Was good with a great view the food was excellent
I wasn't very impressed by the food given the prices. The service and atmosphere were fantastic tho and I really enjoyed the lavender mojito
We booked our reservation two weeks in advance for a table for two. When we arrived 15 minutes early we were asked to wait, no problem we were early. We were taken to a table for two out in the walkway where three such tables were lined up. We immediately said no this is too noisy our hostess blankly stared at us and said, "We're busy this is all we have. We are booked with large parties that have taken up a lot of the tables so nothing more will be available." Then she turned on her heel and walked away! For the next hour we watched several couples escorted to tables for two all over the restaurant! We have eaten here at least 50 times over the years. The server was excellent and the food was excellent but the evening was ruined for us when we walked in the door and met the hostess! Maybe there was an invisible velvet rope and we didn't meet the criteria to get through! Maybe I can find cioppino somewhere else!
Always a beautiful view. Meal was well paced and delicious
Wonderful window view. Service was outstanding, but gave a four instead of 5. , because they only gave us 2 pieces of bread and that was in between appetizer and main entree.
Very poor service. After waiting over an hour and only received soup , we finally received our 12 oysters. Waiter never came and checked on us during any of this time. We then declined to order entrees and left.
We went with some friends to dine here to celebrate my husband’s birthday while in San Francisco. What a disappointing experience. When we arrived we were told our table wasn’t ready (despite having made a reservation) and ushered to a seating area where we wait half an hour. They gave us drink menus but then didn’t come back to see if we wanted drinks. Once seated our table was very nice with a great view. My husband and I ordered oysters to share, a cocktail, and the mixed grill. Our raw oysters came but apparently had not been properly cleaned. Both oysters had pieces of shell in them. Luckily I realized it before chewing and spit the shell out. My husband was not so lucky and the roof of his mouth was cut and he started bleeding. When our server finally came back to the table, my husband showed him all the blood on his napkin and that he was pretty upset about being cut by the oyster. A manage came over and apologized and told us dinner would be on her. Our entree came and the seafood was cooked perfectly. Our friends had ordered the same and thought so too. When the bill arrived at the end of the night, they charged us for our drink and an oyster!! What? I told our server (who had been mostly absent for the dining experience) that we had been told the manager was taking care of our dinner. He took off the oyster and still charged us for our cocktail. Our friends were charged full price for their meals as well. Not once did they mention happy birthday to my husband nor acknowledge the special occasion. Pretty disgraceful experience at a restaurant that is supposed to be a landmark in the city.
I always bring out of town guests to The Waterfront. It has a terrific view of the Bay and the Hornblower Yachts, Treasure Island and the lights on the Bay Bridge. Wonderful outdoor patio and very attentive staff.
Repeated requests for appropriate utensils. Only got one serving of bread
Had a reservation but told to wait for the table, despite a dozen empty tables. Food came out before wine! Service not very friendly.
It was s great night with delicious food and a lovely waiter!
Lovely birthday lunch for my husband. Everything was top notch!
Waterfront will primarily be selected for the view and it has a great view. Our dinner was good but not great. The value depends on what you went for. Good value for the view, not so great for the food. We had a visitor who enjoyed the view so good value.
Always offer the best tables available. Super staff.
Beautiful setting looking out at the water. Great food. The short ribs were tender and perfectly seasoned. Tuna tartare was a great appetizer
Upon request, they gave us a table by the window and the server was very attentive.
I had read so many rave reviews of this restaurant that I was expecting something better. The food was good but not great, the service was slow at first but then once we gave the server our order, the dinners arrived quickly, leading us to feel like "Move 'Em In/Move 'Em Out." We didn't get a great view, and what we did catch a glimpse of was boats in the harbor and not a lovely sunset. We did not enjoy a lovely, relaxing dinner. The hustle bustle of the servers rushing by ruined that. We were disappointed.
Beautiful view and spacious restaurant. The service was great and the waiter was very informative of the menu.
Everything was excellent.
Great birthday dinner
The food was very good, the service friendly and efficient. This is one of the best restaurant from which to enjoy the Bay Bridge light show!
Best restaurant on the water. Love view of BAY bridge at night. Waiter incredible
Waiter was dismissive and inattentive, the food was mediocre - I had the seafood platter: shrimp was over cooked, salmon dry, smallish 1/2 lobster tail was adhered to the shell and the scallops were a bit slimy also the food was just dumped in front of us...ambiance is great with an amazing view...it was a Sunday night, maybe they were having an off day?
