First time visit. Outside dining due to the pandemic. The service was inconsistent only as they were a bit overwhelmed with patrons and the outside area was pretty spread out. The food was very good and it's clearly a very popular place. Would definitely recommend. We'll return when we are in the area again.
I normally totally enjoy Roberto's but not this visit. Lobster Pappardelle contained a minimal portion of lobster meat. Normally, it is much better.
The server was terrible. We had to flag her numerous times for additional drinks, check etc. My gratuity reflected this poor service and she loudly and sarcastically said " oh wow, thanks" when finalizing the transaction.
The greeting at the check in desk needs a LOT of work. Customers not acknowledged very quick and when you do, you are very evasive about your reservation. Busy place perhaps have a person just to check people in not has other tasks to complete. Same with service waitress serving too many tables therefore the service suffers. The food was very good but not worth the poor service.
Plus the parking situation was very stressful.
I would avoid this place during Covid. I do not have enough characters to type out all that went wrong during our dinner. Our server was so sweet and tried her best but it was a nightmare. They are understaffed and it shows. Many other places to choose from that would most likely be a better experience.
The food was fantastic, and the service was great
The food was fantastic. We had a 7 PM reservation outside and arrived at 6:55PM. We waited at our table for 35 minutes before a wait person arrived to take a drink order. Until then, we had been served water by a bus boy approximately 15-20 minutes in. When the waitress finally arrived to take a drink order, she asked if we knew what we’d like for dinner and we could place our order at the same time as drinks which we did. It was another 25 minutes before our first drink arrived. Dinner never arrived until at least another half hour later. We love having a leisurely dinner experience but, being ignored for more than a half hour and then waiting almost another half hour to be served a drink was not acceptable. We sat with empty glasses after our first cocktail, no dinner and a waitress that seemed to ignore us. At that point, I told my husband let’s just lay a hundred dollar bill on the table and leave and look for a place elsewhere to grab a sandwich. We stayed, ate our dinner and tipped our waitress 20%; although, I’ll be honest it wasn’t easy to leave her that much. The restaurant wasn’t overly busy and there were open tables around us as we dined. I thoroughly understand the times we find ourselves in but, that said this is summer in Maine on a Friday evening and if you are an “open” restaurant serving fewer than normal patrons because of social distancing I can’t find an excuse that would cause this much of a lack of customer service. There appeared to be 4 or 5 waitstaff tending to 14-15 tables; many that were just doubles. Too bad as the food was great but, the service was less than stellar and unfortunately that’s what we’ll remember.
Great service and Amazing food - we ordered the lobster risotto, lobster ravioli and chicken parm. All 3 dishes were delicious. We actually went back again that same week.
They wouldn’t serve pizza in fine dining but you could get fine dining menu in the pizzeria. Very confusing but we were ok with that. However the people next to us complained for their teen who insisted on pizza and got their way. Not a good policy. Also service was very disjointed even during pandemic times.
The service was not great and the food was not authentic Italian food. Overpriced. The restaurant is beautiful.
Slow service. Even though we had reservp, they were thrown by us actually turning up. After 10 minutes of discussion among themselves, they decided a table for 4 into 2 and spaces them a couple of feet apart - so much for social distancing. We had to move them further apart ourselves. Long wait for service, longer wait for food. My husband had veal, which was cut thick and overcooked, so rubbery. I had seafood risotta. Rice was mushy and oversalted.
Good food, slow service. Nice outdoor seating.
Great outdoor space with comfortable social distancing. The food was a little slow out of the kitchen but hot and delicious when it came. I would definitely return!
Very good. They were very busy on the Saturday we went, but we appreciated that they warned us before we sat down that there would be long wait times for the food. Apps came out quickly and the service was good. Outdoor ambiance is really nice, they have done a nice job making the tent and garden area a very pleasant and even romantic place to sit.
Took way to long to get our food and the waitress left us unattended for 30 mins.
Well organized for the pandemic. Sat inside but service was efficient and attentive. Food was good, not great, but for the price it was quite delicious. Portions oversized so a good value, had enough leftovers for another full meal the following day. Would recommend it for a competent and value dining experience.
Had to arm wrestle for my table even though we had a reservation
Had to tip the bus boy for a set of tableware
Food is good
Restaurant is mismanaged
After many year of wanting to try Roberto’s, we finally went on our last day of our family vacation. We checked in at 645 and were told our reservation for 7pm had been lost. After asking if the hostess wanted to take our information down, she finally added our names to her list. More and more families began to arrive and began being seated. After an hour of waiting we reminded the hostess that we were promised the next table she sat us at a table without any place settings.
After we were finally sat the waitress took our drink order and told us we had to order everything at the same time because the kitchen was closing. After 45 minutes, our apps finally arrived. And then our meal arrived around 9:45.
We ordered 2 chicken parms and an eggplant parm. And two pasta dishes. The eggplant I would not recommend to anyone at all. I have had better eggplant from Trader Joe’s. It was worse than a frozen dinner. It was cold and was not made fresh at all. I sent it back. The chicken parm was mediocre . And the pasta was not cooked well, my daughter who is a terrible cook could make better.
