Wok n Fire - St Charles
Excellent food (lettuce wraps and stir fry) and service
The food was delicious and the menu was packed with variety. Our server was very friendly and attentive. We will absolutely come back again.
Celebrating a birthday. Everything was excellent... including a nice birthday dessert. Only improvement would be to have someone pour the purchased bottle of wine. We had to pour our own glasses.
Always good. Food, service and value is consistently excellent.
I haven’t been to this location in about four years. Extremely busy and overpriced.
Food was good.
Thomas S, our server was great, food was great and it was fun. However, Thomas was initially not my server because the server i was supposed to have wanted to leave early because it was New Years eve. Thomas was great though and took over. Lastly, this was a great night but the bartender that night, was kind of rude and definitely, not helpful nor was she happy to be there. She needs some instruction on customer service. Once again though, Thomas was great and he was rewarded for his great work so whomever didn't want to stay and wait on us, you lost a big tip
Food was perfect and filling
Had a nice early New Year’s Eve dinner with my significant other before celebrating the festivities of the new year. Dinner was hot, tasty and delicious as was my date later in the evening!
Very average taste and quality. Best item on menu is spicy edamame.
I don’t like leaving bad reviews, and my comments are in regards to timeliness of our reservation. I had a reservation for a party of 10, actually arrived a bit early, yet didn’t get seated until almost 45 minutes after our reservation(cmon Sunday nite in st Charles?). I understand places get busy and diners linger. It was clear that they tried to cram in another seating right before our reservation, and literally did nothing to try and accommodate. When we finally were seated, we were rushed as our party had babysitters etc.
What’s most disappointing is the manager was in plain site, I’m sure he knew what was going on and made zero effort to even talk to us. He clearly went to other tables.
Food was standard, waiter did good job.
We skipped apps, some drinks dessert, etc so they lost out on revenue.
I won’t book a large party here again, even though I have several times in the past. It’s actually off my list for employee events moving forward.
Food was excellent! Will be back!
Wok n Fire has such good food! We love coming here, and Conor did an excellent job serving us. He was very friendly, and on time. The food was great, especially the Tom Yum soup and the Macadamia Chicken. Make a reservation for weekends, it gets busy fast. Will be back for more !
Average food. Average ambience. Average service.
We waited over an hour and a half for our entrees. Usually we never have a problem here but it was apparent there was a problem in the kitchen because everyone in the restaurant had to wait a very long time
We like the restaurant food was specially great this time. All of the requests were addressed on time.
Our server was great and always friendly and attentive.
Great food and fast service!
Server did not make us feel relaxed or welcomed. . She barely stood there long enough at the table to listen carefully. We had to basically tell her that we wanted several appetizers as she walked away from the table. Do you want my business or not? We felt rushed to get our orders in , even though the restaurant was dead. She did fill the beverages twice, and even asked if we needed anything, but honestly, it felt like a cheap fast food restaurant not a birthday celebration!
Food tasted good though. Kitchen obviously knows what they are doing.
Manager needs to address hygiene and protocol for food service. I cringed seeing the blonde gal delivering food to our table ,as well as the other tables, with her long hair dangling in the food! Wear hair pulled back, please!
We've been here several times before but this time we went to celebrate my daughters birthday and didn't have such a pleasant time. The did was medioker at best. It was cold. Most of us ordered the teriyaki steak! Others had the Mongolian steak and it was warm and delicious! I don't get it! Maybe it was just an off night.
We had a very nice dinner at Wok’n Fire - the food was great, particularly the salmon and steamed garlic spinach and the pad Thai. However, the noise level on a Friday night was very high so we’ll probably avoid that night the next time. Our waitress was quite amiable but distracted - perhaps too many tables to service? But we’ll be back.
Excellent food and nice service
Service was rushed and not special. Restaurant is loud. Food is good.
