Great dinner. Excellent service. Food was fantastic.
Our dinner was fantastic. The food was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. We sat on the bar right next to the open kitchen but the noise was not bad and it was easy to have a normal volume conversation. The coctails were very good and creative, the whole experience was great.
We went out with friends for dinner at Torafuku and it was well worth the short walk to Main Street. The room was light and bright and there was a choice of booths or a long table. We went around 6pm and we were glad we did as after 7pm the restaurant started filling up and people started waiting after 9pm. The menu was eclectic with a choice of sharing dishes or the 7 or 10 course tasting menu curated by the Chef. We had the 10 course each. After a few courses we lost track but it definitely was worth the experience! Notable dishes were the Cherry tomato skewers, Rabbit Food (a Kale salad), Magic Stick (Chocolate ganache, hazelnut feuilletine, raspberry coulis, vanilla orange), Mango Madness (Coconut panna cotta, mango sago, passion-fruit puree),Pork belly & Pork jowl skewers but every thing we had was amazing, tasty & flavourful! When we go back again I think we will ask that the heavier dishes (Gone Fishing and The Steak Out) be served farther apart from each other since by the time we had these dishes we so full we couldn't finish these dishes. Also I would end the tasting with the Cherry tomato skewers as its was so refreshing and would cleanse the palate for the deserts. The cocktails were also excellent but a bit pricey at $14 to $16. It was more economical to order a bottle of wine. I did try the O My Sake which I thoroughly enjoyed. Come for Happy Hour and you can get $2 off the cocktail price. Service was excellent! One minor down side was the unisex washrooms, didn't like the concrete floor with the grilled drain which was sticky. At the end of our dining we all gave 5 stars for the meal and the experience.
We know of Torafuku through the food truck days, finally have a chance to visit the restaurant last evening, when a friend from out of town was visiting. We decided on the omakase set 10 course tasting as we were pretty hungry, and were not disappointed! The roasted(?) vegetables were exceptional, even our friend who normally don’t like vegetables really enjoyed it.
My husband and I were looking forward to the pork belly (served on skewers this time) - the first time I fell in love with (melt in the mouth) pork belly served at the food truck, but the thicker cut style on the skewers is great too! (different mouth feel). We also had the pork belly served in sushi roll, it was tasty, but I personally liked the skewers better :) the sushi/sashimi served is fresh.
The only dish I didn’t like as much was the beef tartare but even that was really not bad, the beef were sliced thinly making it easier to eat, the vegetables served under the meat was tasty tho! At the end of the course we were surprised by a whole fried fish, the fish was sweet, with a thick sauce (sorry I missed the details of what it was made with - it got quite busy/loud as the evening wore on) while it tasted good, I’m a chicken about fish bones and also getting full, so I didn’t eat too much of it.
The desserts at the end were spectacular - was not expecting it! We had the chocolate stick and the mango madness and a kabocha pie(?) they were all exquisite! If I have a chance to go again I would definitely do so. Ps: I enjoyed my drink too, it was a citrus based soda with jasmine tea, very fragrant.
Amazing - so happy to have experienced their OMEKASE
The value of the 10-course omakase is insane. I’m still shocked at the amount and quality of food we were served at $55 a head... Just wow. The service we received was equally outstanding, especially considering how busy the restaurant was during this visit. They also have some of the best cocktails in Vancouver. Will definitely be back.
Good value for a fancy Asian cuisine. Happy hour from 5:30-7PM for discount drinks. Service was excellent and attentive!
Our first time there & the service was great. Def a cute tapas type place with options.
Delicious takes and spin on fairly familiar (to Vancouver) Asian dishes.
My first time at Torafuku and I was very impressed. I ordered the 10 course sample menu and everything was delicious. Some dishes could use less salt (soy sauce) but generally fantastic. I'm definitely going back there. The Service was outstanding... we had three ladies constantly checking on us and making sure everything was okay. Our server was really nice and she made me and my company feel very special!
Unique and delicious dishes. So very very good. Will definitely go again.
The food was good, though nothing was amazing. (Their food truck food was better, frankly, particularly the Crack Salad and the Chicken.)
But I had a good experience overall, just not one I'd be in a huge hurry to repeat. There was no "It Dish" that I'll find myself wanting again in a few days.
Wonderful service and food. The flavors were amazing . Will be back soon.
I found this place based on the location-it was close to a show we were seeing. I liked the look of little tapas but Asian style. The place was small but the the food was quite good and the service was also good. We tried about 7 different dishes and was happy with all the choices. However the highest recommendation is the tiger balls.
An excellent place to eat and drink. Service at the bar and table was exceptional. Will definitely be going back!
It’s not the restaurant’s fault. There was an explosion happened half block away so it was a total black out in the restaurant. We were there to celebrate my birthday and it was supposed to be my treat... felt very embarrassing that night.
The waitress handled the situation very professionally. But I don’t think I will go back again.
One of the best dining experiences I've had in Vancouver. Highly recommend.
The 4th anniversary omakase set was delicious!
I always eat here and it never disappoints. The omakase tasting menu is a great new addition, and fun experience for tourists.
Great service and excellent food. A recommendation.
10-courses on our Anniversary. Delicious! Photos are of favorites, with regrets I did not catch the names of plates, nor all their ingredients.
Very delicious and unique dishes. Combination of flavours, is unusual, but so so good. My favourite so far is the Mochi skewer.
Nice clean place. Very minimalist. Comfortable seating. The service was excellent, the waitress super kind explained to us every dish. Dumplings were average, the salad was very good and the sushi was ok. Asahi beer which I love and nice cocktails,
Top notch Everything: food, service were exceptional
Visited a couple times, never disappointed me, food is always good and service too
Very good dining experience. Will definitely go back. Service was really friendly and helped with the food selection.
Overall it was great! Good food and cocktails, friendly service. I think they could have used another server, as we waited over an hour for some of our food.
It's amazing to see this place always full. You must plan ahead and make a reservation ... very difficult to find a spot last minute. The food is always amazing. Love to able to try so many things. My friends always want to return.
Fantastic food. Try the tasting menu.
The ‘rabbit food’ salad was excellent. Quinoa and kale, who knew.
A true gem! We love the food and the ambiance. The special cocktail was amazing, we will be back soon!
The wagyu beef was really good for the price. I wanted to order a lot more but all the things I wanted to was deep fried in peanut oil and I’m allergic to nuts which was unfortunate. They should just fry it in regular oil if people are allergic. That’s what kinda upset me cause I wanted to try a lot of things
First time here and loved it. The food was amazing and the whole experience was impressive. I'll definitely be coming back again.
Great place with amazing food and service. We enjoyed our experience a lot and will definitely come back in the future. The magic mushroom and the magic stick were truly magical.
Took visitors from Florida - service and food excellent
So good! Really good gluten free value as well.
Overall is good but doesn’t have much options for non alcohol drinks.
The 7 course chef's choice meal was delicious, filling, and a great experience!
Great place to relax and enjoy friends' company. The food is fresh and flavourful. Lots of vegetarian options.
