Willard Hicks - Campbell
The food and service were excellent. The price was fair for what we were getting. Was seated close to the bar, which is part of the main seating area, and I didn’t really like that. But it was definitely not something that bothered me the whole time. Overall, it was excellent. I will definitely be dining here in the future.
The cornbread appetizer was burnt. The dessert, cookies, were cold. Steak was good.
Upon entry, we were welcomed with mixed attitudes. After having to move around tables because of some rain leaking in through the roof, we ended up by a small table for the 4 of us. It wasn’t a smooth start, but only partially because of the leaking.
We got an excellent server (happy, knowledgeable and polite, not over the top) and were happy with our food. The dining portion of the evening was great. The presentation of the food was excellent and it tasted how we expected it.
Our reservation included a special occasion tag, no one noticed or asked about it. Not even a booth was saved for us. The ambiance was ok but with a surprisingly old school feel - not vintage / western but old school (greeter in pullover, scratched tables, laminated wooden-patterned wallls). There is nothing wrong with these, except that the feel didn’t match the food quality and especially the prices. This would be a fantastic place in a lower price category - or with a higher standard of organization and a bit of updating.
Excellent service and the specialty ribeye and mac n' cheese were delicious. The shortibs were good but probably wouldn't order again, the blue cheese was a bit overwhelming. We had a fantastic server and very attentive to drinks and other requests. We sat outside which next time I'd prefer inside. Being outside on the sidewalk we had a lot of foot traffic coming by (people smoking nearby) as well as people leaving the restaurant lingered near our table which was uncomfortable. Overall, would come back again for the steaks and service. Next time I'll request to sit inside. Prices were very reasonable for a steakhouse.
Birthdays! Everyone enjoyed everything!
Steaks were cooked perfectly, scallops were tender and moist, and baked potato was jumping.
Whole family enjoyed it.
It's one of my favorite restaurants. Everyone was great. Only complaint about was that our waitress was busy with a big party so we got a slower service than normal. But she was fine and we didn't hold that against her cuz she was very nice.
Nothing that wowd me
It was ok, but not great! I feel like the service level needs to improve highly. When reservation was made it was noted tha it was a birthday celebration. We got a private room, which I tought was nice because the noise level was low for us and perfect. But upon arrival, my sister arrived first and had checked in, so as I arrived and approached the host (older gentlemen) as soon as I started to talk he interrupted me and said "you already got checked in", I then gave him a sarcastic HI because I would think his first words should have been hello and welcome. Sammy was our server and seems like the down energy was in the air, also gave us a very disappointing service, maybe she assumed because we were Latinos and I had instead of 6 adults, had 2 kids her tab would be less and didn't need to make an effort. Never offered appetizers or suggested cocktails, buy the time she came around we were hungry so went straight to entrees. She was very simple like not engaging at all, never asked if we were celebrating anything, which I was celebrating my birthday! Food was ok, we liked it. At this point the busser was the nicest guy, when he came to pick up plates he made eye contact, he asked how our night was going, if we needed anything, if we liked our meals...BOY I was expecting all of that from our server. When dessert came around. We ordered and i wish she would of asked as marked on reservation who's birthday it was so i could tell her mine and at least get a picture in that beautiful room with a candle :( but nothing. "So no upload to facebook for promo there" we still tipped her 18% as I am a great tipper and never like to leave less than that. But I think service could have made my experience for first time much better. Quality of food is good and place looks great but didn't think the price was worth the lever of service.
My date and I went here for our monthly date night. We arrived early for our reservation and waited for our table. After being sat, we ordered our appetizer and a glass of wine. The service was quick and attentive and our food came out in good time. The music and ambiance were funky and fun! We will definitely be back to enjoy the food and dessert again in the near future.
The place was pretty quiet when we first arrived and the host staff was friendly. We were seated at booth towards the front. Waiter asked for our drink order and apps right away and was very attentive. We ordered and the food came out without too much of a wait. Brother and wife shared the WH Chopped Salad which was very large and delicious.
