Governor's Pub and Eatery
Food was good. I wanted lobster but it came out chewy and a little tough so I sent it back and got the salmon minus the glaze. That was done very well. The veggies that came with it were a bit over done. Service was very good!
We arrived early but the staff was really accommodating. The food was excellent and it was a perfect end to our visit in Sydney.
Lives up to its reputation. Service and food was excellent. I had the seafood risotto, some of the best risotto I’ve ever had.
The food was delicious, as per usual! But we feel like our reservation was forgotten about as it took about 3-4 minutes to find us a table, and our server seemed to forget about us! But we’ll be back as the food can’t be beat!
Ordered the lobster sandwich. There was more red onion and lettuce than lobster, menu said lobster and mayo, no mention of red onion or lettuce, it wasn't chunks of lobster, minced, emailed Governor's but did not get a response back, very disappointing
Went on the recommendation of our BNB host. Made reservations on a Monday, glad we did; place was hopping. Naked oysters, mussels to start were fantastic! Followed by lobster risotto for me and lobster roll for my dinner date. Everything was great. Our server was so friendly and service was good. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Governors Pub.
My wife and I dined here while in Sydney. Although it was before the tourist season (May), the place was full on a Friday night. The noise level was high and there was live music on the second floor. Although the music sounded good we were glad to be seated on the first floor as it was really loud. The food was good and the waitress was extremely good. She appeared to be waiting on ten or a dozen tables including large groups yet the meal went smoothly. The food was good. The wine list very limited - a common problem we encountered in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Sydney has a very limited choice in restaurants and this is a good one.
Always wonderful experience. The staff and food are among my favourites
The food was amazing and the service was excellent
Service, food & atmosphere were all excellent. Great evening & looking forward to returning.
Food was great. Service was excellent.
Our waiter, Adam, was very helpful...funny.....making our experience a very nice one and the service was great. Like the atmosphere and the food was very tasty. Good value for my dollar.
I order the same dish every time, the lime-marinated tofu with coconut risotto.
Wine is fabulous.
And the wait staff are fabulous!!
The food was off this time no bacon on the potato skins, just cheese mostly, steak was over done, & we hardly seen our server to tell her until it was too late
Satisfactory meal, service was a little slow
Always a pleasure, great food and atmosphere!
My friend and I went in for a late lunch. Service was great and the food very tasty. Very nice atmosphere.
Best lopster id never eaten!! Good service and good place
As always, it was a great meal, with excellent service! It’s one of our favourite places in Sydney to dine!
They do not use open table and did not know about my reservation.
Great meal! Switched pasta sauces for us! Highly recommend!
It was incredibly busy, so service was a little slow, but as usual the food was great!
I had the lobster poutine, and it was over the top delicious comfort food! My waiter was very professional and entertaining!!
The service was excellent, but the food was just average. Great location very close to Sydney harbour with a great view of the harbour from the terrace.
This is my favourite spot in Sydney, excellent atmosphere, great service, food is delicious.
We had a great meal at Governors with our family, the food and service was excellent.
Don't let the exterior that makes it look like a solely "good times" tourist bar fool you. The food is top rate along with the service. We ate outside on a pleasant evening and stayed for after dinner drinks and dessert. The dish shown is flounder with light sauce.
Our lobster dinner came over an hour after ordering. To make up for it we did receive free dessert. Which we took but it was so late eating everything I felt gross all night.
Best fish and chips in Sydney
Not impressed.Mussels bland.Pasta dish so salty it was returned.Waiter kept forgetting things.staff friendly
David (waiter) was excellent!!! (As usual :)).
All best thanks alot perfect food and ambience
Good price for what we got
We enjoyed out meal right on the Esplanade in Sydney. The menu is mainly keyed for casual dining but of the few items for a full course both my wife and I found very good dishes. Her halibut was excellent and I enjoyed the chicken bacon, whatever The Keith's was cold and refreshing.
Wait staff person was excellent. She gave us a tip to put the restaurant's maple cream dressing (served with the salad) to put it on the halibut. Delicious.
Food was delicious and fast. Whole family enjoyed the experience. From my 9 year old to my 86 year old father in law.
Food was very good. Ambiance was great. Service - although fairly attentive was slow.
Halibut was very good/ nice presentation. Seafood sampler was also very good.
Wine list is somewhat limited but the choices were okay.
Would recommend to a friend.
Bruyant , mais bonne cuisine .
We popped in here for a dinner while in Sydney and found this to be a gem of a spot. The service was awesome, and we were able to find options for everyone in our group, including a vegan. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was great for chatting amongst our group. I would absolutely go back.
Excellent seafood dish. Loved the maple salmon and the maple dressing for salad- want the recipe!!!!
