Another solid restaurant from Alon Shaya. This one claims to be more casual but the food is still absolutely stellar. The hummus is incredible, the salatim are all delicious (I'm a big fan of the labneh and lutinista) and I had a phenomenal oyster sandwich. The pita is of course fresh, endless and melts in your mouth. It's still a little pricey but you certainly get your money's worth. I also appreciated them having non-traditional soft drinks such as house made sodas and tea. I'll be sure to return as often as I can.
Saba was a delightful surprise. The menu items were a tad pricey but our choices for dinner were well worth it. I had the lobster ravioli in a pesto cream sauce and it was delicious. My wife had the eggplant parmesan which she raved about. My son had the Cavatelli and Sausage in a creamy tomato sauce which he loved and my daughter had the Carbonara in an al-fredo like sauce. We finished the meal with Gelato, a flourless chocolate torta (amazing) and cannoli. The meal, ambiance and service were outstanding. We will be back to try the other dishes!
We waited over an hour to get our drinks and then another 30 for our food. We were excited to try the restaurant, but we were not impressed with the service and the food was average.
I ate dinner here with my family who were visiting from out of town with their 4-year-old for dinner. Our server was incredibly accommodating and gave great recommendations. The service was phenomenal. The owner even stopped in to ask how our meal was. Everything we ate was delicious, especially the lobster ravioli and the prosciutto di parma bruschetta. Prices are reasonable as well.
Delicious food with great service!
was too loud to hear the server and he couldn't hear us. Ended up searching google to learn about menu.
The server was a little annoying and I felt he was a little too casual. At one point he sat next to my guest on the bench and said he needed a rest. He may have been joking/ maybe she and he were communicating before I got there but having just arrived to the table I felt it was a weird exchange.
Excellent menu and food. Nice, energetic vibe however it was very loud. It would be better if they could turn down the music a bit. Otherwise a very enjoyable experience.
Service was great, food was even better! AC was not working but they made sure we remained comfortable.
Had a great meal Saturday night. Great ambiance with open air dining room if weather permits. The chef is super creative with many great dishes at great values. Most dishes are large enough to be shared amongst 4 people or serve as an entry for one person. Also had a unique daiquiri that was fantastic! A high recommend!
The food was bad
We should’ve sent it back
As always, the food and service were perfect. Try the brandy old fashioned! A perfect date night!
Food was good - our server was new which was fine but he didn’t smile at us and seemed to not want to be there. I got the eggs Benedict and he asked me how I wanted my eggs 🤨 I told him poached, stated on the menu and he still didn’t understand and ask if I wanted scrambled. Thank goodness it still came poached but servers may need better training.
Our dinner at Saba was really tasty, however, the chili oil that they use on their pizzas is not for everyone. My fiance and I ended up feeling a little unsettled after the heavy oil they topped it with. It made our pizza appear SO greasy, they even brought out extra to top it off. However, we went on a Wednesday where they have half-priced bottles of wine and reasonably priced appetizers. I wish we would have known about the oil on the pizza because we ended up tossing the leftovers. Would go back w/o ordering anything from that part of the menu!
This restaurant went from being a rising star in Logan Square, to a mere dimmer. We were there about 6 months ago and gave it all high marks. This week, I hosted a small business dinner at Saba becasue I thought it would be an excellent and safe option.....the dinner ended with me apologizing to my guests!
Our waiter never greeted us, nor had eye contact. When asking for a glass of wine, they were out of my guests first and second choice. He then asked for a cocktail, and they were out of a name brand.
The restaurant lights were on full and too bright. We started with a pizza and it was good. Our entrees were fair - 2 chicken, 1 fish, 1 risotto - all fair. Vegetables were watery, potatoes just boiled. The service was very slow, we actually thought they went to the grocery to buy our food - was more than 1 hour between pizza and entrees. I hope that Saba can learn from this experience. They really have lost their mojo, and I hope that some re-training, better food preparation and customer attention will make this place shine, again.
Great location and ambience - loud and lively. The home made pastas were delicious. Apps were good but nothing special - next time I would order pizzas as appetizers. Gelatos for dessert were very flavorful and went great with a cappuccino!
