a nice touch! Great way to start off the celebratory night! The menu was delicious, the small plates allow you to try multiple items. We got the shishito peppers, the summer squash, and the potato and corn dish (it had a nicer name which I forgot) and they were all so delicious! We had the duck as our main dish and per my husband it was the best duck he’s ever had. The rice it came with was excellent as well! For dessert, th shot of peanut milk was surprising, I did not expect for it to taste almost like a peanut milk shake! We would definitely come again next time we are in town. Service was great as well! Very friendly and attentive waiter.
This place always knocks it out of the park. So good!
Perfect tastebud treat
Beautiful place, amazing food that would deserve a Michelin star!
Very good service (they just advised us to order way more than we need, I would say 4-5 plates for 2 are enough, they were saying 5-7).
Book in advance
One of the best meals of my life. Perfect.
Expensive, but the duck was the best I’ve had! Absolutely worth it!
Wonderful experience; loved the unique space and energy; service was spot-on from host to server; helped my wife celebrate her bday; incredible cocktails and food; highly recommend
Food totally sub par for the price tag. Great ambience, fabulous cocktails and really good service.
One of the best meals we have had in our time in San Francisco
Menu is a little confusing first time at the Progress, we get it now... the small plates sequencing would be easier for two than our party of six. Until the main (larger) dishes arrrived a couple at our table felt they didn't have enough food.
Logistics aside all the plates were delicious. Served at good temperature.
Great food and drinks. We ordered the quail roti, salmon tartare, oysters and rib eye. First two were amazing but we have had better oysters and rib eye. Overall I loved the experience and would highly recommend the place.
only downer was that we sat upstairs. It was cold under the air conditioner and it felt away from the ambiance of the restaurant
Visiting San Francisco and wanted to try a Michelin restaurant
Everything is good, but not great. You won't find yourself disappointed by anything, but similarly won't be floored if you're accustomed to fine dining.
Delicious, innovative food
Friendly, capable service
The best and most inventive food in the city.Service is excellent and done with a smile.
Great food, interesting ideas. Love the space and it's a cool crowd.
The Progress blew us away! Delicious food and cocktails. Amazing service and great energy.
Outstanding. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere electric and the staff very accommodating.
Had a great dinner. Truly a place "Fit for Foodies," as OpenTable suggests. Portions are a bit small, and prices a bit high. But, you get what you pay for in the high quality and incredible creativity in the food, and the stellar service.
Fantastic food and environment!!!!!!
We love the flavors and atmosphere at The Progress. Great wine list and cocktails. They are also very knowledgeable about celiac disease, and are able to modify many dishes. We discovered The Progress a few months ago and have been back several times. It's perfect spot for date night.
The best dining experience ever! I will definitely be back soon!
Every dish was clear as a bell. Ingredients were the star. Super knowledgable server. Not overly cheffy, they just let the food speak.
great, service, food
The food was really good, and the service as well! We enjoyed the laid back atmosphere while eating tasty and original dishes
We booked because we liked State Bird Provisions, which is owned by the same people. It was fabulous.
I love the Progress one of my favorite places in SF
Unbelievable food and service. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and helped guide us with food and cocktail preferences. Every dish was unique and delicious. We are from NYC with a ton of dining options and wish The Progress was closer to home. Highly recommend!
A solid establishment and great experience from beginning to end; Amazing food, ambiance and good service; I will be back
