It was my father’s 91st birthday and the staff made it very special for him. He was tickled pink by the cake they brought him and all the attention. It was a lovely afternoon.

Absolutely worth it. I took my mom, my grandson and a friend there for her 83rd b'day. She loves going for queens tea etc. So i told her we all had to dress up and put on a facinator but i would not tell her where we were going. I wanted to surprise her. Surprised she was!!! My grandson even got into the "tea thing" and dressed in his suit!!! Didn't look like lots of food but it was deceiving. None of us could eat anymore so they gave us a box to take home the deserts and enjoy. Our waiter Gareth was wonderful also. He was funny and knowledgeable and took a picture of us all dressed up and our hats. It was very pricy (approx $62 per person) but I'd definately do it again...... And we'd all wear our silly hats ....... You have to go and enjoy at least once..... You won't be sorry you did!!!

Afternoon tea at Zoe’s is always delightful when in good company and the location is perfect. I would like to thank Dave for the excellent service. The tea selection is varied and very good. My only criticism
is that the offerings were mostly pastries and a little stale this time, including the scones.
There were very few tea sandwiches also a bit stale and that is a notch down from a real English tea experience.
I must admit to being disappointed for the price.

It was a lot of food! It would be lovely if we could share. You charge per person but one serving would be enough to share. Especially the desserts! Five desserts each was too much. It would have been nice to be able to simply share everything.

The experience of afternoon tea was unfortunately not as good as it was on many occasions for many years. They may have new furniture and lovely cushions at Zoe’s but you cannot serve mascarpone cheese with scones and call that Afternoon Tea! If you do not serve clotted cream at afternoon tea, then don’t bother with afternoon tea. It was certainly not high tea with so many tea leaves floating around the tea pot with no strainer in sight! Not one but two melba toast lookalike replacing the famous crust free sandwiches. Too many desert pieces, not enough meat, fish, cheese, etc. Scones were small and as mentioned earlier, served with mascarpone and jam...
How I miss the old menu! And no one at the coat check when you leave. Had to stick our heads in the service area to get someone’s attention... It may be a good restaurant and cocktail place for hotel guests and locals but the traditional High Tea is long gone! I’m so sad. I will not go back.

Dave is an excellent, mannerly and kind server. I miss the tea trolley! I find the ambience missing some of the romance of the past in part because now even the trolley is gone. We do this for connection with the past

Dining room really beautiful and worth a visit. The waiter was polite and attentive. The mussels and fries were average to not-so-great as the fries seemed warmed over (staff quickly brought me a replacement) and the broth for the mussels lacked flavor.
I'd still recommend it however, just for the ambience.

The service was amazing. More than enough food but too many sweets. A couple of extra sandwiches and less dessert would have been ideal. Did not eat all of desserts and still too much. Delicious though.

We attended tea to celebrate my granddaughter’s birthday. The service was superb and the staff very friendly and accommodating. The staff even sang happy birthday to my granddaughter and greeted her as “Princess” repeatedly which was very nice. I am sure she will remember her 11th birthday!

Disappointing in every way. Poor service and mediocre, barely warm food. What a shame, such a perfect location where one would expect so much more. There were four of us for lunch, we ordered bread and specifically asked that it be served before the meal as we were all very hungry - it arrived about a half hour later, after the food; three people had mussels and the waitress brought only one finger bowl for everyone to share; the restaurant was virtually empty but we were told we could not sit at a window table; no knife was brought with the bread so we could not cut it and had to ask for a knife, no spoons were provided for the three people having he mussels and for the fourth person having "Cioppino - fish soup" - we had to ask for these also; no bowls were provided for mussel shells which we again had to ask for and, the waitress had little knowledge of menu items including whether the Cioppino was a hot or cold dish and whether the Thai Chicken Salad was spicy. In our view, the server was poorly trained.

Perfect spot after getting married!! We really enjoyed the tea and scones as a way to celebrate. However no one asked us if we were celebrating anything to offer us champagne but they did ask the table beside us.

