Trapp Family Lodge Dining Room
Great food and outstanding wine list. Beautiful setting and quiet surroundings. Great for conversation.
Marvelous food and a waiter who was so experienced and caring.
We had a lovely experience. The food was wonderful and our waiter was excellent!
Impeccable customer service and quality of food. Staff is committed to ensuring your dining experience is exceptional.
It was our anniversary dinner. We had plenty of time to enjoy and relax. We had a great bottle of wine. It was lovely.
We had a very enjoyable dinner. We'd like to return and see the views in the daylight.
Really wasn’t the wow we expected with the food. The desserts were a big disappointment.
Excelllent service. Very knowledgeable about gluten free dining. Land and sea special (steak and shrimp) delicious and beautifully presented. Scallops ceviche was fresh and flavorful. Attentive staff.
Was overall disappointed. With only a small amount of entrees on the menu one would expect they would be sensational. Do not recommend.
All waiters and staff were helpful accommodating and kind. Food was delicious and well presented which is of the utmost importance to my husband. He enjoys dining and the dining room did not disappoint. Thank you to the hostess waiters chef bus boy and everyone!
The service was almost a little too fast. We didn’t order appetizers and the main course was served about 10 minutes after ordering. The bass was nicely cook in terms of doneness but the preparation was disappointing with the greens being so well cooked that they reminded me a bit of the school cafeteria.
The apfelstrudel on the other hand was divine! Two of us shared it and it was bigger than it needed to be even so.
Always a great place
We had a lovely dinner. Our waiter, and all the staff was great! Meals were good (schnitzel & trout), dessert (Strudel) was only ok. The building and location is beautiful and worth a visit.
Always a good dinning experience.
There are better choices. Very limited menu with average ingredients.
Great meal and fantastic service. Shocked it wasn’t packed. Awesome experience
The fact that the Trapp dining room was one of the only places in town with availability on a holiday weekend should have been a clue. Even though the dining room was only half full, the service was slow and inattentive, the food way over priced, and the risotto dishes were quite poor. Really disappointing.
Roast pork loin not as good as last time
Drinks and table were great! Food was good. My partner ordered the steak but was cooked to his liking. The food was still good but everything else was great! Thanks!
The room was beautiful and inn-like. It was snowing outside which mad it cozy with the fireplace burning. The food was all right but nothing to rave about. Very good Wienerschnitzel. Our waiter was very good and serviceable. I found it a bit over-priced.
Tyrolian atmosphere and good food!
The dining room is really amazing. I have never been to Austria but it made me feel like I was there. We had all of the foods that Austria is known for. The apple strudel was a delicious dessert that can be shared. Our server told us they make this at their own bakery. We went after skiing after dark. The lights were quite festive. It would be nice to see the view during the day as well. We definitely recommend having dinner here! It is nice to have a moment back in time with an Old World experience. If you can't have a trip to Europe, you should visit the Trapp Family Lodge Dining Room.
Food and service were very good. Atmosphere bit contrived, be prepared to have lots of kids running around. Overall a bit loud for fine dining atmosphere.
Warm, inviting, and just what we needed and wanted!
Great service and food. It’s pricey, but you won’t get disappointed. My family and I had dinner there in Christmas Eve. Fish, pork, risotto... All cooked to perfection. Good selection of wines from $50. And the dessert (strudel) was delicious.
Food was really good, however at the beginning of the night (@6.30)they didn’t have desert we ordered and the waiter did not informed us about it, service wasn’t good, waiter approached us with a question “ what do u want to order?” , he did not even introduced himself. I ordered salad as an appetizer and I haven’t finished it and our dinner arrived and he pushed my salad away from me on the side (!) and put my dinner plate in front of me, I guess I took too long for him with my salad:) That was shocking.