My daughter ordered the Steak Burger medium and it came back extra well done, dry and a little burned. I ordered Street Tacos and (2 steak and 1 shrimp) but I received 2 shrimp and 1 steak, The waiter let me keep the shrimp taco and gave me another steak taco in a reasonable amount of time. We also order chocolate mousse for dessert which was very good and received 2 free birthday Cookies and Frozen Milk since we were celebrating 2 birthday that night.
The ambiance is great. This is a good spot to have a nice dinner and/or watch the game. My hope was that there would be more low-carb options at a steakhouse, but they seem to add sugar or flour to most of their options. Even the brussel sprouts had brown sugar. If you do not care about gluten-free or low-carb, then this is a nice place.
Delicious food! The ribeye was cooked to perfection, the poblano corn bread was sweet and savory buttery goodness, and the cauliflower was delish! $7 well drinks for happy hour were also a plus.
We enjoyed our meal and excellent service. The in-house DJ is a fun touch, but can be too loud for even cross-table conversation.
I made our reservation for 5 friends. 3 of us arrived together and I checked in and the hostess told me they had no reservation for me. I showed them my open table confirmation and the confirmation text. They had also called me the day before to confirm and I showed them the call log. They suggested we sit outside on a cold night, I said no. Hostess left to speak with a manager and was gone for several minutes. Then she came back and said there is nothing she can do.
Checked the list again, still couldn’t find me. Then suggested we sit outside again, still no. She said the open tables were all reserved and I reminded her that WE had a reservation. She left again. Came back again and said nothing she can do. She checked her list again and realized the other 2 people in my party had arrived earlier and were already seated at our table (they were seated by her!) so finally we were taken in to sit. This place needs to get their crap together.
Food came out cold 3 out if 5 dishes even coffe at end if dinner was cold. Waiter needs more experiebc
I used to enjoy this place but not anymore.
We went there with friends who are vegan, and who kindly asked if it was possible to get some veggies in lieu of the chicken that's in the kids menu (for their daughter). The waitress did not bother trying to ask someone at the kitchen if that was doable — she just replied "what's on the kids menu cannot be changed".
Well, turns out that the last time we went to Willard Hicks, our friends had made the same exact request, and they immediately accepted.
Veggies are on the kids menu, but they just come with some meat. Fries are also on the kids menu, with meat. Our friends just wanted veggies and fries. Not too hard right?
Anyway, the waitress ended up accepting their request, we had our food served about 20 minutes later.
Their daughter got her fries and veggies, along with some ketchup… but wait… that was SPICY KETCHUP. And by spicy, i meant REAL spicy, the kind of spicy you just DONT have a 2yo child try it!! They apologized and brought regular ketchup but oh god why in the first place!!!
My wife ordered the burger and ended up with an over-cooked patty (she asked for medium but it was clearly VERY well done… could even taste the charcoal).
Kids menu are supposed to come with a cookie as the dessert… we ain't got any (we had ordered 3 kids menu).
It's sad, cause I used to really like this place, but I feel like this is becoming worse every time I go there. Guess i'll have to find a different place that serves Delirium on tap now!
Great service and quality of food
What a treat! The service was great the food cooked to perfection. We enjoyed steaks and sides and everyone was happy with their selection.
All was perfect except for extremely high noise level
Always a #10.
Outstanding food and service.
I found the prices to be to high compared to the value and taste of the food. Perhaps this is a good happy hour spot as the ambiance and service is great. Sorry I can't say the same for the food.
Excellent dinner. Great wine list. We shared the fries as an appetizer. A bit too spicy, but hot and crunchy and creamy middles. Yum. My friend had the rib-eye, which she loved. I had swordfish. Delicious, and just as good cold for lunch the next day. Great professional friendly service. Will return.
Our server Dana was amazing. You can tell she loves her job, and is very good at it. Food was mostly excellent. Appetizers & sides were stellar. The steak was merely average.
