excellent all-around, no more comments needed. ................................................................................
This was my first experience in a Ukrainian restaurant and my friend and I had a wonderful time. The food was delicious, the server was informative and cared that we were enjoying the food. Another server was helpful telling about her favorite dishes while we were waiting for our table. All in all, a fabulous experience and I know my friend and I will return with more friends. We did watch Check Please which was why we decided to try the restaurant.
Service and ambience was great, although the large screen TV is quite intrusive. Food was very good, but borsch when delivered was not hot, but merely lukewarm.
I very much love the Tryzub. It makes me feel like I am eating in Kyiv with beautiful waitresses and wonderful Ukrainian music and designs.
Soup wasn’t enough warm but rest was good
atmosphere delightful
server great
food yummy
will return again and again
This charming spot is able to be both authentic to its traditional culture while providing fresh interpretations to the food. For example, stuffed cabbage has bison and black rice and is lean and tasty, not heavy at all. Summer borscht was served in an upside down goblet and was bright and tangy.
Service was excellent.
The space is charmingly filled with photos, family mementos, books and the earthy yet bold colors of the Ukraine while bright large windows add cheer and sunshine. I was there for lunch but will go back to sample the house infused vodkas in the future.
We had amazing experience trying Ukrainian food - it was very tasty, the staff is super friendly, decoration of the place is outstanding. Strongly recommend this place for lunch or dinner.
What a treat -- Eastern European Cuisine brought to a whole new level -- great taste with flare -- we'll be back!
This review is only based on service. We were seated immediately. Once at our table, no one acknowledged us for 30 minutes. We were ready to place our food and drink order but it was impossible to flag down a server because they never came near our table or made eye contact with us. We eventually had to get up and leave which is uncharacteristic of us. It was very disappointing because we were very excited to try the cuisine but we felt invisible. Will not be going back, which is a bummer.
Love it! Great food, cool environment. We ordered two courses and desert, and enjoyed our time very much.
Wonderful place-delicious food and friendly service. Highly recommend!
Not what I expected...the menu goes way beyond pirogies, borscht and goulash. Great cocktails, great service, feels real, not like a concept restaurant. And the pirogies, borscht and goulash are just amazing,
The food was delicious. We had the potato pancakes, the pierogi platter, the schnitzel and the goulash.
Excellent traditional Ukrainian dishes! We celebrated orthodox Easter dinner here. Wait staff was very friendly and attentive.
Everything was fantastic!!!
Food and ambiance was outstanding. Would highly recommend. Brunch items where very good. Salmon crepes are a must try.
Would definitely recommend Tryzub. Excellent food. So glad they brought back the shashlyk. Like always delicious. One of our favorites. Service was very good an extremely pleasant, friendly waitress.
Tryzub is always an amazing experience and I would recommend this friendly and welcoming restaurant for anyone. I go once a year and I always enjoy the food, ambiance and friendly service. If you have not yet tried the Tryzub Kitchen, I recommend that you do. You will not be disappointed.
Amazing food, beer and service. Next time in Chicago, will definitely come back!
great food, great service, great ambiance, definitely worth a repeat
We recently decided to move to Ukrainian Village and prior to our move, try out some authentic Ukrainian cuisine. Tryzub was a perfect first choice. We popped in for brunch with my father-in-law and his wife. The brunch menu is a small add on menu, but the lunch/dinner menu is more than satisfactory to anyone needs. They have a wide variety of goulash, perogi’s and pot pies just to name a view. I ordered their goulash pot pie and the meat was tender and plentiful with a very delicious hearty flavor. The prices are fair in comparison with the portion size. It’s got a great updated Ukrainian ambience. Service was a bit slower than what you normally get but that was not an issue since all my needs were taken care of. Highly recommended - it’s a great cultural feeding and feeling.
We were very pleasantly surprised! Went for an impromptu Valentine's Day dinner and loved the slightly cheezy, giant crackling projection-screen fireplace, Ukrainian music videos, live piano player and especially (no kidding) the friendly staff and warm family atmosphere. The food was delicious classic Cossak comfort cuisine and definitely worth a repeat visit!
A most enjoyable dinner. The pierogi are outstanding and the torte was wonderful. Ihor is a very pleasant and engaging proprietor. Great comfort food.
Love this place and authentic Ukrainian Cuisine, especially the horseradish infused Vodka
Very nice restaurant serving Ukrainian food with a twist. The perogis and potatoe pancakes were very good. The mushroom sauce on the pancakes was outstanding.
Food, beer, vodka all very very good. Super friendly service too!
We've always had a great dining experience at Tryzub. Great authentic Ukrainian food and infused vodkas!
Great place to try something different, the food was amazing, the vodka flight is unique. I will be coming back.
Great experience. Totally unexpected. Hidden neighborhood gem. Tried to arrange a dinner for the following Monday but it’s closed on Monday. Sad. We will be back and bring lots of others. Be sure to make a reservation.
Tryzub is a very nice authentic and cozy Ukrainian restaurant right in the heart of Chicago’s Ukrainian village. We were captivated by the decor and lights they had set up throughout the interior. Very classy and yet again cozy to say the least. Went here for my birthday dinner in hopes to find food just as good as my Ukrainian grandmothers. The winter borszcz is perfect for the winter season and the Chicken paprikash was an explosion of flavor. The only thing I was disappointed by was the pierogi. There was not much flavor to the filling or carmelized onions... but despite that we had a great meal. Finished off with a deliciously hot served apple strudel with some vanilla ice cream. Will be returning ASAP.
What a great addition to West Town! The authentic Ukrainian food is delicious, and the presentation is beautiful. We loved every course, including cocktails and dessert. Highly recommend making the trip to this Easterm European/Bohemian gem
Service left a little bit to be desired - they forgot to bring my tea, little recommendation from server or interaction. For the menu, more vegetarian or vegan options would be great. That being said, my family really enjoyed themselves. Especially the dish in an entire pumpkin!
Amazing food and unique vibe. Great way to branch out from commercial Chicago restaurants and get an authentic meal!
Great food, good portions. Their service was abysmal, though. Very nice people, but you were constantly looking around trying to hail ANY server to get refills or even just to order your meal. I might try getting takeout next time since the food WAS really tasty. The tables aren’t spaced adequately either — people were constantly bumping or shimmying around our table to get by. Super annoying.
This was our first visit to this restaurant and we enjoyed trying a variety of dishes, some that were familiar and others that were new to us. The portions were very generous and our server was very helpful. We will definitely go back.
We took my son and his wife, who is from Ukraine, here for his birthday. The food was tasty, the portions good-sized, the prices reasonable, and the service friendly. My daughter-in-law had dined here previously and pronounced the cuisine authentic. I am sure we will visit again.
Outstanding
My family was looking for Ukrainian food and we found it. Excellent food and service! Would highly recommend. I can't wait to go back! Don't forget to try the "Glory to Ukraine" shot!
Great food. Great service. Would be great if you’d go.
