Rustic Stone by Dylan McGrath
meat was more meat than fat.
fennel was cold.
only the fries and cauliflower were tasty. Very disappointed.
Food and Service was excellent. Only thing was the portion size for a side was small.
The restaurant and concept are fabulous, however the table was not good for 5 as 1 had to sit opposite an empty place, the tables were far too small for the concept and we were in the restaurant entrance level and felt like we were sitting in a corridor with serving staff and guest pushing past both sides (I was actually bashed into by your front of house!) - it was not a comfortable experience! There was also a draught coni BHF from front door. The wine we chose wasn’t available, we were offered a more expensive one over the wine menu! And we think the cuts of beef were over sold when we had already decided what we wanted - we do not then want to be sold a piece of meat for 100 euro!
Generally the service was ok and the food was good and they did remember it was a birthday with a nice birthday surprise brownie.
Wonderful value and great food. Lively buzzy atmosphere. Lovely professional friendly staff
Lovely food. Very little ambiance! No music and seemed very quiet for a Friday evening.
Absolutely fantastic meal finished off with a lovely evening over cocktails on the Bonsai Bar. Superb!
A very mixed impression. The reserved table was not ready on time. Then the "go to the bar for ten minutes" turned into more tha half an hour. And the bar staff was not capable of producing and serving 3 drinks in those 30 minutes. The highlight was beeing placed at the crappiest table ever seen in a resturant, after this waiting period. The great food almost made up for this sh.., almost...
Great food , great service and amazing cocktails
I would not go to this restaurant again. Food isn't special but overpriced and service doesn't match the price tag. Cocktails from Bonsai bar are quite good though.
The food menu presentation is OK but the entire menu feels very thrown together without any thought behind it.
Tables available on ground level but we were bright downstairs. Tables free downstairs but we were seated between two couples and could literally touch their tables ? We asked to move and were told booths looked bigger than they actually were. We had no choice but to move. Ridiculously close to other tables. Booths were small. Wasn’t asked how we would like our burgers cooked ? Came out raw. Had to return. Overall bad experience. Won’t be back. I wouldn’t have bothered to complain but you have sent me this email. Ground floor was hopping. Downstairs felt like you were in a dungeon. Terrible atmosphere.
We booked for group night out and must say that everyone was very happy at the end of the evening. Food was great and also the service. Very happy with the staff from the moment we arrived. Definitely recommended!
We loved the food and service but even though we’d mentioned in the booking that we’re celebrating a birthday no one came over to wish or offer a small sweet treat or something.
Four friends dining and selected this restaurant based on extensive menu and some Yelp! reviews. Two of us very pleased and two disappointed. We were seated and hostess delivered menus. Server distributed water and returns five minutes later and asks “ready to order”? Um, no.....how about drinks? Wine delivered and we ordered a few minutes later. We ordered Mustard Salad (good), raw fish plate (good), and two minestrone (ok). Entrees were delivered; three burgers (two traditional and one with some special add-on items). Two traditional were cool and buns stale. Special burger very good. Halibut to the final diner and it was very good). So, service was clumsy, some food good other not so much. Probably won’t return.
The experience was not expected especially being a chef Dylan McGrath signature restaurant.
Nice restaurant but when going on a voucher deal the choice is minimal. Lacks atmosphere.
Celebrated our 1st year anniversary last night, I was hoping to have Picanha, unfortunately due to a busy weekend they were sold out. On the other hand, what my wife and myself had was delicious and worth another trip back to Rustic
Waited a very long time to get one drink out of two. Waiters seemed uninterested in service. Bread in starter was stale. Main courses were very good.
Rustic Stone is a firm favourite.
I noticed people playing videos on their phone at the table next to me, and another person at a different table was making a FaceTime call. I found this really disruptive to my meal and wondered if you might consider having a phone policy whereby people are requested not to do this? It shouldn’t be necessary but some people appear to be oblivious.
The idea of cooking your on food is fine. But for the price your better off going to a fine restaurant and having your food cooked for you. Trying it once is enough.
First of all our server was rude and made us feel rushed and like we were an inconvenience to her. For starter we ordered the chicken wings and they were very tasty! They were crispy and in a rich soy sauce. I got the breads and dips which was fine.We ordered the rump and the steak for our main course. The rump was very fatty and I could barely cut through it. It was chewy and difficult to cook on the stone. I would recommend giving people the option to have their meat cooked in the kitchen as although the stone is a fun novelty , a lot of people would rather have their dinner cooked properly for them. The side dishes were below average and for desert I got the chocolate soup which was really lovely. My boyfriend got the fruit desert which was literally shavings of pineapple and a few pieces of banana on a tiny plate with banana ice cream and sprinkled with rosemary ?!?! The rosemary did not complement the fruit at all and we had to try work around it. However, the banana ice cream was delicious and I ate it with my chocolate soup desert. We got the 80 euro taste.ie deal so for three courses and wine so it was great value but I wouldn't pay full price here and unfortunately won't be recommending it to friends. Overall I am disappointed as I had read good reviews and there is a hype around Dylan Mc Grath's food but it was so below average and a bit of a let down.
