Always love it here. Especially Norman the lobby cat.
Overall an alright experience over here! I want to highlight the exceptionally romantic atmosphere and the impeccable service during a busy Saturday night. The biggest complaint is the quality of the food. My boyfriend got a chicken entree while I got the salmon and both were cooked well, but really lacked flavor. Likewise, we ordered the risotto appetizer to split. We really wanted to love it. It was all just bland. Nothing that wow’d us. Really did lack flavor. I commend everything else though. We had a wonderful time and our server (whose name I can not grasp for the life of me right now. She had black hair ties in her long hair) was terrific!
Excellent service and nice setting within the hotel. Food was good.
The Red Lion is a must stop every time we visit the Berkshires. We had a lovely, quiet lunch, a great start to our weekend. Delicious clam chowder and beet soup, French dip and brown sugar cake and molten chocolate cake. The only disappointment was the Turkey burger, it was very dense and dry, but the fries were delicious.
Great food, great service and great location! I would definitely recommend for dinner. Very historic building and restaurant. Elegant touch with the piano being played in lobby
So nice!!! Elegant yet comfy and cozy! Excellent food and service!
This was a nostalgia stop for lunch. It definitely is showing some major wear and tear, and with all of the other available dining spots in and around Stockbridge & Great Barrington, the Red Lion needs some major updating. The food was okay, but given the prices, there are too many other options that offer better ambiance and food. We ate in the main dining room, which had white table linens, tired carpet, and the plaster on the walls and ceiling looked a mild earthquake away from coming down!
We popped our heads into the Lion's Den, their pub, on the way out, and that vibe was definitely better, although I didn't look at the menu.
Hi, Thank you so much for your feedback! As you mentioned, our dining room does have it's quirks due to the age of the building, but I do apologize that this visit did not meet your expectations. Would love to hear more about your experience with our menu! The Lions Den does have a great vibe with a different ambiance and atmosphere than our Main Dining Room with a variety of small plates! Hopefully you will join us again and get to experience that venue! Best, Shira Restaurant Manager
I love the Inn, however it would have been nice if there were some notification about the Father/Daughter event that was happening that weekend. We went there expecting to have a nice relaxing dinner and go down stairs for adult entertainment but the Lion’s Den was full of children as well! Not at all what we were looking for.
Hi Pam, Thank you so much for your feedback. We are looking into ways that we can avoid this happening in the future and communicate it to our guests. The group does come at the same time every year - which is the tail end of Presidents Weekend. Would love to speak about it further if you would allow and find a way to rectify it on your next visit. Please call (413) 298-1607. Hope we see you soon!
Always a favorite of mine but my meal was exceptionally good...crusted Cod with parsnip purée. Compliments to the chef.
We had a show in Great Barrington to attend and wanted a place for a delicious relaxing pre-show meal. So we picked our long-time favorite and were not disappointed. Service by Matt was spot on. My wife had the turkey dinner, as she often does, while I had the lamb meatloaf. We both started with the clam chowder. Food was delicious.
Only complaint little pricey
Would return again. Had great time
We love It and try to eat here anytime we are in town
Wonderful experience as always. We will see you again in June!
Great meal as usual except that the stuffing was served cold. Our waitress was not particularly attentive or warm -- a departure from our usual experiences at the Red Lion Inn. Ambiance was lovely as always.
Thank you so much for your feedback! I am sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit with us and would love the opportunity to discuss further if you are willing. My phone number is 413 298-1607. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Please try us again soon! Shira Wilkofsky Restaurant Manager
Very pleasant experience. Lovely setting; very good food and very pleasant attentive service. We would definitely go back!!
We usually love The Red Lion, but we were disappointed on this last outing. My 12-year-old Macallan Scotch (a brand with which I'm quite familiar) didn't taste like a Macallan; it was uncharacteristically rough, making me suspect that I had been given a cheaper brand. No rose wine was available for our dinner guest (the waiter explained that they used to serve a rose that came from a box, but had stopped doing so). My husband's soup was lukewarm, and his lamb meatloaf was very underdone. He sent the meatloaf back, and while it was returned better cooked, it didn't taste very good. (Our guest and I had the turkey, and it was good.) Our waiter forgot the bread he had promised - normally we'd find that understandable, but there were very few people there (it was a Monday night). He seemed more interested in chatting with the young ladies at a nearby table. The bigger gaffe was his removing my fork from my appetizer salad and placing it back on the table, for use with my main course. I expect better from a restaurant at this level and hope to see an improvement next time.
Hello, Thank you for your feedback. There is really helpful information in your review and we are addressing with our staff. That being said, I am sorry to hear that we did not meet expectations on your last visit. Considering that it wasn't a very busy night, we should have been more attentive and addressed the issues then. I'd love to invite you back so we can make it right. Call (413) 298-1607 so we can make reservation and rectify. Shira Wilkofsky Restaurant Manager
Wonderful location for celebration dinners. We had a great time.
