Neat spot. 2 floors up at a place that has cinemas ...very nice bar, almost good view of the river but a new building by the FDR is blocking a lot of it soon. We met before a business meeting and the service was excellent -- we needed to prep and our server was flexible and checked-in at all the right times.
Good place to grab food before a movie at iPic - but the food selections in the theater are also good, so it depends if you want to eat ahead of time or not.
Spectacular food, ambiance, and service! Lots of variety on the menu and quick and friendly service! Will return!
I got a text from the manager on the day of my reservation saying that they don’t accept happy hour reservations, I sent a screen shot of the page where it literally says “you’re booking a happy hour reservation/menu/special” and he responded saying it was an error when they signed up for opentable. I made this reservation for my friends birthday HH so it would have been nice to have been giving me a bigger heads up... Maybe I would have made a REZ somewhere else. I showed up early and got spots and everything turned out fine, but had there not been space for us I would have been quite annoyed. The bar is cute , food is good, I’ll go back.. but it seems like they should just fix their website.
Made reservations for party of 15 through open table as the place doesn’t have active phone. Walked over the day before to confirm. Got verbal confirmation from hostess and electronic from the open table.
The place was not prepared to have us, understaffed, manger came out to reprimand me. Really unexpected turn of events for the 20th birthday celebration of my son. Restaurant needs manager that is on top reservations and values customers. Terrible experience
My red head waitress was awesome...very pleasant, knowledgeable and gave great food advice. The decor and ambience was freakin awesome
the service was poor and the food was mediocre . We were extremely disappointed.
Dinner for my husbands surprise trip to NYC. He loved it. I would Definitely come back to this establishment.
Friday afternoon lunch with coworkers. Prompt and polite service, good food, good daily specials.
The restaurant was very nicely decorated and the chairs were super comfy. The noise from the bar was a little loud until happy hour ended. The waiter was great though seemed a little overwhelmed by all his tables at the end. The food was amazing. However, drinks were a tad slow.
First time at The Tuck Room but not my last. Nine women having lunch in a great book room. Our waiter, Lorenzo, was fantastic. The menu has something for everyone AND there is a speakeasy room for a private party. Cooool.
The turkey burger had too much cheese. Otherwise brussel sprouts was delicious and truffle fries
In the reservation, I requested a seat at the bar so that we would be able to take advantage of Happy Hour. Upon our arrival, we were told the bar area was closed for a private event and we wouldn’t be able to take advantage of Happy Hour because of it.
If I note in my reservation that I want to be seated in bar area, I would’ve appreciated a courtesy call to let me know about the lack of happy hour. I could’ve decided for myself if I wanted to keep the reservation.
Husband’s first trip to New York
Very good food with excellent, friendly and professional service.
Our server was very attentive and courteous. The food was hot and excellent to the very last bite!
We enjoyed our dining experience, except for very long wait times for food to be prepared by the kitchen. We know it was not the fault of our server!
As a precursor, this restaurant just opened up recently but, I will not return. While most of the food was decent (we just did HH), the service was slow, very slow. We went because we had a show to catch across the street.
We had a private area of the restaurant for a large group- the service and attention were excellent. We shared 4 appetizers- the pizza and sliders were good and tasty.
The main courses- salmon, salads and burgers were good. My salad was supposed to have blackened shrimp, but it didn’t look or taste it- seemed to be shrimp cocktail taste. They forgot to add the chicken to another salad and brought it out separately- chicken was on the dry side. Pretty restaurant, nice vibe but food overall brought my rating down. Possibly would go back for drinks and appetizers and elsewhere for dinner
Service was terrible. Took forever to get drinks. We got our apps in a reasonable amount of time and the green beans and Ruben croquets were great. Meals took forever to get and they served one part of the table and then eventually the sides came out ohhh and then the other half of the table. My husband had schnitzel and it was just an over sized chicken tender. Would never return...so much better places for the price in NY.
Good Vibe, Good Food, Great location. Perfect spot for dinner date.
amazing, as always.
Great experience for restaurant week. Good sized portions, great waitress and amazing music. Perfect night!
Staff was accommodating and available when needed. Manager was very welcoming and went above and beyond for our celebration! Food was phenomenal!! Definitely will be coming back.
I love this place. The crab cakes and salmon are outstanding. Love the turkey burger as well! The staff is great.
Great service. Great location. Great decor. Most importantly great food.
The service was excellent. The food (burger & sweet potato fries) were excellent, but I found the curry ketchup a really unique and flavorful surprise. Wish they sold it in a bottle.
