    We were very disappointed with our meal here. The hostess was unfriendly, not smiling not acknowledging us other than looking at the computer to verify our reservation, picking up the menus and leading us to out table without saying a single word! The server at least smiled, and told us of the specials. The food was mediocre at best. The hamburger was underdone and barely warm, the coffee was good, but not hot, and the tea was served with only a cup half full of lukewarm water. All in all, a very disappointing experience, and we would not recommend The Smith, nor will we return.

    The Smith is ideal for a breakfast meeting. Service goes beyond the expected. Two carafes of water come to the table -- one still, the other fizzy. A freshly baked hard roll and butter as you wait for your companions. Wide range of choices on the breakfast menu. And it's quiet enough for conversation. Soon after our party of three were into our meal, a group of 6 young girls and 2 chaperones was seated next to us, chattering away. Soon another group of 4 girls and chaperone were seated next to them, and the happy chatter began to interfere. We asked if we could move to a quieter location. Certainly! Wait staff relocated everything cheerfully. Lunch is more populated than breakfast, still an excellent choice for conversation over good food.

    The food is excellent, the staff attentive. However, I will never go back. Even as a solo diner, the noise level is truly unbearable. NOTHING has been done to make the place enjoyable. If you plan on going with friends, be prepared to literally scream at each other, not worth the effort, do not waste your time.

    I definitely won’t be eating here again. The Bloody Mary was awful and tasted like pure horseradish, I couldn’t even taste the tomato juice. My niece ordered the brick pressed chicken and her first bite she got a mouthful of pure fat and had to spit it out and when she went to cut into another piece, she saw all fat and she couldn’t take another bite, though she did like the mashed potatoes.

    Decent food, great ambiance but consistently amateurish and disinterested service. I've been back a few times hoping to get a better server but they all seem unhappy to be working at The Smith.

    We have had Thanksgiving dinner at The Smith twice. Both times it was delightful. They serve traditional sliced turkey and gravy, but also offer more creative fare, such as turkey leg osso buco, turkey pot pie, and a delicious piece of salmon. Brussel sprouts were outstanding. It you want a somewhat different experience for Thanksgiving, The Smith is a good choice.

    Great location, food, and ambiance. Service was slooow and inconsistent. Appetizers took forever, then 3/5 main course came out just moments after the appetizers. Then the other 2 mains were 10 minutes later. Had to remind the server about my beer order after waiting another 10 minutes.

    The food was excellent. The service was so-so. We waited more than hour from the time we sat down until we got our food. We had to ask for refills on coffee and water rather than them bringing it around as per the other dining establishments. Staff was cordial but way to slow.

    The Smith burger was soggy from too much sauce and greasy. The fries were ok. Rock hard butter for the bread. Overall, the quality of the food has gone down at the DC location since COVID.

    Played Yelp roulette when I couldn't get a seat at Old Ebbitt. This place delivered across the board , with wonderful oysters, bloody Marys and breakfast fare. Thumbs up spot! And my group all agreed.

    We both enjoyed our meals. We opted to eat outside; there was a Christmas Market across the street and the lights and music made it delightful. It was also loud for our taste inside. Our server was great.

    Dinner at the Smith was great! There were three of us and we all ordered something different and we all enjoyed our dinners. We ordered the sticky toffee cake to share for dessert and it was also very good! We are glad we were able to eat outside because it was a reasonably warm November evening. Noise level was low, but inside noise level seemed really high, so again, glad we were able to eat outside. Will definitely return!

    Reserved on Opentable for a Thursday evening. Had to modify the arrival time and my guest and I ended up with outdoor seating. It was a perfect 70 degree November evening so it all worked out! I had the brick pressed chicken (31) which was smashed garlic potatoes, baby spinach, and lemon chicken jus. So Goooood! I want another now, too bad I couldn't take a to go plate (had an event planned after) Perhaps there was only 1 waitress because at times it seemed like she would disappear when we were looking for her.

    We opted to eat outside after walking in to the host station. The noise level inside was extreme. I don't know how anyone could hold a conversation in there. Outside was fine. I had salmon on a Caesar salad. My spouse had the bronzino which he said was very good.

    We went for brunch and to celebrate our recent marriage and my new husband's birthday. We each ordered an entree that came with a Brunch Cocktail included. The food was incredible! The drinks arrived after our food had already arrived, but worth the wait. At the end of the meal, we received a free 'Smores in a Jar' as a celebration which was delicious and so sweet. Would recommend to anyone wanting brunch in the DC area - can't wait to try for Lunch and/or Dinner!

    Our waiter was not as attentive. We kept having to flag him down to order, ask questions and alert him that our French fries tower got knocked over with fries everywhere in the floor. Luckily we weee able to get the attention of a different staff member who came over to clean up. Also, we were very confused. We’ve ordered mussels in so many different restaurants in different cities and the pairing has always been with garlic bread.

    Very, very disappointed. Very overpriced and small portions of mediocre food. The service was fine but it couldn't compensate for a poor meal across the three of us, each having very different courses. So many better options in the Penn Quarter, this will be my first and last time here.

    Very convenient to Capital One Arena. Food is good. Always have an issue with service. You get seated and then never come back unless you track them down. Took 20 minutes to get a drink & were charged for drinks that came with the brunch selections. Same experience whether it's busy or quiet.

    we ordered an appetizer which we never got until we were all done with our meal so I asked for the appetizer to be taken off our bill which they did. then we also asked for no butter on the toast and we were given butter on the toast so we sent it back and then when the bill came there was a charge for an extra toast which we never asked for and they charged us for a cocktail that was supposed to be included with the brunch meal. When we were getting ready to leave my son had to ask four times for A to go box for his food that he didn’t finish.