Celebrated our anniversary and sat at the same table 31 years ago. We always love visiting the Red Lion over the years. It is like an old friend that makes you feel comfortable, with a lot of happy memories and great tradition. An excellent evening!
Christmas present to my girlfriend. Spent the weekend at Red Lion Inn as part of a visit to the Rockwell Museum and had dinner here Saturday night. Wonderful meal and a special Inn. Will be back for both!
I've dined at The Red Lion Inn many times and would normally recommend the restaurant to a friend. However, our experience Saturday night was quite poor. The server (Jorden K.) should not be in the hospitality business. The food was overcooked and dried out. One member in our party ordered a Rusty Nail cocktail which cost $21.00. That seemed very out of line for the restaurant.
We will return but if the next experience is as poor as Saturday night's experience we will dine elsewhere going forward.
Hi Michael, I am glad we were able to connect yesterday and discuss your dining experience! Please email me on your next visit so we can ensure you have a wonderful time! Best, Shira Restaurant Manager
A bowl of chowder and a French dip we're the perfect antidote for a cold and rainy Saturday afternoon. Friendly staff and solid food!
We ate in the Tavern. It was a long holiday weekend and the place was a bit crazy. My burger was delicious, my husband's fish was great. Hot cider hit the spot. The Tavern is always fun, but we prefer it in quieter times.
Wonderful historic inn with old world charm. The setting is the star! Food was above average and menu accommodated vegetarians well. Staff very pleasant and welcoming. Would definitely return.
Delicious food and excellent service. The setting is incredible--so many cool, interesting antiques. The Red Lion Inn somehow manages to be both upscale and incredibly cozy and comfortable at the same time.
We arrived two hours before our reservation and were still able to be seated. Can’t say enough about the gracious service, wonderful ambiance, and outstanding food.
The service and atmosphere were good, and the appetizers were delicious. The two main courses (cod and salmon) were overcooked and lacking flavor. We were very disappointed, considering the high price and reputation.
Love. This. Place. Had dinner here and came back the next morning for breakfast. Outstanding food and service in a charming setting. Highly recommend.
Waitress seemed frazzled and not focusing on table.. forgot who ordered what and forgot to bring food requested...
Food was good but expensive for the value...
Convenient place for meeting with family but noise level was high making conversation difficult...
overall good but has room for improvement...in service and value..
Lovely old-fashioned decor, ambience. Food was great and wait staff excellent. Went out of her way to make sure husband's food choice was gluten-free. Their menu specifies vegetarian and gluten-free dishes.
I just love this place--so old-fashioned New Englandy atmosphere.
This is a classic old Inn with “old school” charm! Great service, delicious food and a fire place with comfy chairs to sit in while you wait to be seated!
Beautifully decorated for Christmas inside and out. Went twice during the holiday for lunch, food very good. Great atmosphere for Christmas, would probably go to the Lion’s Den for more casual at other times.
We made a reservation for the tavern:
- I walked up to the Host station and told them I had made a reservation for the tavern and the response was oh we have room come this way. Did not acknowledge my name or that I had made the effort to reserve - the POINT - to them your website was obviously useless - So when I made a reservation with your site it told me they were basically booked from from 4 to 8 pm and had to make a reservation for 3:45... We were seated in a room with no one else in there and the waiter who came over stammered like he was stressed or nervous. We asked a question at first before anything ...We asked for French Onion Soup and the waiter said it’s not on our menu- I said but you serve it in the dining room and he said Yes- so I asked - can we also have it - he said I will go check... He NEVER came back ... more than 10 minutes later I see him wiping glasses - We LEFT!
I had a special lunch there with friends celebrating 65 years of friendship & the fact we are now all turning 70!
The food, service, ambiance & warmth of this special Inn met all our expectations and more.
Excellent! The four of us enjoyed it very much. We also loved the Christmas decorations throughout the Inn.
Overpriced for poor quality. We had prime rib which was served on top of the mash potatoes leaving them a bloody mess. Soup was warm and dinner was served cold. Rolls were stale although the dining room was busy. Dining room was cold and the harp made conversation at the table diffucult. We won't return
They ran out of food from the menu. It was so tight in there and the waitress must have hit my chair 10 times while walking behind me. The food that we did receive was nothing great. The noise level was horrible! I was very disappointed for the amount of money spent for a meal that was not that great.
Eating at the Red Lion Inn is always a wonderful experience. The food and service are always excellent. The ambience is so cozy and makes for a great experience. We live a four-hour drive away from Stockbridge but go up to that area several times a year and always include dinner or lunch at the Red Lion Inn.
All was fine except for lunch of soup, sandwiches, chicken pie 2 beers and 2 wines the price for the 4 of us was over $200. Excluding tip 😕 Question doing this again
Outstanding as usual. Food was delicious, service was impeccable and atmosphere delightful.
Great place to eat and celebrate with friends, never feel rushed.
Chicken pot pie is best I have ever had.
The Red Lion In never disappoints. From the delicious food to the beautiful decor to the harpist playing soft music in the background, the entire experience was memorable.
