The Yard - Portland
Date night at the Yard did not disappoint. My girlfriend and I enjoyed an assortment of delicious appetizers with a hot cocoa board with cheesecake to end the night.
The igloo was just warm enough to feel cozy and comfortable on a very windy and chilly day in Portland. From start to finish, our server Ryan was very friendly and helped us navigate the menu. She was very attentive and checked in on us throughout the evening.
Highly recommend visiting the igloos at the yard for date night or otherwise.
It was a 40 reservation fee and then a 100 minimum and for that price I would save your money. Igloo lights didn't work because it wasn't sunny... seating were plastic Adirondack chairs and most were broken. The table in the middle was a propane fire pit table. Food was not great. Very bland and tasted like its been in a crockpot or from a can. All the food came at the same time. We could of done this in our backyard.
We got a heated igloo and some alcoholic mint chip ice cream. Hard to beat that!
Friendly staff, great drinks, shots, desserts and snacks!! Igloos are fun and inside decor is fun and inviting! We will be back often!!!
Awesome place! The outdoor igloos were so cozy and fun!
We had so much fun while we were there. The staff was very friendly and easy going. The only complaint is I wish we could have stayed in the igloos longer and there were more food (dinner) options. The food and drinks otherwise were really yummy and fun!
Waitress was super friendly! Igloo was really fun and there was live music inside — great time.
We had so much fun in the igloo for happy hour! The drinks and apps were a great deal, and the atmosphere is super fun!
We rented an igloo it was a little cool even with the heater. Food wasn’t that good deserts and drinks were better. We got an hour and a half it definitely was rushed they should be giving people 2 hours since we are paying $40 to rent it. We got a appetizer, 2 sandwiches 4drinks and 6shots we spent $175 with tip not including the igloo rental. Total waste of money definitely not worth what we got for that price and we didn’t even have time for desert we were rushed out. Would consider going again if they improve their menu and the food that’s being offered.
Do your self a favor and do not spend money on the “igloo”. Shame on the yard for advertising these the way you do. 1. There is no heat, it’s freezing in New England right now a fake fireplace does not heat a space 2. Once your zipped in good luck getting any service without having to get it on your own.
I would have rather spent 50$ on McDonalds and say by on a bonfire
Price was high for for drinks and food that is mediocre at best if you are looking for good drinks and food this is not the place for the price spent the weekend in Portland with my wife planned out the hole trip this place was a disappointment our waitress was awesome best part of experience was the waitress
We were trying to have our first night out experience, since we were all vaccinated. Still wore our masks when the server would come in and she seemed surprised by that, unfortunately. Our "igloo" heater wasn't working well, if at all, so it was pretty cold. The lighting was also poor so we were just sitting chilly inside a dark plastic bubble. We only had 4 but it would have been a really tight squeeze for 8. Honestly, for a $40 rental fee, plus minimum bill requirement of $100, not worth it. We had one drink (my cider wasn't good but the donut was) and left, might as well just stay home.
Our igloo’s zipper was broken and our door was held together with Velcro strips and was freezing. We received no silverware for our apps and by the time they came back the nachos where cold and soggy. We ended up inside the restaurant after apps and a drink because the hassle of getting in and out of the igloo was Insane. Monday is all day happy hour, however we received our Bill with full prices and when asked to have it fixed, it was a hassle. Waitress also forgot our card behind the bar after swiping (honest mistake) but when she brought it back over she was not very pleasant about it.
Bubble was cold and so then was the food. There was a heat source in the middle of the bubble they said they couldn’t start for safety reasons but I had seen them working before. They also had issues with resv and inside seating. Doubt I will return.
Not worth the money. Overpriced. Food not as tasty as expected. Atmosphere not as cozy and warm as I thought. Service was poor. Overall, very dissapointed!
The ambience was amazing, but the service we received was nonexistent. We were never checked on after ordering even though it seemed the staff outnumbered the customers. We had to keep going to the bar to ask for silverware, napkins and food. It's a shame because the place is beautiful. Really had my hopes up and was highly disappointed.
We really enjoyed our evening in the igloo! The hot chocolate boards were amazing! Our food was delicious and served quickly. I highly recommend!
We reserved an igloo from 7:30 to 9:00 on Thursday, Jan 21 for my friend's birthday. We were told it would be $40 to reserve the igloo and that we needed to spend a least $100 on food and drinks, which was not a problem. However, when we wanted to order more food around 8:10 we were told that kitchen was closed. Why would you let us reserve an igloo until 9:00, and make us pay $40 for it, and make us pay at least $100 on food and drinks, if the kitchen was closing before our 9:00 time was up? I want to stress that the wait staff were very nice and were just doing their jobs. After talking to the kitchen, they came back and said "as a favor" they could make us two more BLT's and one more pretzel, which made us feel like we were putting people out. The Yard's website says (I copied and pasted here) "BAR MENU: Kitchen closes at 8:30 pm Sunday-Saturday." This was a Thursday night - I had checked ahead of time when I realized I could only reserve the igloo from 7:30 to 9:00. I wouldn't go back. We were disappointed.
We reserved an igloo and it was a huge disappoint. We were seated late and still asked to leave even though we did not get our hour and 1/2 time in the igloo. Just as well.
