Delightful amuse bouche or surprises...presented by servers with each of 4 courses. Farmers cheese with radishes, green tea broth of squash!
Servers could have explained dishes upon presentation...but responded when asked with knowledge.....had a little blip about wine pairings
4 courses were dynamite
Great meal, loved the vibe. Food was really delicious, and they do a lot to enhance the meal with several ‘add-ons’ to the pre-fixe. My only gripe was the wine/drinks. Our server was lovely but I’m not sure she had a great understanding of the wine list and we ended up with a wine we really weren’t happy with. We should have sent it back, but didn’t, so that’s on us. But I think perhaps the wine list was just too eccentric for our taste...I know others have praised the wine program so maybe it was just us. Overall though a great experience!
lackluster in everyday. Food wasn't good and way too much money for an experience that didn't live up to their sister restaurant
Wonderful experience at Wherewithal. Service (Kaylee), food (corn fritters, mint dessert) and drinks (wine list, cocktails) were all on point. Cant wait to go back. Muah!
The menu that they provide was innovative, delicious, and satisfying. Don't bother with the a la carte and leave it in their hands.
Fantastic conception and execution all around. Service was great. Prices accessible. A bit of a limited beverage selection but most of the non-cocktails are probably things you've never seen before. Loved all the surprise features added to the set menu. Would love to get my hands on some of those again! Sad that they may never been seen or eaten again ;-(. The bar menu looks fun if you live in the area but if you don't, the restaurant is clearly a destination spot and worth planning a few weeks in advance to pop in.
Above and beyond my expectations. Non pretentious atmosphere, warm service, well balanced courses, interesting but approachable flavors, and a tasting menu that left me FULL for being known as a big eater.
Service was incredible. We were slow and took our time, never felt rushed or unwelcome. Would highly recommend experiencing Wherewithall.
Creative, interesting, fresh, delicious cuisine. Wonderful service, gorgeous little spot with many delicious plates.
Wonderful restaurant off the beaten path with easy, free street parking. Noice level allowed for easy talking with the note that the small tables next to us weren’t filled. Service was excellent. Food creative & delicious. Reasonably priced for the quality & quantity served. Can’t wait to go back!!
Awesome evening. Can't wait to return and try a different menu on their ever changing Prix-fixe.
We found to Wherewithall to be mildly over-priced, and we wished that there was a bit more space in between the tables for 2 (so that server didn't have to hang over our table while speaking with an adjacent table). But, aside from those two minor quibbles, we liked everything else about the place. The service from everyone we encountered was very good and all four courses of our dinner were outstanding. Wherewithal also did a remarkably great job of accommodating my husband's dietary restrictions. He even received his own printed menu that reflected the minor differences in what he was served, as opposed to what I was served.
One of the best meals we have had in Chicago, and we’ve been around the block. Love the preset meal, because they do change it so often, and every item was unique and different from the typical dishes you find at restaurants. I usually don’t like preset menus as much, but I thoroughly enjoy them when I trust the chef. It takes the pressure off to make sure you choose the right thing out of fear of missing out on something else good. They also bring out so many different items. Highly recommend!
From the drinks, to the food our night was spectacular . Do not be nervous about one prefix menu because each course was better then the next. Can’t wait to return !!
Wonderful 4 course fine dining experience.
Over all excellent experience. Would go back.
Incredible! Could not have asked for a better experience.
Absolutely delicious. Staff on point. Love the felted walls.
Appreciated the fact they can accommodate special diets however as a Pescatarian, was very disappointed that my meat replacement was 2 pieces of parsnips compared to my friend's ~ 4 oz piece of meat. Not an equitable replacement.
So great. So glad we went. Everything was perfect. Will be going back!
The experience—from start to finish—is wonderful. The food is prepared perfectly, and the wines are unique and paired really well. The service is great and servers are highly knowledgeable about the food and wine. Truly a special place.
We really loved a lot of the dishes tonight. The amuse bouche, potato fritter, vegetable in xo sauce, and the black bass was delicious! We also loved the kiwi Thai basil sorbet and the goat milk pana Cotta. The veal was okay, but I loved the elements of all the other dishes much more.
Their menu changes frequently and isn't posted on their site. We'd come back again and think they deserve a Michelin star.
