The food was uninspired and boring. The quality was good but it was not very interesting or at any point an experience. I would not go there again.
A fantastic experience, beautiful food and outstanding customer service.
Thanks again for an amazing evening!
Just a few notes, as I am a regular guest since 2 years now, This time the hostess at the front during the evening was not nice at all, she looked angry and did not even say goodbye to us when we said thank you as we were leaving..
Also it would be great to mention that you don't accept N26 bank cards on your website, as we had to go outside during the dinner to get out cash :)
Tempura was soggy, fish used in the sashimi was limped and the soy sauce was salty.
No offer to remake either to show that it was mistake.
It was beautiful. The service was attentive and friendly. The food lovely. The ambiance superb. The sake pairing exceptional!
delicious traditional japanese food (as far as I could judge) and cosy atmosphere, super friendly service, always worth a visit (whenever the new menu comes ;-))
misu soup was very good!
the rest was just average level. Thus the price was too expensive. The service did many mistakes and you feel not welcome. That’s unusual for a Japanese restaurant.
Really delicious food but unfortunately a lil too overpriced I think
Having spent15yrs in Dusseldorf we have searched for 3 yrs for a liable Japanese restaurant in Berlin that is not foufou and soso run by Vietnamese business people. zenkichi is the first place that you compete with the kind of authenticity the düsseldorf Japanese culture has bern offering for anling time. Why are there nit more places that challenge the Berlin crowds with real Japanese cuisine? In short: we totally enjoyed the food and superbe sake
My husband and I loved it. It did not disappoint. It was an amazing experience that would be hard to match. The Sake selection were very interesting and delicious and matches all the dishes.
I booked for an anniversary 3 weeks earlier for 9.30pm. arrived with a 15-minute delay at the reception a person who called himself manager, rudely informed me that the kitchen closed at 22:00 and that only the a la carte menu was possible “, saying that she had phoned me 3 times to warn me and instead I had not received any calls and I had gone to try the 8 course tasting menu ... disappointing reception, the waiter had the wrong order and I got 2 dishes for less and so I didn't eat almost anything. the beautiful location and the great food but they should learn to deal with customers who bring money!
Bellissima l’ambientazione nei sotterranei. Grande riservatezza dei tavoli e servizio molto discreto e puntuale. Piatti ben preparati e cobo eccellente.
Last course little late this time. But excellent Sake recommendation and kind service.
Sehr, sehr gut 👍🏻!
This may suffer from me being unaquainted with Japanese food.
Eating at Zenkichi was an experience but more due to the setting rather than the culinary. Portions a very small - one or two mouthfuls. The same goes for the amount of saké per serving on the saké menu. While saké does in no way match the refinement of good wine, the food is delicate and well executed. To my European but well-experienced tastebuds it suffered from lack of salt and challenging tastes and combinations, and all hot dishes were lukewarm - not hot. Generally, the value for money was low. The 200+ euro bill could have gotten us a lot more gastronomically in any other restaurant in Berlin. But again, that may be the way Japanese food is supposed to be.
The setting however is totally cool. Like another guest said, when we coincidentially met in the restroom: "It's like Enter The Dragon!". And meeting other guests is rare, since tables have a small, secluded cubicle, so you have the impression of a very private dinner. We - a couple - were initially seated at a cutoff table meant for parties. That was not cool but by my request the very sweet waitress found us one of the small cubicles for couples. Get one of those, if you go.
We loved the food, great service and ambience. Whole staff is Japanese and you're being taken care of like in Japan which is about the opposite of our rough Berlin 'service' mentality. Classy but not pretentious at all. Calling me in advance to make sure we don't bring kids or dogs was a little odd. And despite this 'rule' it was quite noisy but that's on some guests' behaviour....
I remember Japan! I used this store for my husband's birthday dinner. special. I want to come again soon!
Very nice, unusual design, high intimity space, great food with unconventional taste
I have been many times to the Zenkichi restaurant in New York and despite its Berlin version tries to recreate the ambiance, the service is just terrible and slow
Amazing experience, extremely fresh food, very well presented as well. Amazing ambient
Great eating experience and the staff are really polite.
Very tasty food, skillfully prepared and arranged. It feels like having dinner in a wooden gazebo in the middle of a Japanese night.
Very enjoyable dining experiance for everyone interested in food culture.
Absolutely amazing food and interior! I would recommend to go here if you have the chance!
The starters were delicious, but to eat a piece of fish ( bones & fish fin ) with sticks was not able.
The very small table area is separated to the other guests , nice idea but to small. We have normal size and are not overweighted- but its not comfortable to sit there a longer time and its not so cozy to stay .
We love it, we are here dort our 4th anniversary and it was absolutely worth. We even received a small congratulations card doe our anniversary.
The interior was super cool, service person super professional and the food outstanding!
This was my 2nd time at this wonderful place and we enjoyed the full course including sake accompaniment – which i highly recommend. The presentation of the food as well as the taste is a delightful experience. every time again.
It was just AMAZING an delicious. Next time in Berlin I'll back for sure.
Cosy restaurant with private tables.
Excellent service but the food was not what we expected for that price. Not that tasty and similiar tastes.
We ordered four different dishes plus desserts . Desserts were really nice, but for me the starter and main dishes weren't that impressive. Maybe my expectation was too high.
Staffs were friendly, but I don't know why the call bell exists if we have to wait 20 minutes after we pressed the button. While the table across us were constantly visited by the waiter. At the end, we had to go to the reception to pay and were late for a show.
The atmosphere were really nice and private.
Food was amazing, very cosy atmosphere, super nice staff, magic experience