They may have been under staffed as they insisted they only had two people in the kitchen to serve a busy restaurant. But a three hour dinner was not worth the quality of food we were given.
I would not recommend this restaurant even to my worst enemy. The owner owned the street as she has implied to the officer who arrived upon multiple complaints from the neighbouring houses due to the lack of parking .
Maybe she better learn how to own a restaurant and make quality food for over priced crap.
We had reservations and had planned to eat outside, but there were no available tables. It took over 20 minutes to be seated (after our reservation time) because there seemed to only be one person seating people. We finally were given a table for two inside and it was a full 30 minutes before we even received a glass of water or were greeted (which only finally happened after going back to the hostess to ask if we even had a server assigned to us). It was very busy, so it seemed that they over booked reservations and I am not sure if they had walk-ins. We had a meal that did not include appetizers or desserts because of the wait and we were there for 2 full hours just for dinner. In that time we each had one glass of wine, we would have ordered a second had our waitress ever come back to check in on us. The food was the only good part of the entire experience and I would 100% NOT recommend going, at least on a weekend unless they improve the staffing.
Most horrible service in Maine we experienced so far. I would never go back to this place.
Our waitress was very efficient, but lacked congeniality. The food was great and the portions were plentiful. I would recommend this place for fine italian cuisine. Nice variety and selection.
Extensive menu, delicious food. Sat outside, road noise a bit loud, but still lovely.
We haven’t been back to Roberto’s in year’s and we completely enjoyed the whole atmosphere, service and delicious food. We’ll be back!!
We were so impressed with the atmosphere, the food and the service, we reserved a table for the following evening. Alex was our server and he was fantastic! I would highly recommend Roberto's. We will be back often.
The food was wonderful. The service was horrible. It took us 1 hour and 20 minutes to get our appetizer. Then another 45 minutes to get our food. Server had way too many tables and did not know how to manage them.
Overall, a very disappointing night. Be prepared to wait. It is very obvious that this restaurant is short staffed. Our waitress apologized many times because there was only one bartender working and that's why our drinks were taking so long. The food took just as long and when it came the waitress had messed up one of the orders. Our party ordered swordfish, seafood scampi, and veal saltimbocca. The food was just okay. My husband was extremely disappointed in his veal saltimbocca because it was covered in spinach. He orders this dish often in Italian restaurants and there is never any spinach in it, nor is there mention of spinach on the menu. We were never asked how our food was and didn't get a second round of drinks that was requested.
I have to say that the food was delicious! Great quality and value. However it took an hour to get our first salad appetizer and than another half hour after to receive our next two appetizers. We were told there were issues with the oven but don’t think there was enough done to keep us informed.
Another great meal at Roberto's! We both got the braised short ribs and risotto, OMG; it was amazing! Had the meatballs for the appetizer. What made the night even better was our wait person, Jen! She was so accommodating, prompt, and just a joy to have as part of our evening!
Kathy and here staff do a great job! One of my favorite go to place on Ogunquit Maine.
Two had shrimp scampi. Very blend. For the money.
The waitstaff were clearly overwhelmed and frazzled as well as the hostess. Multiple parties with reservations were told there were no tables. Service was incredibly slow and my food came out cold
Seems as though OpenTable allowed far too many bookings for the number of actual tables and patrons and I saw no social distancing whatsoever. The bar was crowded , the hostess area was crowded and although people had masks on while waiting they did not while eating and drinking.
I recently dined at Roberto's twice within 2 weeks. Both times I ordered the Pineapple Tini, Caesar Salad, Grilled Asparagus appetizer, and the Baked Zucchini entree. My entire dinner party LOVED their food. We sat outside due to COVID, but I believe they were offering limited seating inside as well. For outside dining, they have a tent set up in front of the restaurant entrance in an area that's typically used for parking. The service wasn't bad, but not outstanding either... our waitress didn't have much of a personality, simply wrote down our order and that was it. She didn't check up on us throughout our meal either. We ended up with the same server during both of our visits. There was a mistake with one of the orders, but we didn't complain about it as the meal still tasted delicious!
Great food, great atmosphere and great overall dining experience.
Seafood Fra Diavlo and Veal Parmigiano were delicious! Tiramisu is homemade and delectable. Enjoy my pineapple martini. Highly recommend
Very slow service. Not servers fault.
Highly recommend Roberto’s ! Delicious food and drinks . Relaxed atmosphere . The service was outstanding !!
Had reservation for 8:30. Wasn’t seated until 9:00. Had a chicken dish. The chicken was very tough
Wonderful first time at Roberto’s. Lovely waitress, Lady. Attentive bus staff. Delicious food. Beautiful grounds.
Excellent lobster bisque, garlic bread and beef short ribs with risotto!!
Great food . We dined outside . Wonderful experience .
Absolutely terrible service and food was so bad we couldn’t even eat some of it. I usually don’t give bad reviews but our experience here was so bad.
