Seared Sea Scallops
crispy pork belly, corn pure, mushrooms, blueberry gastrique
Roasted Beet Salad
watercress, fresh ricotta, pepitas, lemon vinaigrette
They could only seat us on the patio because of the new regulations, but it was incredible out there. Food was great, ambience was great and the wine list was even better
My favorite stop for a leisurely glass of wine and some charcuterie! Nice menu without any fluff and frills that will leave you satisfied. Oysters were freshly shucked, daily delivered Marin miyagis! Award winning wine list from $8 a glass to hundreds of dollars per bottle! Something for everyone! Check out the patio, it’s a brand new addition to the restaurant.
Excellent food and service, generous portions; very nice outdoor space; curry prawns and T-bone pork chop both excellent
Given the limitations of the COVID-19 restrictions, we had a pleasant time. The menu was limited, but the food was very good.
Great food, great new patio and music. We are very excited about Veraison being open again and their new ventures
They needed one more server to wait on folks. The initial greeting took a littler longer as they only had the one.
Had the chef’s choice 7 course & it was outstanding. Plenty of food awesome presentation & service. There were 3 of us & we all received different dishes.
Excellent food and our server was top notch even with crutches!
The kitchen was obviously having an off day. Both tables next to us had issues with their dishes. Our squid main was not seasoned and the squid over cooked. The server was doing her best.
This was the worst restaurant experience of my life. It took them 20 minutes after being seated to take our order. It took another 30 minutes to bring us any food. During this time we spoke to the waiter multiple times to ask what was going on. He apologized each time, but nothing improved. After sitting there for 50 minutes, we were brought what was supposed to be crab bisque. The "bisque" was a beige watery mess that smelled odd, tasted bad, and contained no crab. We spoke to the waiter and the manager, paid for the bottle of wine they had opened for us, and left. Do not go to this restaurant.
A very busy night had Waiters a little stretched
Food was delicious, the waitress was kind and attentive.
Lamb was very under cooked, desserts were just OK. Their wine was meh. Brussel sprouts were awesome.
It was my mother's birthday and she received her food at least 5 minutes after ours. All our disshes were overcooked. I would not go back. The waiter, however, was very apologetic and lovely.
Very quaint restaurant in Calistoga. Good selection of food, however, limited beer options. Their wine pairing menu looked very interesting.
Food was amazing - service could have been better. Very few people and still had to get up to ask for more water and salt/pepper.
Again, a top-notch experience! Used the Open Table app to reserve a table for 5 on very short notice, even though the restaurant was very busy. Post-Christmas get together with friends and family. The six Virginica oysters shared by two of our party were proclaimed delicious. A beet salad and seared artichoke was had by the rest of the party. Very tasty. Entrees of grilled shrimp, chicken and ribs were exceptional. Topping off the evening we shared the cheesecake, the chocolate empanada, and, my personal favorite, the “Candy Capped” Beignets. The beignets alone were well worth the hour and one half trip (one way)! So creamy, warm, sweet and irresistible! Trust me on this, life is too short to not enjoy a well presented dinner at Veraison, and beignets! Did I mention the Beignets? As always, Danny (the owner), and his staff went out of their way to make our meal perfect.
Bland food, undercooked risotto, watery and sour tartare. Slow as poor service, server did not care about about the terrible food. Automatic 20% gratuity added.
A lot of lack of flavor on the dishes; we notice fresh good ingredients but either the chef it was on a Christmas break or it was not a good day because no flavor pop up the dishes 😌
The pricing here is just out of whack. I ordered the Seared Artichoke, it was $13 and a very small half of an artichoke, not even a large globe artichoke. Several of the dishes were bland, served tepid or a bit off. It's a lovely spot, but the food needs more attention.
This is my favorite restaurant in town but the scallops were just too salty. On a positive note the Virginica oysters were excellent. I’m not giving up on this place. It’s still underrated.
Delicious food and outstanding service! Highly recommended.
Excellent food, good service.
We got a nice table by the window.
All dishes were excellent. The only exception was cheesecake, which was firm and looked more like a piece of soap than a dessert, but that was not enough to spoil what otherwise was a great dinner.
Let it be said that this restaurant provides only French cuisine and should not under any circumstances prepare meal from a different culture. That so I mean by that my Thanksgiving diner started with a choice of salad or butternut squash soup .
My salad was excellent, but unfortunately for the other parties in my group had the very bland , tasteless soup.
Now for the turkey and sides 😫😭OMG!! It seems the cook 👩🍳 was preparing this meal for senior age group. The meal was such a disappointment that we both packed up for my dogs.
The turkey tasted right out of the packaging. Seriously, the French are supreme in cooking but this cook was the worst I’ve ever encountered from such a restaurant.
The salmon was also tasteless.
Finally my pecan pie came to me after an error from the server. It looked as if it was the last bit in the box.
A small and mediocre sample , although it was very sweet.
The champagne was amazing, but half the glass. Oh well 😔
The final blow, It took a while for the check to arrive , finally we were billed more until we found out it was someone else’s check.
My hubby decided that we are never to enjoy the restaurant again.
It was horrible 😤😭
Food was mediocre; def not the Brest thanksgiving meal
Food was heavy and tasteless. More in line with an airport Applebee’s than a costly fine-dining experience. I won’t be back.
