So loud we could barely hear each other - & we've been there a half dozen times, but the middle seats are too loud. Chicken was bland and overcooked, salmon tasty, but waiter could have made more if refilled drinks more timely.
We were rather disappointed in our recent meal there. Service was good at first, but then they seemed to forget about us. Food was..........ok, Pasta seemed over cooked and mushy. Chicken was dry. This was the restaurant week, so they were quite busy, maybe too busy to do a good job. We have been pleased in the past.
Amazing quality food for reasonable price and also the customer service was beyond excellent!
Absolutely love this place. Went there for a business dinner. I’ll definitely be back.
the restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, service and food
Wonderful food and lovely people. This is my second time at this restaurant and it is fast becoming a favorite. This time I was there for friends birthday. We shared a appetizer, pasta and NY steak and that was more then plenty.. All were wonderful and the steak was cooked rare perfectly (hard to find these days). The staff couldn't be more helpful and the chef was very sweet. I love Italian food and besides Italy and NYC it is becoming harder to find. So glad for this gem in Alameda. Oh it is in a strip mall but don't be put off ,the restaurant is lovely. It was funny as I had my friend convinced I was taking him to Applebees for his birthday :)
Great flavors and ambiance. They made us feel at home with a relaxing afternoon of Italian pasta and seafood.
Always a good meal at Trabocco. Giuseppe the owner always comes by and greets us when he can, and the food is always fresh and delicious. Never a bad meal at Trabocco!!
My husband and I celebrated our one year wedding anniversary yesterday at Trabocco. The ambiance is beautiful but the restaurant is quite loud. We were grateful to be seated outside so we could hear ourselves talk. The outdoor heaters were amazing! Our waiter was very funny and appropriately attentive. We got one of the Alameda restaurant week prix fixe dinners and fettacini Bolognese. The proportion of the restaurant week meal was unbelievably small. For the crab cakes, you got one quarter size crab cake! The soup tasted like it was from Campbell's. The regular meal was good but the dessert (tiramisu) was literally cut in half! The table next to ours got a regular size tiramisu (for free because it was one of the guest's birthday) so we knew what the size should be. I don't think the restaurant week menu is good value for $40. Future guests should just order what you like so you're not disappointed.
Food was very good, but for the first time after several visit, the service was extremely disorganized - wrong orders, forgotten orders, food brought at different times, plates cleared while others still eating, charged for desserts on the Restaurant Week Special that included desserts. It made for a disjoint experience. Hopefully, it was a one time occurrence that won't be repeated.
Sunday lunch at Trabocco during Alameda Restaurant Week is a great deal. Enjoyed a three-course meal with a rich tomato soup followed by a splendid oxtail ragu ravioli. Of course homemade Tiramisu was just as good. Also the fried calamari was so tender, my favorite dish here to order and share. Owner Giuseppe from the kitchen was busy as usual and our waiter Barry a true professional and veteran of the food business. This fantastic joint anchors the Alameda food scene and is a great gathering place for family, friends and business. Strongly recommend instead of spending time and big bucks dining in the city!
We had a lovely anniversary celebration at Trabocco. I would have given it 5 stars if it weren't for the noise level. We had the Prix Fix Menu for Oakland Week which I thought was a good value. The restaurant was extremely busy with a few very large parties. This caused the spacing of the courses to be a bit off. All in all, we enjoyed the evening and appreciated all the employees that came by to wish us a Happy Anniversary.
Lunch was a wonderful experience. The decor is open and modern, light and airy and comfortable even on a cold gray day.
Service was attentive and professional. The prix fix menu had satisfying selections. I learned too late that I could have had carbarnara even though it was not on the menu.
Soooo, I'll have to return for it.
Marshall, our server was absolutely point on for us. Introduced all the specials with prices even though it was restaurant week. Great food, value and always a comfortable evening with the warmest of welcomes.