We had a reservation at 6 pm for 6 people on 7/31. The place had a great feel to it and we greeted politely and seated right away which was great. However from there things went down hill. The service was some of the worse I have ever had. I worked in the industry for 10 years when I write this as well. The server, although polite, was not very well trained or efficient at there job, especially with the place not very busy. We ordered a round of drinks and then after about 10 min, he came by asking for a food order. At that time our party had some fairly simple questions. One of which was asking how the Salmon was prepared an if it had the skin on it. The response was no it does not and we even explained that if does can they just remove it and have it on it and this is was must for the meal to be of preference. Again the waiter confirmed it does not and he would ask the kitchen to remove it was. Which was acceptable. 20 minutes later we still did not have our drinks. We had to flag the waiter down and ask where they were. He then rushed making them and delivered the wrong drinks to all the wrong people. 3 of the meals cam out 5 min later. Then another 3 meals 10 min later with all the wrong sides and the Salmon of course had the skin on it. Although the meal was removed from our bill, at no point were we offered an apology or did the manager come over to discuss the situation as we watched half the staff stand around. The food was bland at best from the burger, to the chicken schnitzel, the lobster rolls. It was a really disappointing experience as the place has potential being in the Seaport and with a great ambience. I would recommend retraining your staff and possibly having a manager who cares about customer experiance.
Went to the Tuck room for restaurant week. They are listed for having lunch and dinner on Sundays but when we got there the hostess stated that they dont honor it on weekends. Was very upset that they didn’t honor it even after showing them what was listed.
We had concert tickets at Pier 17 across the street and Tuck Room was perfect for pre-show drinks and food. Excellent in every way - cool vibe, really great drinks, food was delish.
I spent my 41st Birthday At the The Tuck Room and it was one of the best establishments I’ve been to in a long while. It was easy to get a table and the staff and environment was top notch. I don’t love in the city anymore but when I do visit this will be my go to place to catch up with the ladies
Tuck Room used to be my favorite restaurant. This time around, it was beyond disappointing. Service was subpar. Our waitress dropped the entire rack of ribs... The food was so disappointing. Had the dinner menu which included an app, entree, and dessert. Such a waste of money. The food was so mediocre. Barely even flavored, not tasty. Not what you expect from a restaurant in South Street / the financial district. Definitely not like how the restaurant used to be. Staff were unpolished, barely even apologetic about the food being dropped, and didn't offer anything to even try to make up for it. Overall, such a massive disappointment.
It’s a cool spot. Has happy hour from 5-7. Drinks ok, food ok.
Went for restaurant week. The tuna over crispy rice was the highlight of the meal. I had the chicken schnitzel which was pretty good. Could have used a bit more seasoning though.
As soon as you walk up the last flight of stairs/escalators to get to The Tuck Room, you're ooh-ing and ahh-ing. The bookshelves lining the walls create a cozy, study-like feel to the place, while the modern artwork, lights, and music contrast it nicely. The food was nothing short of fantastic; in fact, it was quite taller than fantastic by about two inches. We ordered the Ahi tuna poke, the tuna lettuce wraps, the peach and beet salad, and last (but most definitely not least) the cornbread. All in all, our eyes and mouths had the times of their lives while they were there and keep asking our legs to walk them back.
Sunday lunch was fabulous. Great food wonderful server. The ambiance is fantastic.
Our server in particular was nice. But operationally, the restaurant needs help. The hostesses were very unfriendly with “attitudes.” We arrived and hour early for our reservation and were offered a table to a 1/2 empty place at 9:10. We ended up just sitting at the bar. The food took 45 min.
We had an awful experience. Having eaten here before we made a reservation requesting a window seat in order to watch the fireworks. We arrived early and there were plenty of tables open. At 8 pm when it was our turn to sit there were still window tables open and we were seated in the back room. No window view at all. We requested to speak with the manager and he gave us one lame excuse after another about many requests for the window seats. Even after pointing out to him that while I understood that , we were ready to eat, it was our time to eat and there was a window table open and so the table should be ours he still made us sit in the back room. Not even at another table where window views were possible. I specifically chose this restaurant for its proximity to the fireworks so our entire evening was a bust. There was also a woman camped out in the ladies room with two kids running all over the place and the staff was unaware of that situation. Our food was just ok. There are better places in the area to eat for sure. Very disappointed. Don’t bother requesting anything special because you most likely won’t get it. Also, the club type music was so loud you could barely holed a conversation at your table.
Our waitress was great and I wish I had remembered her name so I could acknowledge her. She provided excellent service. A couple examples include when our drinks came and were too sweet so she had them remade. She even had the music turned down when the DJ started playing and we weren’t able to hear each other in conversation.
Conveniently located near the subway ...for those that do not drive. Parking is very difficult to find. This location is perfect for the first date, and celebrate a year later. We dined at The Tuck Room, followed by a lovely movie at Ipic.
