We had Saturday brunch and it was delicious! The service was excellent and we can’t wait to return.
We were warmly greeted ! Great table . Diego was our server and was excellent in every way ! Loved the food / group esp loved the bacon and toast !
We can walk to the Bakery and do so often. The prices are always relatively high, but we look the other way due to convenience. This last visit, on Dec 2, for my adult daughter's informal birthday dinner, was shockingly bad. My daughter ordered a margherita pizza. Visually: it was pathetic. It looked as if it had come out of a freezer box. The cheese was sparse and scarcely melted. The reddish sauce was also sparse and looked like it came straight from a can. The dough was "not right;" the waiter subsequently told us it was "pita" bread dough. It surely was not the usual pizza dough used at the Bakery. We NEVER send food back, but this was a joke. We are guessing that the cooks never showed up after Thanksgiving. She reordered the "butternut squash steak," which was ok... long pieces of squash served with wild rice and mushrooms. Massive profit margin on this one. Really... the price/quality ratio is totally out of whack at the Bakery. We now prefer the Pub. You pay marginally more for dinner, but the quality is always higher and ... you get bread/rolls included with the service. SHAMEFUL to serve meals like this, and charge disproportionately high prices. We realize we are subject to "unusual" pricing as residents of Woodside. But we are not fools.
Amazing setting and service. Kudos to Petra the great bartender who makes perfecto Cosmos.
Generally reliable though very expensive for what you get.
Village Bakery is great. Food is terrific. It is a great location and a lovely ambiance. Had many great meals there and it never disappoints. The burger is utterly memorable.
So it is churlish of me to complain about this evening. Food as ever - delicious. Atmosphere relaxing. Service awful. Drink orders took forever. Some never came. Wine bottle was whisked away and did not return until the end of the meal and only because we asked. It’s a blip I’m sure but not not what we’ve come to expect.
We’ll be back ... but not for a while.
The restaurant is lovely. You can either sit inside or on their heated patio. We sat on the patio, which had nicely cushioned seats (an added plus). The menu is extensive and has many wonderful choices. Great service from the wait staff.
However, you will pay a king's ransom for a teeny tiny plate of food. I am a small person, but was surprised at how small my plate was. It was brunch. Of the four of us, three had the eggs florentine. Two eggs with a bit of sauteed spinach on two, tiny little toast points with hollandaise sauce. I believe this was at least $17. Other than the truly tiny portion size of my dish, I had no complaint.
Met for lunch and had a delicious pumpkin soup and excellent flatbread with garlic. We sat on the back patio which was a bit chilly/breezy, though they have heaters above the seating area. Food and service were very good. Parking can sometimes be a challenge.
The Village Bakery is a really nice place for brunch, as well as every other meal. We are always happy with the food and both its freshness and creativity. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The french toast is to die for - the best I've ever had
I've had delicious meals there before, but last night the prime rib was cold (sent back twice), and the bavette streak had out-of-the-bottle, unmoistened, unincorporated dried marjoram leaves poured all over the top. It seems unlikely that those dishes were prepared by a professional chef.
Really Disappointing. The food was either bland or really over salted. The medium rare steaks were served medium well and chewy. The food quality has declined since the last visit.
This is our favorite hangout. Love the atmosphere, food and service
I loved this place when they first open but feel the service and food quality has gone down in the past year. While we had a lovely server, the front hostess and she did not coordinate and a cake I had ordered from their bakery for a birthday lunch was never served to us. Our french fries were lukewarm but the Parkerhouse rolls were outstanding as usual! I'll try again but my guests were underwhelmed.
Staff was not very friendly
I will never come here again. The atmosphere is pretentious, the food is overrated. I had a reservation and yet was seated in a "time out" table by the entrance. I will definitely not recommend this restaurant.
A go to place for weekend brunch for us. Only complaint is charging extra for 2 pieces of toast when that normally is standard when having a restaurant's "American" breakfast (2 eggs, sausage and potatoes). That said, the sourdough toast is terrific as is the pork sausage, potatoes and eggs as well as the huevos rancheros entree.
Great atmosphere. Food and service were very good.
Food was excellent and so was service. Only complaint we had was paying $7 for a bottle of water rather than being offered the tap water which was free.
Love this place, we dine here often and is one of our favorite hangouts. Also love the breakfast, nice atmosphere and great
Huevos rancheros .
Had a great lunch.. However, there was sand in the lettuce on my guest's salad accompanying
his club sandwich--not washed well.
We enjoyed our dinner with family we had not seen in awhile. Everything but the food was just great. Chicken paillard was not good. Caesar salad leaves tough and impossible to cut or chew. Ice cream dessert was just fine. Our waiter was excellent.
Wonderful service and delicious specials. We were indoors for lunch in the handsome dining room. The servers were friendly and engaging (but totally appropriate).
Ambience and service are excellent. The "Ala Carte" menu should be reviewed. The fried chicken was very good but does not come with a side dish. $8.00 for a dozen green beans is excessive. They should be included. Also, $6 for TWO SMALLParker House rolls is excessive also.
We celebrated my birthday over dinner on the patio. We had a friendly and attentive server. I enjoyed my Caesar salad and roasted salmon. My husband had the summer corn soup and prime rib. We paid $8 more for tasty bread, and more for sparkling water. It added up quick. Service was great and it was a lovely atmosphere.
Lovely! Perfect date, perfect food!
Beautiful restaurant and bar that should have food quality equal to its ambiance. Menu is not impressive and quality of food uneven. Our food was luke-warm and over done, from start to finish. It should not be difficult for this restaurant to provide high quality food, given the experience of its owners and the location in Woodside, California. We hope the owners take a hard look at the menu and eat the food customers receive. Please give up the melba toast, which is cold and hard, and the Toll House Rolls for $7. Buy some great California sourdough bread and serve it free of charge.
Pleasant environment with wonderful food choices, friendly wait staff and good drink and wine menu.
It was great
Everything was outstanding.. incredible food and service. Highly recommend for any occasion.
Delicious drinks and fresh food!
Service was poor. The reception was staffed by a rude woman who didn’t seem to really want us there. When being seated, they gave us a poor table with a number of poor excuses as to why two persons couldn’t be seated at a tour topper when others were.
Really not sure why this place exists.
Lovely outdoor seating. The food was just OK. I ordered the pizza with squash and cherry tomatoes. It was pretty good, but could have used more cheese and chili peppers. My friend ordered the faro and vegetables, which was drenched on oil. The service was OK, not great, but the bill had an incorrect charge for the pizza. We finally got it corrected after a long wait.
A very enjoyable evening outside on the patio. A great place for a casual dinner, especially as in our case on short notice. We will return.
We went for brunch and the food was great as always. By always, I mean that we have eaten there before but only for a late breakfast.
Really like this place but have to say that it drives my husband crazy that they charge $8.00 for two rolls...especially since it's a bakery next door!
The spinach dip, pizza, heirloom tomato salad and fried chicken were excellent, however the lasagna was terrible. It was an inch and a half by three piece of pasta in the center of a plate of ground meat sauce that just tasted like a bad sloppy joe. I was up all night with indigestion. I should have sent it back I guess, but everything else was so good I didn't.
Service was terrible
