Always fantastic fresh pasta. Lovely salads and desserts
Spasso is my local favorite Italian restaurant. Great menu. My favorite salad is the "warm cabbage salad." I introduce my friends to this salad every time if they haven't heard of it before. Always a great hit!
Sat outside. It was lovely
Service was quick and friendly. Food was adequately prepared and timely.
Delightful meal with outside dining in San Carlos.
18th birthday. We had a great time
Service was prompt and courteous. Many wonderful menu selections, had a hard time deciding what to order! Ended up ordering the Penne with Chicken and it was delicious. My friend had the Capellini with tomatoes and basil in marinara sauce. For dessert, we each had the Chocolate Lava Cake with Vanilla Bean Gelato...outstanding!! Will definitely return and also highly recommend to family and friends :-D
Very subpar service. We were seated at 5, and were one of only two parties at the restaurant. We were pressured to order our entrees with a minute of being handed the menu. We did, but still ended up waiting over an hour for our food. We had two young kids in our group, and such a wait was simply too much for them. A few of us ended up going outside to take a walk with them just to keep them clam after they had been sitting for 45 minutes.
The food was good. My paella was nice and flavorful. Everyone seemed to enjoy their meals. Not the best, but pretty good.
There are enough places with similar enough food in the area though. Don’t waste your money on such awful service.
As usual everything was perfect. They go above and beyond to make the experience perfect
Service was good, food was good - of course we’ll come back
Spasso is a little gem in the San Carlos area. We were a group of four and started the dinner with the mussels and clams appetizer which was cooked to perfection. We had to order additional bread to soak up the tasty sauce! My main was Saffron Pappardelle with plenty of prawns and the shrimp bisque sauce tied it all together. I also was fortunate to try the Paella which has a generous amount of seafood and was delicious. I recommend the Mango Panna Cotta to end the meal - it was refreshing and just the right amount of sweetness!
This is a great go to place. Doesn’t need to be a special event. Food consistently good.
Food and service were excellent. Noise level gets very loud after 7:30pm making it hard to have a conversation.
AlwAys consistent. Friendly, accommodating staff, tasty daily specials. Good selection of wines and reasonably priced. Happy to have Spasso in our neighborhood.
Prefer the outdoor tables of the weather is nice, because it's easier to have conversations with the lower noise level. There are overhead heaters that make it very comfortable even on chilly evenings.
I would return to eat the stuffed chicken breast that they had. Also, Sunday is free corkage and for seniors...that is a treat. They also make a mean martini! Staff is pleasant and dining room is nicety decorated.
Reasonably priced dinner menu with a decent wine list.
Good casual restaurant tat is always lively.
We had a very pleasant evening and meal. Our waitress was outstanding! She was very pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. We have eaten at Spasso several times and have never been disappointed.
Service was outstanding. Entrees nicely presented and all served hot.
I asked for the capellini to not have tomatoes, olive oil offered , it arrived at table dry. Did use the olive oil served with bread on it and it was delicious. Being inventive helped.
2nd time at Spasso recently. Food is excellent as well as service. Food is very authentic and they give you quite a bit too. Everything from Pasta to steak has been very good. We'll go back again soon.
I always order the Warm Napa Cabbage Salad at Spasso's. It never disappoints but yesterday it wasn't quite as good. There was too much bacon in the salad and not enough lettuce. I couldn't eat it all. But I will try it again because it's one of my favorites next to the chicken bolognese.
I’m not happy with our server. Barely came to our table and asked if we need anything. The mgr came basically asked us to leave because there’s people waiting for our table. So I told her etiquette reservations usually 1 1/2 hrs time. So we left.
Although we had a 6:00 pm reservation, we were not seated until 6:45 pm...it was Mother's Day and we were understanding to a point. Although midway through our wait, we were offered outside seating and chose to sit inside. So, you could surmise that the wait was not intolerable by more like less than satisfactory.
The other issue was the menu brought out was approximately 3-8$ higher depending on the entree than the posted online menu. Also, significantly fewer choices were offered than the regular menu. It gives me the impression that I would not book Spasso on Holidays, Mother's Day, Father's Day and so forth. Higher prices and limited choices are not a good combination.
Bread and dip, fried calamari, drink selections, entrees and one dessert were all very good but was tempered by the wait as well as the menu with inflated prices and a reduction of choices.
Great service .. some appetizers and entrees were a bit pricey
We had reservations. Spasso's jammed way too many tables in for Mother's Day. You couldn't get around. You had to turn sideways to walk to your table. I took my wife and her 96 year-old mom. We almost walked out when we saw how crowded it was. I suspect they were over the fire code limit. But, where else could we go on the spur of the moment without reservations? Food was so-so. Some was cold that should have been hot. Poor timing of getting hot food to table with cold orders. Wrong meal was delivered to one of us. We had to wait too long for requested items. Staff completely forgot one order. I won't go there again on a holiday. They try to accommodate more guests than they can, and it really shows.
Great restaurant, service and food wonderful. Only problem is if there happens to be a noisy group it’s hard to hear your dinner companions. I wish people at all restaurants didn’t treat the meal like they are in their own home .... oh well, still love the place
Food was unusual (without trying too hard and being weird) and very good. Lunchtime patronage was low, allowing for perfectly attentive service and unusually low noise level. We were allowed to linger at the table, which made the afternoon an extraordinary success for us.
Warm and friendly and we were not rushed even on. Friday Eve. Food was great and service was just right with attention
Good food, good value and nice service in neighborhood setting.
There was a big birthday party and they were really loud so we couldn’t talk. We left and had dessert and after dinner drinks somewhere else because of that party.
Loved the design. Love the food. Love the wine. Well lit beautiful atmosphere. We have been there twice and look forward to many more. Great for dates or family fun night
Everything was fine.
Was very busy....we waited 15 minutes for a table with a reservation... Hostess keep pushing a table outside on a cold rainy night. Has eaten here before but won't be back. Noisy, slow service......
As always the people are very friendly, warm environment ,food great
Excellent food, wait took longer than expected since it was Valentines Day.
Wonderful. We especially appreciated that host and server were happy and seemed to enjoy their side of the experience.
Valentine's evening with wife, rushed service turning tables, not peaceful, loud, but hey, it is an evening when lots of people want to go out. I can say that my fungi risotto was really good, hit the spot. I will go back once more for the standard menu.