Attended high tea.
Great location, terrific room, very good service but the food was just not good. Hard to believe you can mess high tea (I have never been to high tea that didn’t serve cucumber cream cheese finger sandwiches, don’t judge me, I loooove them).It seems Zoe’s try too hard and miss the point.

I tried the lobster which was decent. The starter (bread & butter) I ordered came late together with main dish, but bread was really delicious. There was a bit of a mixup likely due me going there during tea time as they assumed that I was there for the afternoon tea.

Overpriced for the small bit of mediocre food you get. The scones and whipped butter are the best thing on the menu. I purposely booked an off-peak hour to het the off-peak rate of $50 (I believe), but because it was an Abington Abbey (??) special day, I guess all the rates were at $62. Plus the tea list was so very limited, I didn't get the tea I really wanted. When I booked on-line for Sept 21, it said nothing about any of this or the higher rates. So while $50 is pushing the limit, $62 is way too much, especially when I wasn't expecting it.

Ambiance was nice but food was very disappointing. Sandwiches were not freshly made and bread was dry and ends of lettuce were turning brown. Desserts were stale and old and Icing was old and hard.
Very disappointing for the Chateau and the price charged. No where near the quality offered by the Empress in Victoria.
My wife’s 6 sisters were visiting from the west and this was intended to be a special treat. Have been going to the Chateau for the past 50 years and this experience has turned us off. Quality control sadly lacking and the modern time trend that nobody cares seems to prevail at least last Wednesday afternoon.

While we had a lovely time it took awhile to get our servers attention when we needed milk/sugar and then again to actually get the items. Additionally we waited quite awhile before being able to request our bill and again to get our bill. I’ve been to high tea before and the service was exceptional, so perhaps it was just a one off on Sunday. I should add that you can expect to wait for things when the restaurant is busy, but this wasn’t the case Sunday. Thanks again.

Wonderful experience in a lovely historical setting. However, it’s a bit pricey for quality and quantity of food, which makes for a one time experience and not likely a repeat.
We had the special afternoon tea at Zoe’s. Service was inattentive (e.g. our children were presented with their food and a minute later it was taken away as it was actually for another table), slow (e.g. adults waited 30 mins for food) and we had to tell the staff several times of special dietary requirements, despite informing the hotel the day before. The quality of the food was variable and the children’s tea was not high quality: Hot chocolate was more milky than chocolatey; the cheese in the sandwich was processed and rubbery. For a 5 star hotel, some say the best in Ottawa/Canada it was underwhelming and not the high standard I expected.

Atmosphere was nice and quiet. Everything you want in an afternoon tea. Savouries were delish. Sweets a little too sweet for us but still extremely tasty. Would suggest to any afternoon tea establishment that it might nice to offer guests a choice to increase their savories and decrease sweets or vice versa. Overall the tea and food selection was unique and well thought out. Service was excellent and wouldn’t expect anything else from the Chateau.

I want to be specific in that I'm only reviewing the afternoon tea session. The afternoon tea is not worth the amount of money you pay. The desserts are fantastic and the tea is some of the best. The sandwiches unfortunately are underwhelming and not memorable. We were celebrating a birthday and this was by far the low point of the day. Very disappointed.
Tea at Zoe's was a once in a lifetime experience. As guests to the city and it did not disappoint. We had 2 adult teas and my children had a Prince and Princess tea each. Making it a success was the care of Alex, our server, who was attentive and understanding of 2 children at their first tea. (Furthermore, the children were of the age and expectation to sit politely for an hour). The delicacies were the star. We indulged in plates we had never had before and the selection of teas was broad and a few of them are truly rare. The children's menu was appropriate to their simple tastes and the adult tea was special and distinctive enough to make it appropriate for a celebration. Overall, it was a quiet, luxurious experience that will live in our hearts forever as the highlight of our family trip.
