Reel Seafood Co
We are regular customers - we prefer the old menu. Miss the clAm strips in particular. Servers had not been trained or made familiar with new menu items. Service was slow and somewhat inattentive - needs to improve at his price point. Quality of the food served was excellent. Thank you.
excellent food. Server was nice but would get distracted.
We had dinner on a Friday after errands and shopping. Location is convenient with ample parking. Ambiance is comfortable and relaxing. Staff is friendly and seating was a breeze. The meal was perfect. My beet salad was refreshing. I had salmon and my partner had tuna. Delicious. The restaurant got busier as we finished, giving the atmosphere more buzz but still comfortable and inviting. We look forward to returning to try some other dishes. Highly recommended.
The food was excellent - so many good choices we actually did 3 courses and shared the final one. Staff were friendly and very accommodating - definitely will be back!
Service was very slow. Food was just OK.
Vegan option is ridiculously expensive and totally not worth it, but the rest of my meal was good..
Food and service is always good. They need to bring back Creme brûlée’s!
I did not have a good food experience! Our waiter was very nice and accommodating. The food however was poorly prepared and presented! I ordered a salad that had shredded crab that had a very unpleasant flavoring! The clam chowder was mediocre; we also had a hummus /olives plate that was good. The bread that the waiter brought before we were served our food was hot and cooked off to become chewy fir some and hard as a rock for others! The food was way overpriced for its quality!
Everything was very good but the stuffed haddock could have been better. My fish was on the dry side and stuffing was very well done and dry. I really couldn't taste any crab in it. Again it was ok but would not rave about it or order it again! My husband loved his salmon and our crab cake , salad and rolls were great! We shared the dessert and loved the mousse cake.
My first experience is definitely going to be a lasting experience! Thank you.
We were there a little early and enjoyed the Happy Hour with oysters and clams. The meals were wonderful - flavorful and hot. The wait staff were extremely attentive and knew their wines and menu items.
My server was nowhere to be found and a smile could would have been nice too! Food got me sick!
Excellent seafood, great service and beautiful decor. We go here frequently and it's always great.
Always enjoy the great service and cheerful staff like Crystal, Alyssa and Paulie, always entertaining
Food was very good. We ordered off the specials menu for the Colonie Restaurant Week so did not order anything out of the ordinary and that was not expected. Service was very slow. Took (3) hours to have dinner/dessert from start to finish. Waited a long time for our entrees.
Great food (loved the mashed potatoes), great waitress, GREAT Anniversary! Thanks to all!
We originally came in for happy hour but after we saw the amazing dinner menu we decided to stay for dinner! We enjoyed the lobster ravioli and seafood risotto! Service was everything you could hope for. Management came and checked on all the bar a few times it was nice to see.
I ordered the Tuscan salmon. That was good but the side of asparagus that I ordered and paid $8 for was not. It was small in size and not cooked properly. Asparagus should be Al dente, but this was almost raw. The stalks were not trimmed and, as a result, I could only eat the tips which were cold.
The service was great so we did enjoy.
The food this evening was disappointing. The Oyster Shucker did a poor job shucking - had more shell than most beaches - really bad. The strips and stix were dripping oil. Really poor preparation and inedible. Service started good and spiraled downward. Too busy focusing on bigger parties and ignored those who dine here regularly. I have seen a noticeable difference in food quality and service since July. This is a regular dining spot when here on business - no longer.
We're long term fans of Reel Seafood and have considered it one of our highest "go-to" choices for an outstanding meal. But the last few times we dined there, we felt that the menu was more limited than in the past, and both the entrees, desserts and even the mixed drinks were on the bland side, with limited character. At the prices charged, that should not be the case. (Exception: the hot rolls with butter and dipping sauces are still outrageously great.)
Sorry, but we miss "the old days".
Seafood is fresh and delicious. Oysters & clams on the half shell are super fresh. Lobster & King Crab legs were cooked perfectly. Plus this is a local restaurant (super important to me) and the owner is involved. The ambiance feels like a special occasion spot but without stuffiness, making it great for any time and anyone. Many of the staff have been there for a long time and they are always welcoming, accommodating and friendly. A few tips: I don't think there is a kid's menu (although children are welcome). The steak (filet) is good, but not great- stick with seafood for the price. Mashed potatoes are heavenly. The creamed spinach falls a little flat. Happy hour has $1 oysters until 6pm.
Everything was great for our dinner. Waitress was very personable, knowledgeable, pleasant and kept checking on us at the right time.
Noise level was fine, but I would expect it to increase the more the tables filled up.
Food was right on target. I was fortunate that the waitress mentioned that the initial meal I selected was fried which I did not want. I opted for another fish dish. I suggest if a meal is fried, make sure it is called out on the menu.
Overall, great evening and we will be back as we have been in the past few years.
Reel Seafood is nice inside and looked about 1/3 full.
I called the restaurant the next day. I asked for the owner or GM. They took my phone# and name. Never heard from anyone. David 917-856-7368
We really enjoyed having Joe as our server. He was very attentive and helpful.
Have been to restaurant each time in Albany. The only problem was the noise level. Hard to hold a conversation, but food very good.
We had the lobster special and it was really delicious. Also, we had our favorite waitress, Debbie and she was excellent! Loved the chocolate banana cake!
I had seafood chowder that was good. Main course was broiled seafood. Portions were small but good. Sides of creamed spinach and spicy rice. Very good sides.
We've been going to Reel Seafood for years, and this was the first time we were a little disappointed.
I always get salmon, but this time it was very fishy tasting.
I also thought the price was quite high for one piece of fish and no salad.
Hi Pamela, I am so sorry to hear about your experience on September 8. I would like to hear more of your feedback offline and invite you back to our restaurant. Please contact me at (518) 458-2068 Thank you, Kevin Lynch Restaurant Manager
Not for brunch. Food was awful. Service was OK. Very disappointing.
Very loud and was not able to sit out side like requested.
The food was excellent but market price was high.
Waitress was some what attentive how did not refill drinks or check in enough.
Would go back for a special occasion.
Disappointing. Oysters not opened cleanly and had pieces of the shell in most. Waitress didn’t tell us where they were from which we expected since the menu did not specify. Caprese salad consisted of a less than farm fresh tomato thinly sliced and slices of a mozzarella log similar to that which we get at Sams Club or the grocery store. The Cioppino was tasty but since our server never checked on us or asked if we needed anything, we never had a water refill or extra bread to soak up the sauce. With so few seafood options in the area, it is disappointing that this conveniently located spot is now crossed off our list.
Very romantic setting , loved the food and good service. We will be back in next few months to try other items on menu.
As always, the freshness of the seafood was excellent. The ahi tuna dish was way too salty. Service was okay, but staff had to be reminded several times about specific requests. These things were minor. We look forward to always stopping in when we are in the area.
Food was great. Waitress gave us plenty of time to talk. Did not rush us. Would definitely go back again when in the area.
Good waiter & good food. We are frequent visitors. Never disappointed
Excellent food and dining experience, never been there before and none of my guests had been there, we will all be back ...loved it!!! The food was awesome!
Food is always excellent and well prepared. I like the new Poke bowls on the brunch menu. There are many new selections that we look forward to trying.
I took my family to have dinner this past Saturday evening. We really enjoyed the service and the food. Thank you
The food was good but overpriced for what we got. Extra charge for asparagus and it was not cooked well and the portion was small. Scallops were good, cooked just right. The seafood with pasta was a good dish, once again the plates were overpriced. The waitress was inexperienced and the service was very slow for a relatively quiet restaurant. The restaurant isn't bad, it's just not worth the premium prices.