Wonderful setting for dinner. Our entire group was quite impressed with the meal and also the wine pairing. The wines have been thoughtfully curated in regards to region, production and taste profile.
Cold meat served
Remanufactured aesthetic looked junky
Exceptional value and quality for the meal. The wine pairings and cocktails were exception. Service was perfect. Some courses could turn up the volume on flavor.
I enjoyed my experience here. Definitely a “foodie” destination, and not a place for unadventurous eaters! I do feel compelled to set the record straight: some reviewers mentioned “undercooked pork”, which was in fact veal and was cooked perfectly (yes, it was pink; yes, that’s ok). If you are picky, or don’t like “weird” things, or have a narrow/unrefined palate: do not come here. But if you love beautiful cooking, refined techniques, a something a little different; this place is definitely worth a stop.
A note on value: it’s not cheap, and the “entrees” are not large. However, there are many amuse bouch (sp?) and bread/butter so I left feeling satisfied.
Everything we had at Wherewithall was delicious! Love the tasting menu concept that is more manageable and affordable than my other tasting menus I have had. Also the focus is on natural wines - which were all great! Will definitely come back.
It is an experience that is best for foodies. The food is strange combinations
I didn't like the wine choices by the glass. The desert was weak tasted like pudding
with granola However the extra pre desert ice cream with rare olive oil was lovely
The service is way too rushed but I mentioned it they slowed it down Room is minimal
but pleasant and soothing
So much tasty food! We knew the 4 courses we were getting but then they bring out so many other mini surprise dishes as appetizers and an extra dessert too!
Very beautiful dishes and overall a great time. Definitely recommend.
While there are many additions to the standard menu that enhances the food offerings, the food in general, was poorly prepared and the portions were quite small. I am a 94 pound woman and left hungry. The pork course was chewy and had a think layer of fat on it. The fish course had an unpleasant order that made in undesirable to even taste. The soup course which maybe 2 ounces of soup that was tasteless. The best part of the meal was the bread and you will need to eat plenty of it to feel satisified.
So wanted to love this place after all the glowing reviews. Unfortunately didn’t love the menu and sometimes enjoyed the extras better than the courses. Even some of the standard things tasted off. The butter tasted sour, the olive oil ice cream smelled rancid, the paired wines were ok to too earthy. The service was friendly but not paced correctly, too rushed with food removal and too slow with wine pairings. I would recommend checking out the current menu before you go to make sure you would enjoy it. I was still hungry when I left which was unusual for a pre fix menu.
Great food and excellent informed service by Jess. We look forward to returning.
Enjoyed the experience, but the set menu featured an entree of very rare pork which was not very appealing to anyone at the table. So while we may return to the bar, dinner is too much of a gamble for how we like to dine.
I really wished I liked the food more. It wasn't bad by any means, but I think I had high expectations. There was one of 4 courses that I didn't care to finish.
Service was great, but almost too aggressive to clear our plate and rush out the next course. We would have appreciated the courses to be spread out a little more and allow us to finish our wine pairings before being served the next course.
Excellent experience. Our menu was gluten free by request.
Kaley our server was knowledgeable and attentive. Such a fabulous dining experience.
Fabulous food and excellent service. Creative food preparation.
Really good food & wine and pace. Service was excellent and the price is reasonable for the curated menu. The venue is very small, but it didn’t bother us as we were a small party. Went there because of recommendations from my friends, and I would recommend this to any foodies.
Wonderful food. So many little surprises kept coming, several different amuse bouche and great stuff
We loved parachute and all things Beverly Kim so I think we came into wherewithall with such high expectations that we were left feeling a bit disappointed. The meal as a whole felt very one note, that being bitter. Starting with an endive dip, to the extremely bitter radicchio plate without enough fat or acid to balance. Even the dessert was bitter with the cocoa nibs; and olive oil drenched ice cream that was somehow gritty.
My wife and I went for our anniversary. The food was incredible. Everything we tasted was so delicious. Drinks were fantastic. Our server was pleasant, attentive, and knowledgeable. Nothing but great things to say about this restaurant!
We were dazzled by our meal at Wherewithall. The cooking reminded us of how the Italians cook, just a few stellar ingredients done simply and well. We really appreciated the uncomplicated, unfussy dishes with big harmonious flavors. We will definitely return. The menu seems to change fully about once a month.