It was cold, the restroom smelled awful, service was very slow. Drinks too forever and were delivered one by one very slowly. One meal was made wrong and had to be sent back. It took almost 10 minutes for the correct meal to come. No apology was made and one of our diners sat without food while everyone else ate. A second meal was also made incorrectly and we sent that back as well. It came back correctly made when everyone else was done eating and it was time to pay the bill. This was over 90 minutes later from the time we sat down! Once again, no apology, just excuses. We requested it be boxed up and removed from the bill. Then the server and manager started to argue with us and refused to comp the meal if we wanted to take it home! So, we said to take it off the bill and throw it away. Which they did. Terrible terrible service and what kind of restaurant argues with a customer when they clearly made the mistake!
Plenty of help but do slow based on the number of people there. 30 minutes to get drinks. Forgot appetizers although they did comp that which was the right thing to do. We go often but if we were first time visitors not sure I would come back.
Great spot to celebrate a birthday!!
Way overpriced Chinese food, and most not very good. Horrific service. Very loud. In short, you can much better food, a quieter atmosphere at cheaper prices at any Chinese restaurant.
Everything we eat at Wok n Fire is great
Birthday dinner by request.
outstanding food, service and atmosphere. It's one of our favs
We've eaten at the St. Charles Wok'n'Fire many times in past and had a great meal. This time, however, the meal was not good. The steak satay appetizer was burned to a crisp . . . they even managed to skewer and char beyond recognition a piece of fat. The manager was sent to our table to discuss this appetizer and said that she noticed it was charred beyond recognition, but she didn't have a minute to circle back to take it away because she was dealing with some other issues. Hmmm, makes you wonder what's going on with this restaurant. My pad thai was not cooked to the flavor/temperature I had asked it to be. The chicken in it must have been cooked by the same unskilled griller because the chicken was overcooked and had a charred/burned flavor that overwhelmed the rest of the dish. We'll be giving this restaurant a break for a while.
Food is always good and the service was good.
It was our server’s first night as a waiter. The drinks were wrong and he brought of the garnishes for my drink in the palm of his hand. He stated he had never poured Prosecco before and asked my cousin how much he should fill her glass. There were just a lot of little things. At one point the manager came to apologize for him bringing over my lemon and lime the way he did yet she didn’t even offer to make me a fresh drink. That I think was the part that surprised me the most. Don’t come apologize and acknowledge it was bad but do nothing to rectify it.
Great experience even better food!
I especially appreciate the Gluten Free menu as I have Celiac.
I really enjoy Wok n Fire, though this was our first time at this location. The food is tremendous. Unfortunately the environment and service were lackluster on this visit. We were seated in a booth very close to the kitchen and employee 'break area' -- very noisy. It also seems that they've put some very bright lights over the booths, almost a spotlight of brightness, not very cozy. For a special occasion night out (which was noted in our Open Table reservation), it was a bit of a disappointing visit all in all.
Great staff that gave an excellent experience with tasteful food to match.
Delicious! Friendly and attentive waiter, casual atmosphere, not too noisy. Nice place to go for dinner. We tried some new things that were very good. The Yum Yum rolls and tuna sashimi are favorites.
For spending over $200 you would at least expect a properly cooked steak. It was completely raw in the middle. So disappointing
Host was unawsre of my request on OpenTable for a quieter table. He placed us in the walkway, and when I said I had made a request for a quieter spot, he said "we don't see those requests". Food was mediocre, but high priced. Vegetables are available as an added side dish, added price. Very hip spot, but lots of better food options close by.
Waited at our table over 15 mins before anyone came to take drink order. Even after telling the hostess we still had to flag someone down. They kept apologizing. After 20+ mins We finally got a server who was nice and again apologized and said we weren’t her table but she would take care of us. The food was meh it was like an expensive Panda Express The sushi presentation was terrible just globs of sauce with a leaf stuck in it. We were given a free appetizer coupon for our next visit which we thought was funny because we will never be back. Really Poor management someone should have known we were being ignored.
