Village Pub and Grill - Village Hotel Swindon
The food was very nice and tasty but £18 was expensive for a stir fry with only 4 very small slices of beef
I will come back however because overall we enjoyed the evening
Waitress was very nice and personable
Really pleasant evening. Food was delicious and super value. Staff were polite and attentive. Live football available, seats available and staff were constantly checking tables and making sure tables were cleared promptly.
not good. food was mediocre. I had a soup. half was boiling hot half was freezing cold. typical microwave job. workers very unprofessional and lazy
We like to eat here when we stay at the hotel. The food is very good and the staff unfailingly up to the mark. My only gripe is that I end up ordering the same dinner from the meal deal . The menu could do with refreshment.
Carvery meat was over cooked, potatoes were hard. Mash potato had a weird taste,Yorkshire puddings were very chewy.
Desserts were tasteless and small. ( used to have the best apple pie and custard.profittore rolls was lovely.
We had a great experience as first time in visiting since changing to a carvery, the family enjoyed the variety of courses available for our recent Sunday lunch.
I would request a few more vegetable options with the main course as little choice on that side otherwise would have given 5 stars ✨ instead of 4.
Staff very friendly and attentive.
Would definatley recommend to book and give a go.
Enjoyable Sunday lunch with grandchildren.staff very helpful
We decided to visit this restaurant with our friends because it is local to us, we have been there before and had good food and we love Italian food.
We arrived on what we thought would be a busy evening due to a local international air show. When we got into the restaurant it was very quiet but didn't think much of it. Then we looked at the menu and was shocked as to the changes that had been made as there was only a couple of things on there that would be classified as Italian it was mainly Asian/Eastern food. We were somewhat confused and quizzed the waitress as to where the Italian choices had gone and she advised that the menu had been changed. The choices for the 4 of us were vegi skewers, beef skewers, burger and meatballs. The food was cooked well and tasted good but the restaurant seems to currently have an identity crisis with an Italian name and stating italian restaurant on the front of the menu but very little Italian food choices.
Also it was very quiet for a Saturday night, no atmosphere and the waitresses seemed to rush us a little in order that they could close up.
I would not recommend this restaurant at the moment until the menu changes.
A lovely evening spent in a relaxing restaurant catching up with family that had travelled to meet up. Lovely food and exceptional service. Would definitely come again and recommend friends.
Food was delicious. Service was good. Would definitely recommend.
Lovely place but very dated and not much choice on the menu.
Dark and dingey room.
Service very slow.
Food average and small portions.
Served flat lager.
Vegetarian selection poor.
Wouldn’t recommend if I’m honest.
Food was excellent. It was very quiet being 7.30 but we wanted to eat early.
Staff very friendly, was unable to settle the bill at the time but put it on the room.
Not sure the blue plasters are very fetching i,m sure a small hole would be barely visible & not a distraction at all compared to the blue tribal marks but EHS rules is EHS rules & will be the end of the world.
Restaurant was very quiet at 8pm, unlike the bar next door. Service was prompt and professional, nice table position, staff very friendly and accommodating, timings between courses was perfect for us, food was very tasty, well prepared and presented. The price was also very reasonable. We would definitely recommend
Meal was late out, when did arrive was overcooked. Very Disappointing
Difficult to comment as although only 20.45 we were the only ones in there, so no atmosphere, but what made things worse was the staff setting the all the tables around us for breakfast even before our food came.
Good value for money in the new year deal but not much choice in set menu.
Lovely meal - delicious food, reasonable service, noisy due to a 12th birthday party. Disappointed that the staff didn't offer us the special Valentine menu (which other couples were enjoying).
fantastic meal, great service, nice and quiet and great value for the giant portion sizes
Nothing special about the food or service. Everywhere gets 2 chances and this visit was the second.
Out of our 4 meals ,2 were not of a good standard.Waitress wasn't very attentive, when we asked for another bottle of wine ,it was very unceremoniously dumped in the ice bucket , without any question about wether the wine or meal was okay. and after our dessert we waited 25 mins. to see if it was possible to have coffee. In the absence of a waitress we had to get up from the table and go to find a somebody, so that we could order coffee for 2 of us.She didn't come and check what we wanted, instead just came back with 2 mugs and a pot of black coffee. Fortunately we had some cream left over from our dessert( which hadn't been cleared away yet).Having not quite finished our coffee we were asked to leave, as the Restaurant was closing. If they had served us in a better fashion ,then we would probably have been finished sooner. It felt like the staff were more interested in laying the tables for the breakfast service.