They asked me if I was celebrating something when I made the reservation, I said yes my anniversary. But nothing ever happened at the restaurant, nobody even acknowledged my anniversary
Celebrated two birthdays in our party. We were seated quickly; it was a late reservation (830pm) on a Thursday evening. The wait staff was pleasant, quick and accommodating! We brought our own wine as corkage fee is $15; very reasonable! We ordered starters the meaty chewy rolls & Jalapeño cornbread. The roles were ok. Unfortunately the cornbread came out burnt twice. This was quite disappointing. The third batch was just ok. Entrees were very good & the sides as well. We’ll probably try other “like” restaurants in the area first.
Everything was great but the service was just average.
The host was not very helpful when we asked for a table that was larger than the ones they have set up for two people. Those tables are so small you can’t have an appetizer dish on the table with the menus at the same time. We needed to have them remove the candle and any dishes we were still working on in order to accommodate our meal plates. The waitress was great and the food was better than average. The only thing I was disappointed with was the risotto. It was a bit too sweet.
So disappointed! Great food and ambiance. Ordered the ribeye and chicken from the grill with the Mac and cheese green bean and mushroom sides. Incredibly disappointed after the meal. When I asked for the other half of my ribeye steak to-go with the leftover mushrooms the waiter took all the dirty plates including the ones I asked to take home. The bottom of the other plate sat on top of my steak. It’s disgusting and there’s no way I’m eating the leftovers if the staff has such disregard for cleanliness. Won’t be back.
This is now the 2nd time I have had a bad experience here. I went with my husband a few weeks ago on his company’s card. I ordered a filet mignon and it came out completely burned. When I asked to get a new one the waitress said they were having trouble with the grill. For the new filet and it till had a band taste like they were cooking on a dirty bill. Then to make matters worse when my husband goes to submit the receipt to his work we find out they billed us for TWO steaks!! I got charged over $40 for a steak that I took one bite out of and then sent back. Emailed management within two days and no response.
I take my team out last week. Again my steak was completely burned on the outside yet rare on the inside. It was so burnt I could not cut it with a steak knife. Also the fries were burned to a crisp and the cornbread was completely burned on the bottom.
Never again!! Save you money unless you like you food extra well done and crispy
Great server, dishes well explained when we asked, very reasonable wine prices, tasty food esp: coconut shrimp & pork chop with mash and sprouts. Three TVs of sports but at least they’re in a separate bar area. Good.
Willard Hicks did not disappoint! I had been meaning to come here since it opened and I was a little bit nervous it wouldn't meet my expectations, but it totally did! Our server (Anthony) did an amazing job! He really knew the menu and was able to elaborate/ suggest several drink options and food! I had the Pims drink and my boyfriend had the "some like it hot" they were outstanding! We also tried the cornbread which was a total high light! Also, the burger was legit the biggest burger/fry combo I've ever seen in my life! It's no wonder why they have a "split" option for that! So so yummy and truly gourmet!
We will for sure make our way back more frequently and recommend to anyone in the area! It was also the perfect place to celebrate my birthday as I got a delicious free dessert (cookie and ice cream) and they kept it discreet!
Can't wait to come back!
Chopped salad was a little bland. Corn side dish would be nice if kernels were cut from Cobb. My pasta with short rib was very good.
Great food and great service. Our waitress Brittany was so friendly and helpful with our first experience dining at Willard Hicks. Will definitely be back.
Great food. Excellent service. Cocktails were great. They were very accommodating with our toddler. Giving us a booth and making sure we had kid friendly utensils. Setting hot plates away from our toddler (it’s amazing how most people just don’t think about that).
Meeting up with old friends.
Tonight we had fantastic service and outstanding food.
Our grilled swordfish was excellent, our server was "genuine" and very good.
Our waiter Anthony was very attentive and provided great dining customer service!
We had the swordfish which was delicious. My only critique is that for the price, it would have been nice to have two sides included instead of a grilled lemon and a tiny bed of greens.
Poor service. Server was rude and impatient. Good came out cold. Overpriced for quality of food.
Steak was cooked medium, while I ordered medium rare. I notified our server, Vanessa, and she had the kitchen prepare a new steak. I've been here 5 times and this is the first time my steak had been overcooked. Vanessa was great. Love that there is no corkage for the first bottle of wine.
