Over ten years ago Sargasso started a food revolution in Morgantown, bringing fine dining to a city that had previously not seen anything like it. Locally owned and operated, we strive to provide the premiere dining experience in the region by utilizing ingredients of the highest quality from local to international with each season. Our culinary team is led by a duo of experienced chefs -European-trained Austrian native Chef Thomas Metzler and local talent Chef Dave Halterman, who has been cooking in the Morgantown community for over ten years. We are honored by Wine Spectator for having one of the most outstanding wine lists in the world. The Sargasso family takes great pride in offering our guests world-class service in a hospitable and inviting atmosphere.

    Took my mother and family there for their Thanksgiving buffet. As buffets go, this one was well above average - the food was hot, fresh, and very delicious. Nice mix of sides and deserts.

    We’ve eaten there many times and we’re disappointed in the food. Waiter was exceptional. Salad and dessert were good. Vienerschnitzel was salty and dry. Salmon dinner rice dish was not good. Salmon was very badly seasoned and cooked.

    We were especially impressed with the potato and mushroom soup and the fish entrees. The wait time for our food was much longer than expected which was a bit surprising because the restaurant was not crowded. We waited 25 minutes for dessert.

    Our visit to Sargasso was exemplary. Nice ambience, excellent waiter and friendly staff. The food was prepared well and presented well. Everything we ordered tasted great. The calamari and wedge salad were the best! Will definitely be back and will be sure to recommend.

    We live about an hour away and drove to Sargasso to meet friends from Morgantown. The food was great, I had the pork chop and my wife had the crab cakes. We also had some charcutier and cheese boards for appetizers. There was 7 of us and we also enjoyed some very good red wine. Along those lines, they had a very nice wine selection to choose from. Our waiter, Jack, did a fantastic job. He was very attentive and despite having a rambunctious group, he didn't make a single mistake. Definitely recommend.

    This was our "Farewell Sargasso" dinner, as our travel plans have changed. For over a dozen years, we have dined with Sargasso on our way home from our vacation in Western Pennsylvania. From the first, we found the food, service, and ambiance at Sargasso to be wonderful and the staff to be delightful. Should our plans change and bring us to Morgantown again, we will certainly be returning, for a meal at Sargasso is not to be missed. Everything on the menu is good, the portions generous, and the prices fair for what you get. (Do not, however, expect to dine cheaply.)

    Time for more updates to the menu and do t sell yourselves short with low cost labor. The server was a rather clueless young lady. Reading specials for the day was sad, least they could do is memorize just two specials.

    I would highly recommend this establishment. We loved the salmon soup the cauliflower app, the Calamari app and the mushroom spaghetti. They were all fantastic and not just your regular fare. They all were a bit different in a very gourmet pleasing way.

    The food and drinks were amazing as usual. Service was a little slow. I think there may have only been one waitress working. My only actual complaint is that the tables are ALWAYS sticky. Anything that touches the tabletop sticks to it hard. Glasses, silverware, menus. Otherwise, we LOVE Sargasso.

    This was a very exceptional evening. Outstanding wine selections and what a variety of food selection. The calamari appetizer was amazing with almost no breading on it. Salmon was outstanding as was the filet mignon and Wiener schnitzel. The waiter was so friendly, helpful and professional.

    We went there to celebrate our son's graduation and the food was excellent. The salmon, pear salad, chicken, veal, and all the other items (party of 7) were wonderful. A great place to eat.

    We love coming to Sargasso for both lunch and dinner. Dinner items a bit pricy, but fair. One of the main things that sets you apart from similar restaurants is food quality. While we found this to again be the case, the exception was the bread which was sadly dry. Such a small thing but noticeable as we had out of town guests who loved the experience, but also commented on the bread. No worries, just constructive feedback to make you the best...we will continue to frequent for lunch, dinner, drinks...great place!

    Due to a lack of higher end restaurants in Morgantown, I dine and entertain at Sargasso a couple times per month. I am so tired of the menu and desserts, even the ambiance is getting old. Nothing has changed about Sargasso in years and if there were other options in Morgantown, I would eagerly take advantage of them. Shake it up Sargasso!!

    The food was amazing. I think half the time the waitress forgot we were there. It took forever for everything. She asked if we wanted dessert menus, we said yes, but then waited almost 15 minutes for her to come back with dessert menus. It was not busy enough to account for the lag in everything. She walked away while I was asking a question. The food was amazing, I will go again. But next time I will be prepared for the loooong waitress wait.

    Overall we were pleased with the dining experience at Sargasso’s. The quality and presentation of the food was good and the portions a good size. I did feel we were rushed a bit during the meal, with dishes attempted to be removed while we were still eating.
