Yukashi Japanese Cuisine
Got to sit at the bar, watching the chef. His work is so exact and deliberate. Memorable dishes were the soup, waygu beef with uni and four, and the tempura egg yolk. How do they make the egg yolk with it falling apart? It was still soft inside. The fall plate was beautiful. They make make leaves that looked real and tasted like chips.
I'd love to return in each of the seasons.
The restaurant vibe was amazing - the decor, cutlery, plates and even the chopstick holders were all chosen with care. Just like the interior, the food is carefully prepared and designed to not only look good, but taste amazingly complex and delicious. The staff and Izutsu-san are extremely friendly and wonderful, dedicated people. Thank you for an amazing experience, I will be back!
One of Toronto's best spots for Japanese cuisine. The head chef makes the experience so relaxing and enjoyable. He made us feel like we were dining in his home. Thank you!
Absolutely incredible. Very creative.
Although it tries hard to be a sophisticated omakase restaurant, it falls well short of the mark, especially for the prices being charged. The interior is too bright with tables and chairs that seem out of a diner. The sashimi was tough and lacked flavor. The main course which was "autumn inspired" was quite creative and tasty. The rest of the set course dinner was unique in the ingredients but fell well short in substance and taste.
Stunning presentation of food was like a piece of art! Quiet yet intimate atmosphere that chef Daisuke creates was cozy. We had great time dining here :)
Had a wonderful time at Yukashi. Food was very well thought-out to match the season, was scrumptious as well! Chef was very engaging and funny. Would definitely come back!
Great food from a master creator who has a lovely sense of humour and whose personality is everywhere in the restaurant’s fittings. Loved our meal. Super sale selection.
Lacks in atmosphere for such an expensive restaurant too plain
Interactive meal with chef and servers who are enthusiastic about the food, the regions where it came from. Nice pacing of dishes. It was incredibly fun to sit at the counter and watch the chef immersed in plating.
This has to the best experience I have ever had. From start to finish, from service to food. Everything are above expectations!
What an amazing experience. Chef Daisuke Izutsu is an inspiration. Knife skills were a show on their own and I experienced new flavours in each course that I had never tasted before.
I don't really know how to evaluate this restaurant. For $75, one gets "4 courses", which consist of a lot of small items. Some of these are imaginative, tasty and fresh; others are so-so, and others shouldn't have been served in an expensive restaurant (like the "dessert", which was on a bed of dried-up rice). Some of the white fish had poor texture and may have been previously frozen; one was hardly any better than a fish finger. Some items were attractive-looking but quite tasteless. There was next-to-no raw food, for anyone who might be expecting a sashimi type of experience. Generally speaking, I couldn't justify the expense again.
A very delightful dinner experience.
I felt like I was in Japan
Thank you Daisuke San🙏🏻 and his crew Rikiya San lovey Ayaka San🙏🏻😘😋
Amazing food, wonderful service and kind chef- his attention to detail did not go un-noticed. everything was well thought out and the environment was warm and welcoming- would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Fresh real wasabi and high quality sake that paired perfectly with every dish.
I enjoyed my dining experience. Chef Daisuke and staff connects well with everyone making our dinner memorable.
Fantastic food and sake. An experience not to be missed
Amazing! Definitely an experience to remember - highly recommend!
We had the nine course omakase and there were a few standout dishes - namely the grilled tuna belly, soup and their signature Wagyu with Foie gras and uni. The chef was such a good host; humorous and easy going. Plating was exceptional - great blend of sashimi colors with unique seasonal vegetables.
Amazing food brilliant service by the head chef at the sushi bar. Brilliant.
Excellent time at the chef's counter with an interactive experience while being presented with beautifully plated modern Japanese.
Very special experience for a special occasion. Chef did his best to accommodate some dietary requirements and made us feel so welcome at his table as he created beautiful works of art with the top quality ingredients.
The food is amazing. The chef is personable and the service is excellent. Pricey, but very worth it.
Such a special experience. Quite expensive, but worth it for a special occasion. Sit at the bar if you can!
We really enjoyed the food that was prepared. The Wagyu beef was absolutely amazing and it melt in your mouth. Kind of wish we got to sit at the bar though to watch all the preparation.
Terrific experience. We all had a fantastic time. Artful food serve with warmth and good cheer. We all left with fulfilled tummies and happy spirits. Many thanks to Chef Daisuke for his hospitality and care.
Food is not interesting and not taste good.
Nothing was prepared at the sushi bar / work table in front of you. All were done before hand. Even sushi were pre-slided and put into fridge.
For $150 pp for a pre-fixed dinner, it is definitely way over priced. Not worth it.
Maybe $60 pp will not make me this angry.
Very interesting concept. The food that they pair are different and unique. All the ingredients are very fresh. Definitely will return and will recommend to friends and family as well.
Quiet place, food is good
starting with the service, you are greeted by the most hospitable staff. the entire experience to the food, to speaking w/ the chef, and the little details (including bringing a happy anniversary dessert) were all much appreciated.
A must try, beautiful experience of Japanese Kaiseki cuisine! Highly recommended.
For an authentic Japanese food experience with a creative twist Yukashi fits the bill.
Their lichee sake is a must try!
All around wonderful meal and experience.
Service was good but food were very disappointed.
We can only finished 3 out of 9 courses due to general lack of quality in flavour. Steam egg custard with crab ball and clams were very fishy with an unpleasant odour. Bean puree was not smoth, bean residue made it difficult to swallow. Kimedai was blend and not fresh. Deep fried fish skin was not crispy and rather tough on palate. Duck meat ball had no duck flavor. For $150 per head I would expect a much better menu and quality.
Amazing culinary experience! A real treat for sashimi lovers. High quality and fresh ingredients. The chef is real artist! We enjoyed 8 course meal with sake parring. Delicious!
My partner and I enjoyed the 9-course meal each. For the quality of cuts of the fish and the authenticity of the ingredients, the price was very fair. The chef plated each course very nicely and was very interactive & entertaining. I would definitely come back to enjoy his works of art!
Food could be better with the price. Some very heavy and unbalanced sauces and tastes. Fishy smells in some dishes. But overall good experience. Good sakes.
food presentation was art on a plate. That alone is worth the experience. Best to sit at bar counter to see the chef in action and chat/interact with him. That made the night. Food wise, I think the flavour was slightly disappointing but again the experience was what made it an amazing night.
Hands down the most amazing Japanese restaurant in Toronto. Taste, texture, presentation - pure artistry from a true artist. The dishes are phenomenal! I urge every one with an interest in traditional Japanese cuisine to check out this little gem of a place. Thank you Master Izutsu for an outstanding experience. Our fourth time at your table and every dish was was sensational....!
An adventure in textures and flavors in Japanese food.