Our waiter acted as if e were invisible. The difference between the service he have us and the other tables round us was tricking. The roast chicken was rubbery and dry - I would have sent it back , but , could not seem to catch the Waiter’s eye. The starters and desserts were amazing. It definitely did not live up to what I had heard about it.
I live in New Orleans and mistook the Chicago app for NO
the staff was nice enough to seat us at a coffee table because
the restaurant was fully booked..
I will go again very soon
We love this restaurant. Always great food and wonderful service.
Food was good but service was unorganized and slow.
We couldn’t believe that just right across the street and surrounding brunch places had 2 hour waits and Saba got us seated right away. Glad the others turned us away because our experience at Saba was fantastic! You can tell the ingredients are actually FRESH and didn’t leave us feeling like crap for eating too much like most restaurant food. awesome food & great service! will be back when we visit next :)
This was my 4th or 5th visit and I always find it to be a great experience. From the food to the service team, it's always very good. Loved sitting by the open windows on a beautiful day!
Excellent service! Great drinks!
The food was delicious! Great portion sizes. The happy hour deal was great considering it was a Friday and most places don’t even offer HH on Friday/Saturday. Great service as well. Everyone was super attentive.
Saba is a five star experience with reasonable prices, Love this place..
Rude server, forgot our appetizer and took over 30 minutes to get it (bruschetta), did not bring a birthday dessert even tho requested and 3 tables surrounding us got a dessert with a candle. Have been here multiple times but this experience was not up to par.
Very cute place in the neighborhood. So many great selections on the menu that we had a hard time choosing! We'll definitely be back to try more. The Brussels sprouts in red wine reduction were a stand out, as was the calamari (although the side of red sauce didn't add much to the dish -- it stood up very well without the sauce). We both loved the Old Fashioned with the Saba-infused simple syrup (be sure to ask for an explanation for that!). Main courses were very good, but the gnocchi could have been a little less dense (cooked more?), although the arugula pesto was a treat.
Had a great night out with girlfriends. Perfect ambience for sharing some great food and wine together!
Lovely Place. Feels very fresh and light inside. Food was good, not phenomenal but I just had a breakfast sandwich, however the service was above and beyond. Would definitely return.
Great food and great wait staff
Excellent meal, service et al. It was louder than I expected or wanted though it was a saturday night so that's on me!
Great atmosphere. Lovely and friendly staff. Amazing food!
Went back to Saba for our fourth dinner with a group of friends and, once again, enjoyed it very much. All the appetizers we ordered were large enough to share and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and we were only disappointed we hadn't left room for dessert. Will definitely return.
The food and service was great. We will definitely be back!
Took my boyfriend there for his birthday and we had an awesome time! Food was delicious
One of all time favorites. The service here is wonderful and the food superb. We love this place!
Superb, I can't wait to go back! An inviting atmosphere, knowledgeable staff, fresh ingredients, delicious food and plenty of variety. Really terrific.
I loved Saba. I went to lunch with two of my girlfriends and we all have a differing palate but we found something we loved on the menu. The staff was super nice and accommodating. They even made dishes for us that wasn't on the current menu. I've gone there for date night with my husband and lunch with the girls and it's been a great experience each time.
The waiter basically ignored our table. We only got one refill of water and I was never offered another drink. I had to wait 10 minutes to even get his attention. I asked for the dessert menu and after waiting 15 minutes I decided to get up and get another person. I didn't even want dessert. i just asked for my check. They give no bread and all dishes come alone. Any sides are at extra cost.
We visited early on a weekend evening and it wasn't too busy at that hour. We really enjoyed our meal and would definitely return again. The Caesar Salad was especially tasty prepared with a whole leaves of romaine lettuce and delicious side items. I loved my filet with red wine reduction and side order of Brussel sprouts. Eggplant Parmesan was prepared differently than usual but better tasting. The old standby of spaghetti and meatballs was more than expected. The other salad that we ordered was much smaller than the Caesar Salad and covered in a little too much dressing. We had leftovers to take home and enjoyed them the follow day. We plan to return and would recommend Saba to our friends.