Great food and drinks! Service was awesome!
Great! Very nice, very attentive staff, and outstanding food!
Great food for a fun evening in Calistoga. The grilled shrimp with polenta was delicious and highly recommended. My companions had the equally delightful hoisen pork ribs, salmon and a lovely dish of mussels and clams. The waitstaff was exceptional as well. Over-all, a wonderful dinner for a small group of friends to share good food in a great atmosphere.
We had a great meal and super service. It’s a shame the place had so few diners. Loads of people cancelled but there was no risk of the fires hitting the town now.
Verasion is our go-to restaurant in Calistoga. The service and food are always top notch. Hi
We had made reservations for our anniversary. We had the oysters, the crude and the mussels - everything was excellent. The sauce on the mussels was a little different than most I have had and it was spectacular. We will definitely be eating at Veraison next time we are in Calistoga.
Food was disappointing
Salmon and scallops undercooked- has to have salmon sent back to kitchen as it was fairly raw
Overall, we enjoyed our meal, but be warned. The food on offer is VERY uneven in portion size and preparation. Clarify with your server what size portion you will be getting dish by dish! Some things were badly over cooked. We started out with a three item charcuterie plate which was presented very nicely with excellent cheeses and accoutrements. We chose the house made pate for our third item, which was okay, but in my opinion, was too lean and crumbly to pass for a really good representation of pate. Next, we shared a grilled artichoke that was unpleasantly burnt...not nicely charred...burnt. There was no sweetness or fleshyness left at all. Yuck. Our main courses were salmon and the scallops. Both dishes were main entre items. The salmon was presented with two smashed potatoes and grilled asparagus, and was portioned as a main course should be. The salmon was cooked to perfection, but the asparagus was mush on one side and black on the other. Their grill chef needs practice!! My husband's scallop dish was a total disappointment. The scallops themselves were delicious and perfectly cooked BUT the presentation was abismal. They were served on a small oblong plate about 7" x 2-1/2". They sat on a smear...not a bed...a smear...of polenta. There was a tiny dollop of deliciously sauted mushrooms, but probably no more than a tablespoon, maybe two. There was supposed to have been a berry drizzle (French term here), but that had been forgotten. Honestly, this looked like an appetizer, not anything even close to a main dish. BTW, our server specifically said that the items from the section listing the scallops were all main courses. If we had not had the charcuterie beforehand, our "fine dining" experience would have been ruined, as this expensive dish absolutely did not constitute a "meal". Dessert was okay. My husband had a cheesecake dish which was small but excellent. I had house made blackberry sorbet. It seemed bitter and lacking in flavor. Very so-so.
The owner was our server and he was amazing!!! The food was impeccable and the overall experience was delightful!!! I highly recommend this place❤️❤️❤️
Our first visit. Warm and slightly wilted lettuces in what was supposed to be a cold salad for 1st course that took 45 minutes to arrive. Ordered house made fettuccine with lamb sugo and mushy angel hair with bland red sauce that included a few bits of lamb arrived instead, with no explanation. Quite disappointed in what we had hoped would be a new go-to option.
Excellent food that was well prepared. The service was a little slow at the beginning and then was attentive. My husband got the three courses with dessert and I got two courses and it was enough for us. Food is excellent.
I was so disappointed by this restaurant. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and first overnight out since our 9 month old daughter was born. I requested a nice table in advance. We arrived at were sat in a weird platform section that was super bright and noisy and not the least bit romantic...
I was excited that they offered a build your own coursed food and wine pairing and chose to do 3 courses. My husband, a vegetarian, chose 3 meatless options off the menu to go along with my courses. Out of 6 dishes, only 2 were good. His cheese plate, and my salmon. His main dish was touted as a farro stuffed Chile relleno but we could find almost no farro in it and it was severely under seasoned. After my salmon came the lamb ragu. Again under seasoned with overdone pasta but the real issue I had was lamb. The pieces were either tough and stringy or just fat covered gristle. And then there was the piece of bone I found that I could’ve easily broken a tooth on had I just bit into it. Because who expects a friggin bone in a pasta ragu?!?
Shamefully that wasn’t the worst of the dishes. I also ordered the duck breast and leg confit. The breast was so over cooked it looked like jerky. As soon as it arrived to my table I asked the server how the duck is supposed to be prepared because it’s usually standard for duck breast not to be cooked past medium. She told me it comes how the chef cooks it. Well duh. She wound up taking it back to be re-cooked. It came out looking like it was cooked right but it wasn’t. The chef obviously had no idea how to cook duck. The fat wasn’t rendered properly and the skin was chewy not crispy. The leg upon further inspection was even drier and jerky like than the 1st breast that was sent out. I couldn’t eat it.
We asked for the check and our server, clearly recognizing we weren’t happy, offered us dessert on the house. And that (flourless chocolate cake) was actually good. Not enough to make up for the otherwise bad experience.
Our meal was overpriced and underwhelming. We received one meal that was under “large plates” and consisted of only 3 scallops for greater than $30. Only one server for the entire restaurant.
Good was good timeliness and attitude of server was poor. Good was good but they need to make some changes before we would return.