I have always had a great experience in this restaurant and would recommend it unhesitatingly.
the food is just wonderful; the staff are friendly and really helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
many thanks to all - I will be back
I brought my boyfriend to rustic stone for a birthday meal on Saturday. Rustic stone had been highly recommended and was a restaurant that we were really looking forward to going to.
Our evening started lovely in the Bonsai bar with a cocktail, when we went to the restaurant, service was initially bad, after 15 minutes I had to call a waiter to ask for a menu.
I also felt rushed at the end of the meal and we were not asked if we wanted dessert or tea and coffee.
Food and service were amazing. The only issue was the smell from the kitchen. Ventilation was not good and as a result you and all your clothes stink afterwards.
Went here for a work lunch with a group. The food was lovely and everyone enjoyed it. The express lunch option was also really good value, especially considering the high-quality of the food. The service was friendly but not at the same standard as the food - couple of mistakes with the orders (fixed very quickly though) and a bit blunt. Overall, I would definitely return again.
Food was literally horrible for the price, we had to keep calling our server over to get their attention, they wouldn’t check up on us ever. No matter what reviews this place gets its horrible, skip it all together.
Went to Rustic Stone for our 10th Anniversary dinner and we absolutely loved it. Great atmosphere, amazing food and our server Efti just topped it off - the best service I have received in a restaurant in a long time. I would definitely go back. Highly recommended.
Excellent food. Service very chaotic and not professional - serving staff running around, arguing with each other and getting orders incorrect. We had orders arriving at our table that we had not ordered. A good evening adversely affected by very poor quality table service.
Really good food and great service, although the wine was a bit pricey.
I have been here a number if times. Love the restaurant, food and staff
Delicious food as always.
Lovely atmosphere and decor.
Staff were friendly and professional.
Would 100% recommend.
For our party of 10, the setting was excellent, the lighting gave a warm ambiance, the food courses delectable, wine selection (with assistance from sommelier) was terrific, and the service impeccable. Highly recommended!
Great venue for Sunday lunch with friends.
Menu choices just the right mix, our table of four and each dish was fantastic. Fennel and Raspberry ice cream- genius.
We will be back.
What an amazing experience, I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday and I am so glad I found this gem in Dublin. The service was amazing and the food was to die for! 10/10 would book and come again!
Food very tasty. Baby spuds were undercooked and were removed from the bill. Would have liked a bigger rib eye for the price we paid but was good.
The waiter we had was excellent. Overall enjoyed it.
Nice building and atmosphere . Party of 3 . Food for two was decent and one poor.compensated for with a bill reduction to be fair.
Started with a waiter who when asked for a 20 minute pause between courses to avoid being rushed said he would agree to 15 ! Why do it ?
Starters were fine . Fillet steak for main was small and full of gristle . New potatoes over salty . Cauliflower over cooked ie brown rather than crunchy and turned up at the end of the service.
Overall 200 euro plus for a meal that would have cost 50 at home . Based on this experience stay at home and cook it yourself .
My friend and I had a voucher to use on Wednesday night, the value and quality of the offer was fantastic. The level of service was exceptional with exceptionally friendly and professional staff, I would certainly recommend Rustic Stone and can’t wait for my next visit.
Fantastic meal. Highly recommend! In Dublin for a very short trip and this was an excellent choice for dinner.
Really poor service and meh food you have to cook yourself.
Rolls royce of sirlion - 1/5 was just fat.
The glamburger i asked for medium, the waiter didnt want me to have medium & came out rare.
Service was shocking, staff literally running round.
"Chips with burger, 4 chips - actually just 4 chips for a £18.50 meal - disgusting.
We had an enjoyable meal at Rustic Stone - both our lamb and beef pasta mains were delicious. Unfortunately, my husband had the salt cod brandade to start and although it looks impressive, he was disappointed that the cod wrapped in ham was fried, as it did not say this on the menu. I had the mushroom side as a starter, which I thoroughly enjoyed. We're not steak lovers but the ones we saw around us were huge.
I have given it three stars for value because of the huge mark up on wine. We ordered a €40 bottle of Graffigna which we buy for £9 and would expect to pay €26-30!
Lovely service and robust options for those with dietary restrictions. Anyone currently on a paleo, Whole 30 or Keto diet can dine here comfortably. Loved it and will definitely be back.
