   After two years of COVID isolation, we returned to Zingari last night with an out-of-town business colleague, based on fond memories of our previous dining experience there. My how times have changed! Our server, Eric, was so remarkably disinterested in our party as to border on surly and hostile. He clearly did not want to be doing what he was doing. When asked the ingredients and flavors of one or two dishes, he dismissed the question with a barely audible grunt, "they're both good." He had no suggestions for wines, appetizers, etc, just dropped the menus on the table and departed. Throughout the meal he was either absent or useless. Forcibly leaving a tip for 20% plus an additional service fee was highway robbery in light of the poor service we received. Not surprisingly, when the owner came to our table to chat, we hoped he was our new server...he was welcoming, interested and personable. But alas, he departed quickly and left us with the mono-syllabic Eric to contend with. At over $250 for 3 people, with minimal alcohol and no dessert ordered (or even offered), we are scratching Zingari off our favorites list. I can see why even with the City reopening, this restaurant can barely fill two tables. Word gets around in this town.

   The service was so nice. They seated us in the band room and we got to watch live music as we ate. The gnocchi was my favorite. highly recommend this restaurant for a dinner date

   Holy Moly, it is so loud in there can barely talk to person right across from you. I get they were busy, but it would always echo in that room. They were busy so service was unorganized and slow. They did comp. our next round of drinks but still. The atmosphere and food were amazing and I'd consider going back but not on a busy night.

    Horrendous service. When I asked if they had a Caesar salad the waiter basically said “ everything is on the menu”. Plus they mandate an 18% gratuity. Not sure if this is a norm for San Francisco or just this restaurant; however we will not be coming back ever. Food was good…but you can get good food many places, so no reason to get treated like crap from a waiter and then get charged for it. Ridiculous.

    Loved the option of the evening jazz show to compliment the dinner. It was nice to go on a date and have great food and drinks. Had a great waiter as well! Easy, fun, and engaging. Will go back again!

    What a treat! We absolutely loved our evening at Zingari. The place seems to get better and better. This was the perfect restaurant to catch up with old friends. Drinks: Large selection of very nice wines to go with any entree. They were helpful in their selections and let us taste a few first. Fun cocktails, too, with a choice top-shelf ingredients. I loved my Manhattan. Food: A tantalizingly broad Italian offering. All four of us loved our entrees. I had the Agnoloti, which was a tasty seafood ravioli (crab ricotta, rock shrimp, sun dried tomatoes) -- yum. My wife loved her pappardelle della nonna, another tasty pasta with short ribs and wild mushrooms. We also loved the carpaccio di polpo appetizer, which was thinly sliced octopus. I love octopus, so this was an interesting and delicious experience. They also said that they can substitute most entrees with glutton-free pasta. Service: Impeccable! Warm, attentive, and fun. They teamed up on us to make us feel like royalty (without overwhelming us). Eric and the team really took care of us. Timing was just right. Unlike other service experiences we've had lately elsewhere, these folks conveyed that they enjoyed what they do. We will surely be back to Zingari. Can't recommend it enough.

    The food was excellent and the service was great as the waiter would check on us frequently but not too frequently. The biggest complaints would be that the restaurant is small so when it fills up it gets loud and I sometimes had to repeat myself in conversation. This restaurant is also expensive so expect to pay at least $100 per person

    Took my mom for Mother’s Day and it was AMAZING! Leon (not sure if that’s how you spell it) was our server was awesome! And Frederico was awesome! So much knowledge when it comes to pairing the wine with our food. Definitely will come back to try other dishes on the menu! It was THAT good.

    We had an amazing dinner at Zingari. The service, food and drinks were perfect. We had the pasta carbonara and rigatoni, both were delicious. We booked the Jazz music experience and the music was fun to enjoy with dinner. Will definitely come back when we visit San Francisco again. **gluten-free and vegan options are available for those who need it!

    Love the vibe at Zingari, smooth music, sophisticated atmosphere and delicious food. The portions are on the small side and the fare is light and fresh, so make sure you order enough if you have a healthy appetite like me! I had a starter, salad and Salmon entree that were all very tasty and well prepared, and it was just right for a light dinner. The service is excellent and accommodating, making for an enjoyable experience all around

    Pasta was spectacular. Had short rib Ravi on pappardale and was sublime. Sausage rigatoni and spaghetti with meatballs all Italian grandma class. Drinks a little spendy but distinctive. Loved the “black Manhattan.” Appetizers great too, we shared the grilled veggie salad and fig toast, super fresh, perfectly prepared and plated. There are three dining rooms. Ours was smaller, lots of natural light and and cozily vintage but a little loud. Next time we’ll go to the jazz lounge to catch the live show, which sounded amazing from the next room.

    It was a totally adequate meal. The server was nice, the food was decent, the restaurant was clean...the price was to be expected. There aren't a lot of choices in this area, so, if I were in the area and needed to eat, I would definitely go back. Things to watch out for...many of the salads don't have lettuce in them, there is an automatic gratuity added (though they are upfront about it and there is even a little card in the check explaining why), and there was lipstick on one of our glasses (though the server very generously comped the drink and our dessert as an apology). The best thing we ordered was the short rib pasta...our waiter recommended it and it was delicious.

    Great dining experience within the Donatello before heading to the SF Ballet - our server Eric and busier Ramone took great care of us - I enjoyed the veal steak and my wife the prawn fettuccine

    We chose Zingari based on its close proximity to other events we were attending so didn’t have especially high expectations. As it turns out, the evening could not have been more perfect. The waiter was exceptional-he knew the menu in incredible detail, his recommendations were spot on and we even allowed him to choose the wine for the meal. The other staff were also attentive so that water glasses remained filled and plates were quickly cleared away, allowing us to focus on the business guests. 2 guests had lamb chops which they raved about. The other 2 of us had pasta dishes that were absolutely perfect. The restaurant was bustling and the noise was at times annoying but this likely comes along with the quaint nature of the elegant older building.

    Interesting place. Food was good. I disagree with the 1 star reviews about the food being cold and the service being bad. Service was very good. Food was hot. It is very loud though. The room with the band is filled with very loud music. The small dining room we were in has bad acoustics, making the room very loud. Not so loud you couldn’t hear each other speak… but close. Plenty of wait staff attending our table. The only surprise was that they added a 20% gratuity to a party of only four. Their loss. I typically tip 20% on the total amount including tax. If you tell me what to tip, that’s all you get.
