Our first visit, and we hope to become now "regulars"! The service was quick but more important, it was thoughtful, attentive, interested in us. The food (lamb and seafood dishes and naan) was terrific, well conceived and prepared . Thank you for a great evening.
I’d been going to this restaurant for few years and their tandoori never failed me! The mixed tandoori grills came with two pieces of chicken, large prawns, white fish and lamb, perfect for couples to share! Since I don’t eat lamb, they’re always let me change to other meat or seafood. The best tandoori chicken I had tasted, it’s super juicy, tender, tasty! Love their different naans, curries are not their best, but everything else were great! It’s modern decor makes this restaurant better than the typical Indian restaurants. Very nice services, food usually took quite a while, I guess that’s because the tandoori chicken was made to ordered and it’s worth the wait!
Excellent flavors and great variety to choose from! Friendly staff
Love it , it takes too long to serve food !
The roti was cold and the vegetables were not as good as it used to be.
We love the food but the service is really slow, to the point of irritating. It seems like they could solve the problem by having more people working. The waiter was also baking drinks!
Great food & awesome service!
Food was fair. Beware most dishes are quite spicy. We didn't have a problem with that. The problem was the service. There didn't seem to be enough servers. It took forever to get our drinks. Cocktails are ok, was expecting better. The lamb Rogan Josh was pretty decent. So was the rice with shrimp. Don't order fish dishes. Meh. My son ordered a chai. It was so lacking flavor. Considering how spicy the food is we were hoping for a nice chai. Bummer. Not going back.
Horrible food. Service was crappy. They don't understand well and placed an additional order of appetizers for us. Food was bland and boring. The Naan was sorta raw and doughy. The worst was they apply an automatic 20% to tabs and no where is that listed. Definitely won't go back due to lack of service, horrible food and crappy policies.
Best traditional indian food in the bay.
Really great food - service a bit slow and iffy and some mistakes. Not too expensive.
We were celebrating my friend’s birthday and truly enjoyed the vegetarian food. The service was excellent too.
Awful! I tried this place because I didn’t want to drive into SF & it had decent ratings on OpenTable.
We arrived a couple minutes late for our 7pm reservation. We were not seated until 7:10. It took about 30 minutes to place our order. Our cocktails took about 15 minutes to arrive.
Finally, around 8pm, a full hour after we arrived, we were served our appetizers, which were awful: the fried onions were cold and overcooked, the dumplings were devoid of filling, just fried dough basically.
The food came soon thereafter. I thought the food was OK, but certainly not worth waiting over an hour for.
I would have given this place a negative 5 for service, if that was possible. Terrible experience, never going back.
Took a long time to place our order. But the food was delicious and worth the wait
Really Greasy! Ordered curry and it had so much oil on it. Tandoori Prawns were overcooked and again so much oil on it
Food was as amazing as it always is. But service was slow tonight. And plates were just dropped on our table.
Fish tandoori was amazing. We’ll be back for that. Chicken TM was meh.
Surprisingly large portions of delicious food. Tandoori fish is outstanding. Great dals. I sometimes have stomach upset after Indian food due to the ghee or oil used. Never at Rasoi. I've eaten here 4 times (am an out of towner).
Food here is amazing! The chicken in the biryani is so tender and flavorful, the tandoori chicken falls off the bone. Their daal is easily the best I've had. I do wish the service was a little better. I only saw the server twice: once to take the order and once for the bill. It also takes them a second to get to you once you sit down so normally I ordering drinks, appetizers, and dinner all at the same time rather than being able to order a drink and look at the menu. The wait for food is never too long though!
Great Indian food, have been loyal customers for years. Love everything about it!
The best traditional Indian food in San Mateo area! Nice balance of flavors!
Very loud, food was okay asked for spicy had NO heat to it.
Naan was good wish they used white meat chicken rather that thigh meat
Rasoi on the night we went was busy, so we did not get the attention, Drinks were super late in arriving / arrived same time as appetizers (tandoori and kebabs). Table we were seated at were still dirty from previous diners. Food plating was messy and food arrived before they cleaned up the appetizers plates...
Love the food
Staff needs to be trained appropriately. took our drinks order but forget to get my husband's drink when they got mine. We had to remind them twice and the palce wasn;t even busy.
The server waiting on us could use some deodrant
The service was really great. Food was divine. It’s a little pricey but we had a fantastic time. Parking was no problem. I would recommend it to everyone .
Small overpriced portions that our server knew nothing about. We asked several times for help in choosing and zip, nada, nothing. Service as you might have expected from that point on was awful and my wife’s had hives for two days after eating there. Ridiculous, loud, bad food, bad service, overpriced, small portions, what more can I say... head across the street for Mexican and margaritas!
The basic staples of an Indian meal were out the night we dined there with friends.
Papadum? Rotis? These are not unique or exotic items to be out of, but again are staples of an Indian meal. If you're truly out of these items, why couldnt someone run out to the local Indian store to buy more papadum or atta to make this and have it available for customers? Simple fix in my eyes that would avoid a negative review like this. Poor planning on the part of management or absentee management.
Service a bit spotty but food was excellent. All four of us would return.
I love the food at Rasoi, the dal(s), the mixed tandoori plate, the lamb biryani (on another trip), mango lassi'-s are all super tasty. I like their cocktails, too.
Amazing flavors..clean preparation..friendly service..great value
great food but they have got to get it together with the amount of time it takes to serve. we waited for almost an hour. the servers are nice tho.
When restaurant gets busy the service collapses
Going back and bringing the family this time! Well worth the drive from Livermore Ca.
This was the best Indian food I have had in the Bay Area. Wow the Tandoori chicken was amazing. My wife said that she would get that dish every single time we ate there, without fail. I also had the chicken korma which was super tasty and went really well with their basmati rice. Highly recommend this place.
Very poor service. Delayed food. They don’t come to give you water. At one point in time, there was zero people in the whole front area for over 10 minutes.
I really like tanduri chicken. They cook it very good. Last saturday night I wanted to have calamari with a beer for starter. But all dishes came at the same time. That’s was still ok. Because they were apologized and they didn’t charge calamari. I’m writing this review if they will approve their services to be on the time. Everything will be 5 star. Thank you again your delicious food.
the food is always fantastic but they were pretty short staffed, although friendly and accommodating when they did get to us after 20 minutes of sitting at the table.
Another great curry at Rasoi - keep it up 😀
