Lovely food, always good and local... what's not to like.
Food outstanding - this is our second visit and not the last.
Toilets (unisex) could do with upgrading
First visit - won’t be our last
Great food with helpful staff
The chocolate brownie with cherries and ice cream was superb
Very happy with the fixed price menu choice, and the only slight crtiicism was that the guineafowl was not as tender as it might have been. Otherwise all very enjoyable.
Food and service were very, very good. All four of us had different starters and main courses, all of them were excellent. Thoroughly recommend!
Excellent food and service. Lots to choose from the menu and excellent selection on the vegetarian menu. Highly recommended xx
The Pigs cheeks and the Apple Tart were fantastic. Thank you
Really lovely restaurant and food equals anything I've had in London. So pleased it's still thriving!
A lovely post Christmas family lunch - very good food with attentive service.
I have been here quite a few times. When Mark Baumann owned it the now owner was the chef.Nothing has changed and it is still a lovely place with a exciting menu.Good quality produce with food tasting lovely and well presented.Art work in the toilets is well worth a visit too.One of the nicest places to eat in north Essex.Love it.
Last Friday before Christmas, very noisy as you would expect. Been going here for 20 years and although the service and ambiance varies, the food is always excellent.
Stunning as always with great service. Very lucky to have this on our doorstep
Our lunch was very disappointing. Our lamb was quite tough and I did not like the bubble and squeak.
Although the restaurant was quiet the service was slow. Ranfields is my favourite local restaurant but this particular day, it was not up to the usual standard.
The restaurant is well appointed and décor and ambience good for special occasions. Food is very good and excellent wine list. Service is attentive but lacks small elements like clearing finished glasses but they carry out the service in a very agreeable manner. Would use this restaurant over and over again
Celebrating our daughters birthday. We had a fabulous roast lunch. Service superb as was the food.
Definitely come again.
excellent sunday lunch and attentive friendly staff
This restaurant service quality food, in a quirky and lovely setting.
Amazing place for a special lunch or dinner, a date night or somewhere nice to go with friends.
Staff are friendly and accommodating.
We had a delightful joint birthday celebration dinner. Being a Wednesday evening but was not exactly humming, but the atmosphere was very pleasant, our waitress charming and the food exceptional as ever.
The food was really nice and it makes a change to get a menu that is both varied and unusual. The service was just the right level of being attentive without being intrusive.
very enjoyable sunday lunch - great service and atmosphere; highly recommended
Loved our meal and experience as always!
Fabulous meal, good value and so lucky to have this on our doorstep
We had not been to Ranfield's for some time and were struck by the wide-ranging, imaginative menu.
Wish it was closer to home.
We shall be back.
Stephen and Sally.
I have been to Ranfields quite a few times as I live in Coggeshall, this particular visit was ok but the food wasn’t the best I have had, my friends meal was served to the table cold and my main course was quite small, more like a starter, lovely restaurant and I think we are lucky to have it on our doorstep but I’m sorry to say standards had definitely slipped on Saturday
Lovely meal, was well paced and never felt rushed which made it even more enjoyable.
The food was excellent as it always is. The service was friendly and efficient. And the toilets are wonderful!
Delicious... Excellent service, Chef was very accommodating and adapted dishes to accommodate my diabetes. Will definitely return.
Excellent service and food in a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Situated in a similarly pleasant small town/village with a nice array of small, specialist shops. Well worth the visit for my excellent seafood choice. If I could eat that much these days, i’d try the remarkable-looking taster menu
The food was superb the service was excellent we were made to feel very welcome
We enjoyed a great Sunday lunch there. Food and service both lovely. Especially helpful and knowable about gluten free options.
Had a lovely Sunday lunch here and was seated at the window table, which was perfect with the warm weather. The service and attention was perfect. The food was delicious, I had the baked lamb chops, and although a little more well cooked than requested, they were still moist and tasty. The veg was cooked perfectly. The spicy meatball starter went down well with my guests as did the pork main. Will definitely visit again. The restaurant has a nice wine list that is priced well.
Great food, service and wine as always
Having dined in and around Chelmsford my Dad and Stepmum asked about trying something afield and i came across your restaurant by chance. We were excited to go somewhere different and the whole experience was brilliant.
My stepmum has allergies which were well catered for and there was great communication between the chef and my Stepmum via the very helpful waitresses.
The food was fantastic, can’t fault it at all. It was definitely value for money and I hope we will come back another time. Superb service!
Might I add, my Dad and Stepmum live in Warwick and made the drive down in a day and back for the purpose of coming to Ranfield’s Brasserie.
Thank you so much!
Sunday lunch : food was fabulous and the staff attentive, our first visit with friends and will certainly come again
Continually outstanding. I simply cannot heap enough praise on JB and the staff at Ranfields. Always feels like visiting old friends or family for fine dining. Simply amazing.
Was an outstanding experience from start to finish. The service was great and the food was outstanding
We chose the lite bites menu which was good value, 3 courses for £20.50.Our server was very pleasant however very unknowledgeable about the menu.
My friend asked what she could have on the menu that was gluten free, she was told to pick something 1st and she would check with the chef , when we questioned this odd way of choosing she did then bring an a la carte menu which said which meals were n/a....
My starter said soup du jour with crusty bread, no bread was served, when I questioned this she had to go check if bread came with the soup, and then I had to wait another 6 mins for the bread!
We had ham hock egg and chips, and the eggs both had uncooked white, yuk!
And when we chose dessert again my friend asked what she could have that was gluten free was offered 2 choices, and chose the Rhubarb parfait with shortbread, which arrived with no shortbread, when questioned we were told this Is how the chef adapts the dessert for gluten free by not serving the shortbread!!
Have had better meals and better service on previous visits.
No Ambiance really but The restaurant was empty, Wednesday lunchtime, expect for several pesky flies which kept landing on our plates and glasses..
My wife and I went on a Tuesday night using the Meerkat 241 deals having been to the cinema. We booked for 7.45pm but arrived early at 7.15pm and were seated with no problem. The A La Carte menu has quite a wide selection with also a seperate vegetarian menu and a Table D'Hot. So all bases covered.
Food was very good - cooked and presented well. My Pork Belly was succulent. Service was very good although 1 waitress across 16 covers (that night) meant she was working hard. A 2 course meal with a couple of nibbles, a couple of glasses of Merlot and 2 coffees came to around £70 but £52 after the 241 discount. On that basis excellent value for money. We have been a few times and will return.
Food, service and ambience was very good. We have been here twice each time perfect.
Lovely meal. We haven’t eaten here for a whIle but we’re glad we returned. Shall be eating at Ranfield’s more frequently.