After visiting the restaurant at Christmas (when you were actually very busy, unlike this time when you hadn't many covers), I recommended you to my friends, but unfortunately we had a really disappointing experience;and when we ended up with a bill of £150, we all felt that the whole experience didn't justify the cost. Based on this experience , I would have to think long and hard about wether I would come again!
Regards Sue B.
Booked a table on line for 4 people, only to be contacted to advise that restaurant was shut, advised by the person telephoning that head office should have indicated this on line!
Food and service fantastic.David the manager was very friendly and helpfull.staff had smiles on their faces.
A nice restaurant with pleasant staff. Menu is a little limited but food was absolutely fine. Very quiet so great if you want to catch up with a friend.
Good food but not great. The price didn't reflect the quality.
Tables were far to close together,
Surroundings were nice
Service was great, Considering how busy we felt we were looked after very well and she was always smiling.
Last negative is the fact there is no option to give a tip on the card machine. I tend not to carry cash so luckily my date did.
Great food, lots of it and friendly service! We stayed for one night so had the chance to enjoy breakfast as well. We will definitely be visiting again soon!
Had the set meal for two, a starter and a main or a main and starter with a glass of prosecco. Overall meal was average, I wouldn't want to pay full price. My mum asked for potatoes instead of salad as she can't eat salad and she literally got a plate full of potatoes and chicken breast, no sauce or side, was a little dry! My salmon was nice and the starter of pork wraps was nice. If you're starving it's not for you.
Food was nice and the service was good. No complaints 👍🏼
After a long hot four hour journey we were really pleased that we booked our meal here.
Restaurant was air conditioned and had a relaxing ambience.
Staff were very helpful and polite.
Food was delicious and well presented.
A very enjoyable experience.
Booked due to on-line offer - £29 for two with Prosecco. On arrival they couldn't find the booking but did honour it. We were almost alone in the restaurant - only one other couple in there so there was no atmosphere at all. A member of staff suggested we share a starter and a pudding thus giving us 3 course instead of the 2 - this worked well as the portions were a good size. Waitress very nice and friendly.
Staff were so friendly and helpful nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent and came out all together and hot even tho there were 12 people! Very child friendly, great authentic Italian restaurant. Great for family celebrations.
This meal was in a satisfaction Saturday deal. We were celebrating our wedding anniversary. Nice cosy table for two. I thought it was an Italian restaurant, it's not! Just 4 starters to choose from and 3 of those were spicy, I tried the red pepper and tomato soup, too spicy!! Couldn't eat it. Asked to change for mushrooms which didn't come until I'd finished my main!! Very tasty, Italian dish, carbonara. My husband's salmon and wedges didn't even come with salad! I asked for ice cream for sweet to be told they don't do it on its own!!! No gelato at a supposed Italian!! But I asked if they did it for children, which they did and charged me for it too, as our deal was 2 courses! You'd think they would give it to me for the soup problem. Very strange apology from one of waitress's, she seemed a little confused. Overall, dissatisfied. Won't eat here again.
Food was good but service was very slow and 3rd course never came out. Not much choice for the set menu.
Dave, Charlotte and the whole team made our experice at the restaurant something to remember and they are a true credit to the restaurant and the hotel. We were staying at the hotel for 2 nights for our anniversary and would normally only eat at a hotel once, but the team made it such a memorabe experience we went back again!. The food was lovely, tomato soup, the salmon and the burger all get the thumbs up from us!....keep up the hard work Dave and we will be seeing you again soon!.
I ate here on Friday, the food is excellent, but the décor leaves a lot to be desired. It isn't my cup of tea, the walls cluttered with pictures, the pattern on the carpet is very loud 1970,s. Having said that the food is superb, at the end of the day, you are eating the food not the décor!!!
I visited recently with my daughter as we were staying in the hotel as a birthday treat for her. The food was delicious in the restaurant with plenty of choice & our waitress was really lovely, spending time chatting to us to get to know us, she remembered us when we had breakfast the following morning & again went out of her way to chat to us. Excellent service thank you
Serivce was good but a bit slow. However they were very good at moving us when we were distrubed by offensive language and behavior of people at neighbouring table. Food was tasty - not vast quantities but very filling.
Food dreadful, service ok, had to ask for plates for a sharing starter that came in a basket... Friday night the weekend before valentines and it was almost empty! Says a thousand words!
We had a lovely meal in this restaurant- it wasn't very busy so it was quieter and we could chat happily- The waitress was wonderful and very dedicated and committed to her work. The food was delicious and well presented- It was great having the discount voucher although an issue with the website meant the manager had to help us which she duly did. Will definitely be back
The staff are extremely friendly and the service was very good, our only criticism would be that the prices are expensive for what you get.
