I had booked a corner table for my wife’s birthday, through Open Table. When we arrived we had the best table in the restaurant. Service was outstanding. Food was very good, a bit small for the price on the entree’s. All-in-all, an outstanding view, EXCELLENT SERVICE and good food. We were impressed. Dave, Scottsdale, AZ
Disappointed in the waitress!! Two of us were going to split the crab sandwich and she told us we wouldn’t be happy because the sandwich was very small. She even showed us the size with her hand. The two of us both took half the sandwich home. I should have insisted she take one of the sandwiches off the bill!! We knew we were going out to dinner that night and told her! Very upset about it!!
Good Service and good food, had a nice experience. Had not been here for a very long time.
They cannot cater to food allergies. The manager and server were rude throughout the process when we were asking for customizations to accommodate our various food allergies and preferences. We called ahead and spoke to the manager about our allergies and was assured they will be able to cater to the allergies. Not the case when we showed up. I understand the restaurant recently re-opened and is short-staffed. However, there is no excuse and no-need to be rude and combative towards your customers. How things are said matters. We dined at other SF restaurants that same weekend and did not run into this issue. We will not be back at Waterfront, sadly. It was one of our favorites pre-pandemic.
Great table in corner of outdoor protected area with fabulous view fir out of town guests.
Didn’t know they have thanksgiving menu - was hoping the regular one but it was good. The services is terribly slow - I order drinks and see it at the bar for 20mins before someone delivered. Totally understand that it’s holiday and they’re short on people. But if you pay a lot for the foods, I would hope they check on us at least once every 15-20mins - they only checked on us like 2X and we’re there for almost 2hrs. The view is amazing through…oh well. 😂😜
We had a lovely table with a beautiful view; the service & food were fine. Our wonderful experience was ruined by a crying, at times screaming, baby at the table right next to us. We could hardly have a conversation over the racket! Over 3/4 of our time there was taken up with the crying baby. Can’t believe I spent over $350 to endure that torture! I think it is the restauranteer’s responsibility to ask the parent to take the child out until the crying stops.
I was there for thanksgiving dinner and it was so dry and no gravy they ran out i think lol the restaurant was nice. It took one hour for the food to be served. You can bring your own bottle
A great setting, helpful staff and OK food (Thanksgiving price-fix dinner may have not been a good sample of the menu). My party of four enjoyed the experience.
We totally enjoyed Thanksgiving at the Waterfront restaurant.
Wonderful view, atmosphere, and food is delicious.
The host was petulant, and although we had a reservation he only offered us a “couch” to dine. We left and decided to have dinner somewhere else.
I love this place for all occasions but its not a great value. Food was good as usual but the portions were very small. Went for business lunch on Nov 21. $100 + tip for chicken breast and small cut of salmon. 2 beers.
The food was great, service was perfect and the view is exceptional.
First time since before the pandemic and as good as ever.
Beautiful view and ambiance.Been here many times over the years and really enjoyed the birthday celebration.
Food was overpriced, soup needed flavor, and being in SF you can’t screw up clam chowder. Service was great but very overpriced, I have payed what I payed in the past but for a far better meal, overall great view and nice time
Very good food and the service was good as well. The portions were on small side and we had to ask for bread which we did not expect. Otherwise overall, very good
Food was mediocre at best. I wasn’t all too impressed with the selection and variety, however the linguini and clams were pretty flavorful
The chilie appetizers were the standout appetizer. Very good food and service.