We dined at the Trapp Family Lodge for a family holiday celebration expecting a memorable evening. What a huge disappointment! The worst of the disappointment was the service. Our waiter, Ray, was inattentive and indifferent. He spent most of the evening setting up tables for the next day and arranging glassware at a serving station. There were big gaps between his appearance, and he served the next course without first removing soiled dishes. He was not courteous and took orders starting with the men at the table rather than the women. He reached across guests to serve/remove plates. It took us about 20 minutes to get his attention at the end of the evening to get the bill, and then another 15 minutes or so for him to take our credit card. Even if the food had been excellent, the service would have ruined the evening. It was clearly unprofessional.
However, the food was far from excellent. The first courses were average to slightly above average. The ceviche was creative and perhaps the star of the evening, and the crab bisque was pretty good. Salads were ok, but were marred by a greasy fried blob of cheese. As for main courses, we had the schnitzel, the pork belly, the trout, and the cauliflower risotto. The schnitzel and pork belly were both good, but the trout was totally dried out. It seemed as if the trout had sat under a warming lamp for a long time. The schnitzel and pork belly were both good, but the cauliflower risotto (should not have been called risotto, it did not appear to have any rice in the dish) was terrible - a mix of tastes and textures that did not work at all. The desserts were all fine, but the sorbet was half melted.
All in all, the food was average and ranged from terrible to good. The service was nonexistent. We appreciate fine dining and are happy to pay for a fine dining experience. Our experience this evening was clearly far short of fine dining, but was priced at resort fine dining levels - a very poor value.
Great service in an old fashioned setting, pretty scenery out windows, and good menu selection.
We have been disappointed in The Main Dining room’s food for the past few years. We continued to try it one more time, only to be consistently disappointed. If I want reheated food, I would go through a drive through and heat it up at home. The prices are ridiculous given the poor quality of food. The server could not be kinder and more attentive. No more Main Dining Room visits for us! However, the Bier Hall’s food is excellent, great ambience and good service. It’s noisy in there, but it is a beer hall and that is to be expected.
Kind servers, disappointing food. Go for a drink and enjoy the view, then dine elsewhere.
Our dinner at the Vonn Trapp exceeded all of our expectations. The service was superb and the food was delicious. We especially enjoyed the pianist softly playing in the background. If we are ever in Stowe again we will definitely return.
Excellent food and service...a must visit to both the lodge and restaurant!
A consistently excellent and dependable spot! The table is at the farm (and elegantly set) - von Trapp eggs, lamb, beef, herbs, flowers, and on and on.
Fabulous gourmet meal. All ingredients are fresh, many sourced from their own farm. All backed goods are made on premises. The breakfast buffet was the best I have ever had. Dinner was exquisite. Everything about the Trapp Family Lodge is perfect. The dining experience is on par with the rest of the whole resort experience.
The Dining area was wonderful. We both loved our entrees as well as the appetizer we ordered. The local sourcing of most of the dishes was a nice confirmation of our choice to dine here. The pace of the meal was just right, not too rushed but not too slow either. Would definitely dine here again.
The food was excellent. The service impeccable. The only issue was the family that was seated next to us with rude noisy children.
Excellent staff, service and food. Perfect spot for a 40th anniversary celebration.
My husband and I went on Saturday October 26, 2019 for a nice dinner celebrating our 30th anniversary. The waiter was annoyed when we asked for bread and when he brought it it was stale. We both ordered wiener schnitzel which we were looking forward to. It was terrible, just like a breaded veal patty that was purchased in the frozen food section of the super market. It was also barely warm as were the accompaniments. Both of us ate less than half even though we were hungry. It was that bad. Our waiter never asked if everything was all right even when he saw that neither of us ate very much and didn't want to take the leftovers. It was way too expensive for what we got. I've had much better food and service at a chain restaurant. I would never go back.
Our waiter was flat out rude. Once he realized we wouldn’t be ordering alcoholic beverages he lost interest in us. Service was slow, $4.00 tiny cups of coffee, never even offered a refill. The food was awful. The menu had very little variety. It did not appeal to me at all. The rude waiter actually corrected my husband while he was ordering his entree. When I booked the reservation I specified it was our anniversary. Why ask if it’s a special occasion if you don’t acknowledge it at all? Overall a terrible disappointment that ruined our anniversary dinner. We will NEVER go back.