Amazing views of the Bay Bridge! Food was very good.
Anniversary! Love it there! The Nutella pie was “to die for”!
Enjoyed our meal and prompt service. However, when my husband discovered a fly in his wine glass the waiter suggested he could suck it out with a straw. YUCK! Not happy about that!!!
Poor, awkward service and average food - not really worth the price. We had a reservation for 6 ppl with open table. Arrived 15 minutes before and checked in. The waiter prepared the table for only 5 ppl and had to correct it last minute. Then, we were asked if we wanted to start with any appetizers - we ordered appetizers and the waiter was confused why we only chose appetizers and left to consult with a manager. We were not even asked about the entrees right away but only after an awkward intervention of the manager. We ordered lobster risotto, clam chowder, crab cakes and oysters. I had to remind the waiter about the oysters as he forgot about it and they were already serving entrees. The appetizers were mediocre. The only pleasant surprise was the clam chowder. Our entrees which were the halibut, seafood linguini, new york steak and other were of an average quality. We also ordered from the dessert menu. The Bailey’s and Coffee, although served as hot drink, were served in a wine glass making it very unpleasant to drink initially. We did enjoy the creme brulee and the mini sampler. The Soufflé Cake that one of us ordered was, once again, forgotten by the waiter. At this point, we were already finished with all of our desserts and were waiting for 30 minutes for the souffle. When I asked for how long will it take to get it, the waiter seemed flustered and rushed to the kitchen (we had an event planned to go to after the dinner and were starting to get anxious about whether or not we will be late). When he came back he announced that it takes 15 minutes to make it (we have bee already waiting for 30!) and said it should be ready in 3 minutes as if it was in preparation when clearly they haven't started preparing it cause it was served after 15 minutes as stated in the menu. At the end, they didn't even refill our water or attended to us to ask if that is all. I am very surprised that this restaurant has such high rating for the food or the service.
We had a wonderful experience. Staff was very friendly and engaged us in great conversation. Benjamin was our server for the evening - great sense of humor. Definitely recommend the mixed grill.
Food is delicious, service is great. The interior is good, I really liked the tables with tablecloths. The view is amazing. We come back an recommended our friends visit this restaurant.
Always a great place.
very good, but expensive restaurant, we did not eat $100 a person
Good. Good food and great atmosphere
It's quite simple....arrived on time for our 8 pm reservation, seated around 8:20 (after reminding the hostess about our table request-still no problem), ordered our appetizer, salad, and entrees around 8:40, received our salad AND appetizer together around 9:40, and finally our dinner at 10 pm just before the restaurant closed. In fact, we wanted the fresh oysters for our appetizer, but the waiter talked us out of it because they may take too long because the kitchen was backed up. Meanwhile, we watched two tables near us receive oysters and our ahi poke took even longer. Nothing in our meal was worth the long wait and my wife had to return the Caesar salad because the lettuce was brown and wilted, but the restaurant did not remove it from the bill after we asked. It's too bad because the location is great and our previous experiences had not been this bad.
The waiter arrived after 15 minutes. The first course was served after 1 hour 15 minutes. The main courses were almost cold.
Poor service, got starters 2hrs late, dinner 3hrs late, and was lukewarm! Pathetic service by waiter—was rude and obstinate—when asked about the delay, just said ‘it’s too bad!’ and shrugged his shoulders and walked away!!
Was an important Business meal so was disastrous!
Only good thing was the poor manager(Kimberly) who tried her best to manage the number of people complaining about the delay.
AVOID AT ALL COST!!
minimum requirement : great food. does that VERY well.
good advice from waiter re: wine
the rest: good rather than great
Our drinks and appetizer came after our meal. I was served a whole crab and had to ask for a shell cracker. I asked for a seafood fork and was given a salad fork. I couldn’t even eat over half of my meal. It was $85.00 and I left hungry. I’ve never had such a bad experience before in a high end restaurant. Our waiter didn’t ever ask how our food was. Very sad.
Took nearly two hours to receive food. Restaurant unilaterally cancelled our appetizer orders without asking us because “it was too busy.”
Enjoyed our early dinner and the food selections we ordered. Service is outstanding!
Spectacular view of the Bay Bridge for dinner. Outstanding meal shared with friends. A new favorite in San Francisco!