We were celebrating my friend’s birthday for lunch. The food was amazing and the service was even better. We plan on coming back again for regular lunch and dinner. Such a great place!
Best dinning experience in Alameda!
We sat at the prep bar. There are about a dozen places where you can see the chefs “do their magic “. rather places are first come first served.
Watching dinners flowing out of the open kitchen provided a master class in cooking Italian food.
Took a friend to lunch for her birthday. My all time favorite Alameda restaurant.
Came in for a birthday dinner and our host greeted us and provided us the specials of the day. The accents were a bit heavy so it was hard to catch all the details( not their fault
We sat in the enclosed outdoor area with heat lamps. MUCH quieter than the main part of the restaurant. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. Highly recommended.
We celebrated our friends 21st birthday and she was thrilled.especially with Giuseppes wonderful surprise dessert. Greta is a most wonderful professional waitress. She has a delightful, personality and was very supportive to us through the whole meal. We have brought several, new friends to your great restaurant and look forward to returning soo. Graze from an Italian American senior in Oakland . We also appreciated the flexibility with our arrival time as we had a delay.
What a marvelous dining experience... superb staff, excellent cuisine and a memorable evening. Would rate Trabocco six stars if it was an option!
Good food, nice atmosphere, convenient parking. What’s not to like.
Food was excellent although entrees came out at significant time intervals (we had an early res before they got busy). Our waiter was nothing short of outstanding. I cannot remember his name but he was an Italian gentleman with silver hair. Amiable, attentive and extremely funny - great interaction with our party. Unfortunately, the hostess was on the opposite end of the spectrum. One of our party cancelled at the last minute. I informed her when we walked in that our party was one less than originally reserved. She had two place settings removed and then got nasty with us when we were being seated. Then she approached our waiter after we had ordered dessert and told him he could not serve us dessert, he had to clear the table. Our waiter was very apologetic- we got dessert to go. An otherwise delightful meal and evening tainted by a snarky hostess. I understand the need to turn tables for incoming parties, but dessert had already been ordered and a last round of drinks served. We would have been out within 10-15 min anyway. Too bad.
The food was consistent with the quality we have come to expect. Service was spectacular.
Great Service. Great food. Marshall our server was great.
No restaurant is at its finest on New Years, but this was a disappointment.
We had a great New Year’s Eve dinner before heading to the USS Hornet party.
Have already recommended this restaurant to several friends.
Trabocco is our Alameda gem, a favorite local restaurant. Buon Appetito!
Awesome food great service love Giuseppe
Nice yo have such a great spot in the neighborhood
The food was very good the waiter was a delight. We sat in the enclosed patio area and it was very quiet out there. It was a cold day but the heaters in there made it quite nice.
We try to go here each time we go to Alameda, but this time the service was so wonderful it was even better than usual. Excellent food and drinks too.
Good place for grabbing a bite. Easy to understand menu, great service, and easy parking.
Never disappoints, always a delicious meal at Trabocco!
Excellent Authentic Italian food found in a hideaway place in Alameda California. Owner and the staff could not be more excellent at their service and craft. Really, a surprise when we moved to the East Bay and one we will take with us as long as they keep serving outstanding Italian food.
Best restaurant in Alameda! The food, service and ambiance is wonderful. Easy parking in Southshore mall.
Trabocco is one of my favorite Alameda restaurants. The food is always excellent -- fresh, organic when possible, innovative and above all, supremely tasty! The wait staff are professional; you are their priority. There are three seating areas: the main dining hall which is a bit loud for me due to the tall ceiling, the patio which pleasant, and best of all, the back room which is like a private dining room, and so quiet you can have a heart-to-heart talk with your companion. Trabocco is unconditionally recommended for both casual lunches or special occasions.
I ate here this past weekend with my family and friends and had a wonderful experience. I had one of the specials, grilled salmon with polenta and fennel tomato salad and wish I ordered one to go . The waiters and staff were all polite and I can’t wait to come back.
All is good
