clams, haddock, scallops, shrimp
We have lived on the North Shore all our lives and have never been to The Village. We found it in North Shore Magazine with Fried Clams listed as the best. Well, that review we will confirm. They were the best. Not greasy, fried perfectly with the perfect amount of breading. The other entrees we ordered were just as delicious. Our server was fun, respectful and personable making our experience even nicer. Our only issue was that we were placed in the back, which was very nice ambiance, but the noise level was off the charts. My suggestion would be due to the back being a smaller space, if there is a large party, put them in a larger room. We as well as our server couldn't hear each other speak. Overall it was a wonderful experience, and we will absolutely make it our home for fried clams and steamers.
Excellent food and service! Delicious!
Eileen was a real SERVICE PRO. Generous gin & tonic. Very timely and EXCELLENT food service.
Consistently excellent food and service, at reasonable prices.
The food was ok. Scallops were dry and rice was not hot. We had an unfriendly waitress who was very slow.
Enjoyed our dinner and had great service.
As always, wonderful food and service. The Village never disappoints.
Have been going to The Village for many years---always a good place for food and service
Great food and loved the experience!! Service was excellent and value was great
The Village restaurant has the best seafood and best clams in the world!!
After not having been at the Village in over a year (Covid), I was looking forward to
a nice dining experience with my husband. Unfortunately, we were seated in front of a table with multiple young children, one of whom was very loud. I love kids and do understand their energy but he was a little bit much. Did not want to embarrass them so I did not say anything. They were not aware of my discomfort till well into our dining experience. At that point, they tried to quiet the child. They were about done and left soon after that. I guess I was just feeling cranky!!
Best Stuffed Lobster I can recall. My companion says the same about her Haddock Rockefeller. Prices were reasonable.
As always, this place is the best! Freshest fish and everything piping hot and well-prepared. The servers are efficient and pleasant.
The Village Restaurant has always been a good restaurant to meet with friends. The food and service is always good.
But on 8/7 it was not up to par. There were 6 of us, 3 had rice with their meal (said the rice was watery); one had clams with onion rings and the meal was lukewarm and the taste fair; two of us had martinis and they were accidentally made with bourbon instead of vodka and we brought them back to the bar to have them doctored to taste better, as our waitress was really straight out; and our order wasn't taken for quite a while after we were seated.
I assume most of this was due to lack of help, or management issues which is sad.
Best lobster pie ever (at $50 you would expect so, but wow). Fried clams were great. wife like her scallop and haddock pie. Kids meals were good portions. Great casual dining.
The steamers were tough. Could not eat them. Very disappointed. I tipped her $10.00 on my card and they put $17.00. I also gave her $10.00 in cash. Not a great experience.
Really enjoyed the patio. Staff was very friendly. Food was excellent.
Food is good
Waitress was sweet but shorts were too revealing
We went to Village Restaurant with friends and had a great time. The restaurant wasn't crowded - we went on a Wednesday night. Service was very good - the waitress was attentive to our every need. We ordered 2 appetizers - fried calamari and tropical shrimp. Both were excellent - the calamari was tender and done to perfection, the shrimp was tender, too, and came with a sweet dipping sauce that complemented the shrimp. Our food was served piping hot and quickly- crab stuffed sole and haddock Rockefeller were 2 of the main meals. The price is average for this area, the food is excellent. The ambiance is OK, nothing special, but there's a lot of history here! If your food isn't great, your restaurant doesn't last, and Village has been around for years.
Wonderful fresh seafood.
Always fresh fish and a relaxing meal.
The best clam chowder and fried clams! So delicious.
Food was excellent and the waitress was friendly and polite
Took some family, who were visiting from California, here for dinner. Food was excellent and service was top notch.
If you like haddock, you won’t find a fresher meal cooked to perfection.
We had a 6:15 reservation and probably sat down at 6:20, which was fine. They sat us back in the sunroom and it was so loud that I thought I was going to lose my mind. The windows and surfaces felt like we were surrounded by grime. It felt dark and dingy. We looked at the menu and it was fine, but if you want healthy options probably not the best. The server brought us our drinks rather quickly, but the she went by us 3 times and kept saying she would be back. But after sitting there for 20 minutes we decided to leave. After her passing us by the 3rd time. When we left the waitress told the manager that we weren’t sitting there that long (not sure a what happened with the customer is always right). But if you feel the need to tell us you’ll be back and then the 3rd pass you don’t even make eye contact you are completely aware it’s been awhile. The manager tried to comp us clam chowder to take it with us and was very apologetic, which was nice, but we were done and just wanted to get out of there.
Strange evaluations on this app and trip advisor. We award a generous 2 overall. Fish ok, unless baked in which it is covered with buttered Ritz crackers. Sides are extremely simple with no taste. At least there was salt on the table.
Very good baked haddock. Fried clams only ok. Other places have more flavorful batter. Onion rings were rubbery, with onion slices way too big and undercooked, and batter didn't stick. If they were to improve their fried food batter, we would go there more often.
We love The Village. My family has been going there for years. Great people, great food and with a moderate noise level you know they're busy and that's a good thing. 😊 we made reservations and that worked out well because the restaurant filled up quickly.
Excellent, as it has been for many years. - both service and food. We each had the broiled scallops, which were small and very flavorful, i.e., not the larger scallops that sometimes don't seem to have much flavor. The key lime pie, which the menu said is their own recipe, was also very good.
The food is always delicious there !
Our waitress had too many tables outside and was also taking care of bar customers. She was still very pleasant, clearly overworked. She also gave us ten percent discount for Cape Ann residents.
Cudos to her. Comp’d onion rings! Coupons for ice cream store too.
Food was excellent. We all loved our seafood dishes.
My husband and I chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. I wish I remembered out waitresses name...she was very good. The clam chowder and the shrimp scampi were excellent, although I would have liked to have some garlic in the scampi. I always get cole slaw as my side since it is so good at The Village.
Server was awesome. Steak tips horrible. Fried clams excellent
Shrimp scampi average. Ceaser salad awful
Food quality does not compare to previous years . Ribs were not good , shrimp included in a salad were likely prepared and cooked previously . The food offerings were poor and when compared to that offered by previous owner fell way short . Will not return again .
If you are looking for good, fresh seafood this is the place to be. If you are looking for good service, this is not your place.
We were sat and once our drinks came over we ordered soups. I did tell our server we will wait until they come up to order. His response was ,”good luck finding me and ordering, it’s going to get real busy.” He walked away before we could even respond. Needless to say we ate and left immediately.
We had to wait way too long for our waitress. It was Father’s day but it did not appear to be overly busy for them. We were sitting outside and our waitress would disappear inside for long periods of time. We wanted to get a second round of drinks but waited so long that we opted to get the check and head to the brewery down the street for a drink.
The food was good but the portions were much smaller and price was ridiculous for clam plate.
Melissa was great. Had a wonderful time