We rented one of the igloos. NOT their fault but apparently the lights for the igloo are solar powered. It had been a rebuttal day so no lights. It completely took away from the “igloo experience”. Felt more like sitting in a greenhouse. HOWEVER, James was our server and he was phenomenal!!!!
Not a huge food menu but the food was great on what there was. The drinks were phenomenal! Our waiter was amazing ! The guy at the door was a little rude. Overall is was a good time the igloos were great!
Great Industrial feel, Our Server was awesome, Food was Sub-Par but the igloo rental made it worth it.
The igloo was unique but the heater got turned off about 20 minutes before our reservation was up. The food took 45 minutes for simple menu items and was just ok. Our food came at 8:30 and 9:00 sharp we were told we have to leave. Most of us had fresh drinks we could not finish. I was charged twice for the igloo rental so now I have to contact them for a credit to my card. They have kinks to work out, 90 minutes is too short when drinks and food take forever.
Fantastic set up for something different! Great food, atmosphere and high energy staff.
The igloo was cool, but what you paid dues not equal what you get. With a limited menu, some items were good and others were just so so. Disappointing.
We reserved an igloo for a Friday evening and it was amazing. From the moment we arrived our waitress was friendly and accommodating. Where it was happy hour, we decided to try all of the starters on the menu. You cannot go wrong. The bacon basket, cooked to perfection, Chips and dip (we added guacamole) delish! The buffalo chicken dip, just get it. Warm and spicy, so, so good.
I ordered the blood orange margarita and OH MY GOODNESS, it was the best margarita I have had in years. The wine selection and beer selection, is also great. (basically, you cannot go wrong with any of their choices)
For the meals we split them between us (we had over indulged on apps but it was totally worth it) The Sugar Waffle Pork Sandwich, I am not even sure how to describe this beautiful creation. The perfect amount of smoky, BBQ, spiced pulled pork on a waffle with a sugar crust. Just try it.
The Pork Tacos were also delicious!
Again, our server was amazing. She was the only one out on the patio/igloo area and we never felt missed or forgotten.
I highly recommend trying the Yard. Everything from the ambiance to the food to the staff was incredible.
We reserved an outdoor igloo on New Year’s Eve with our teenagers and dog! Everything was spectacular. We learned that we are obsessed with sugar pearl waffles in all forms. We were warm and tasty with our fire. We had so much fun and enjoyed everything! Service was great.
Did the igloo, fun time alright food, good drinks but the cost is very high.
thought the bubble was a cool idea but wasn’t as special as had anticipated. was cold inside even with the heater and the speakers outside were super loud.
wish was better food choice. drinks were good and our waitress was good.
Probably won’t go back but was a cool idea.
I thought the pricing was excessive for what we got. The menu was super limited and didn’t even have any real entrees. Food was pretty good but not worth the extra cost.
Service, ambiance, food and drinks were all amazing!!
We ate out in an igloo, which you have to reserve. I’m pretty sure 8 people is the max & that’s how many we had. We were a little crowded but we’re a close group so it was good. We also were there on one of the coldest fall nights. But we dressed warm & there was a heater. We also warmed up with the yummiest, most fancy hot chocolates ever. The food was very tasty & the service was excellent. We had so much fun & we will definitely go again!! The ambience at The Yard was very festive with the lights & the fire pit near us as well!
We had a reservation for 7:30pm, but unfortunately, we weren't notified that we can only order food until 8pm and, by the time the server made it back with our drinks ( which we ordered right away upon arrival) he told us we can no longer get any food. Eventually he was able to get us some nachos and pretzels, we really appreciate it.
Our server was very nice and accommodating. Overall a great experience and will return.
The igloos are fun, the service was great & friendly, the food was pure comfort!
The food was good and different. Not too much variety but looking forward to when the burger bar opens. The band was so loud it was hard to talk. Drinks were a hit! They do put a straw in the hot chocolate which might make someone forget it’s hot and they may burn themselves. Service was great! Awesome place to try once and I plan on going back when the burger bar is open and sit outside.
We had reservations for the igloo. It happened to be a stormy day, which I understand cannot be avoided. But it would have been nice to get a phone call informing us that the igloos were without heat and lights due to the storm. Instead we drove 45 minutes to eat in an igloo that we couldn’t do.
Staff were very accommodating and genuinely felt bad, it’s just unfortunate that no one called to tell us prior
In all fairness, we did read other reviews for The Yard, so our experience shouldn’t have been a surprise. The layout and experience was pretty cool, but we paid $40 for a reservation and when we arrived, which was 10 minutes early, there was only one igloo left and it had the most uncomfortable seating of all of them. Our waitress came in initially and took food and drink orders. We ordered apps. The apps arrived about 10 min before our drinks - wine and draft beer. After that, we never saw our waitress again. We had to find her and ask for our check. She waived the minimum charge, but in reality there was no way to meet it in light of the service. All in all, it was an experience that we were looking forward to, but won’t do it again. Would not recommend it to anyone else.
food and service was good! Outdoor igloo was NOT heated and this was not previously specified when booking but was advertised as heated. Disappointed with that issue but overall food and drinks were great!
Pre thanksgiving family time in the igloo.
It was perfect for social distancing and being separate from other customers.
Had a great experience here! The igloos are not heated but we didn’t need to be bundled up inside of them. The drinks were good, they offer a late night menu after the kitchen closes which is awesome. The staff I interacted with were all wonderful, I would recommend you try this place out if you haven’t yet :)