My friends and I enjoyed a long dinner, upstairs, at the Water Front Restaurant. Our table was near a window with a beautiful view of the Bay Bridge and bustling activity around the Ferry Building at night. Our waiter was excellent and discreetly checked in with us to ask if we needed anything. One of my friends is allergic to onion, and he was very good at checking which dishes did not have onions. In fact, at one point during the meal, I started to share a taste of my Cioppino sauce with her, and the waiter, passing by, stopped, and said to her, “Don’t eat that - onions!”. For dinner, we ordered the Cioppino (sauce could be spicier), mixed seafood grilled (excellent), and the petrale sole meuniere (superb - made my friend recall the film “Julia & Julie” ). We also got a side of sauteed spinach with pancetta & garlic, and an appetizer buttermilk friend calimari & rock shrimp (delicious, lightly fried, and very fresh). Everything was great. My only disappointment was the dirty & briny martini which lived up to its description—it tasted like briny saltwater. We had glasses of wine with dinner. I should have complained about the cocktail, but honestly, everyone was having a good time, and it felt so great to be in a nice restaurant after over a year of being Covid-bound. We ended the meal splitting two desserts: Nutella pie (hazel nuts & caramel) and a gooey chocolate cake. We didn’t finish these, but wow—very creamy & chocolaty! So, yes —I highly recommend this restaurant!
Beautiful views ambience excellent food delicious. Server was good but I felt invisible. He seemed to defer to my dining companion but overall a great experiece.
I was traveling to the restaurant from about 35 minutes away and had many complications with Uber. I called the restaurant And even though they were fully booked they adjusted my reservation twice which ended up being 45 minutes later than my original reservation. They seated us in a beautiful spot with a view of the water. The service was excellent, the food was pristine, the atmosphere was perfect, we both enjoyed our very leisurely dinner. They didn’t rush us at all and everything was timed very well. I left a really good tip. I will definitely go back when I’m in San Francisco again. Thank you Waterfront for a lovely evening.
We had a great experience in the Waterfront Restaurant and Cafe! The view is amazing, the food is delicious and the personnel is very attentive and polite. Totally recommend !
First time to The Waterfront, and it won’t be our last! Fantastic window table overlooking the bay. Food was delicious!
I don't know why this is rated so low on Yelp! But I honestly loved the food and the service. It's not value for money but overall, everything was quick and delicious. The Calamari was light and crispy. They even deep fried lemon slices which were yummy! The sausage pizza was great too! Also, amazing view!
The food was lovely. The only issue was that our waiter charged us regular prices rather than happy hour prices.
Excellent service - really wonderful staff. Food was good as well. We were able to get a table outside with a wonderful view of the water and enjoyed the awesome sunset and catching up in person safely.
Thank you to Emory, Ashley for their great service! Teşekkür ederim! :)
Love this restaurant. We have never had a bad meal or bad service. Great view and I will always plan to meet out of town guests here. The view, food and service is without a doubt the best.
We have lived in the neighborhood for 20 years. I can recommend this restaurant, walkable, good food, beautiful views.
Saw this restaurant had reservations available so we tried it out. We ended up staying for about 2 hours and had to ask for the check twice. Started off with a basket of bread which ended up being the best part of my meal. Clam chowder was sooo bland and all I could taste was the celery, it had an abundance of celery. Husband ordered oysters which he loved. My main was a Caesar salad with chicken and husband had the ribeye. Although he said it was great, it looked more like a ny strip steak. My salad was horrible. I had one glob of dressing hidden under a piece of romaine and the remainder of my salad was dry. Chicken also needed a ton of salt. I ordered fries that never came along with lemons and we had to ask for spoons for our clam chowder. Server was not attentive whatsoever and would often walk past us and attend to other tables around us without stopping. Probably won’t be back.
Dinner with friends before a concert! We had a delicious dinner, served by a friendly efficient staff on a beautiful day overlooking the Bay.
We were a group of 11. Felt welcomed and wanted from the moment we entered. The food is simple and well prepared, more banquet than fine dining. Perfect for what we wanted and the views are great. It was a beautiful occasion on a warm, clear October SF evening. They even went out of their way to acknowledge our occasion by sending out a piece of cake with a “ Happy “ message in chocolate. Nice touch ! My only criticism is the bathroom was not cleaned.
My wife and I have been here several times, both on our own and with friends. Each time has been very pleasant, the food has been excellent. The view out over the Bay is delightful, the service great. We always enjoy it.
Very friendly and very beautiful place food is very delicious and fresh we recommend for everyone this restaurant is very nice place romantic
