The service was great, but we did have to wait quite a while in between dinner and dessert, and the again for the bill. About 15 minutes each time. The food was good, and the atmosphere was incredible.
Good service with decent food, would not go again but still a solid high class restaurant.
Great service, food was excellent- kudos on the duck pate and wild boar (done to perfection)
Great place to have a good conversation while dining on fantastic food. Always an enjoyable experience. I will return soon!!
Wonderful dinner at Sassafraz. Halibut was perfectly cooked. Service was exceptional.
Went there for brunch. Everything was outstanding.
Context: Went for an anniversary celebration with my significant other.
Food and value: Fairly priced for good-quality food. We had the 10oz steak and halibut, paired with the Shiraz and New Zealand Sauv Blanc. Up to expectations from such an establishment.
Service: Good at the beginning. Our server was Austin, who was professional and even helped us to take pictures. As the restaurant got busier, Austin was less attentive. We waited 15+ minutes for a dessert menu after entrees, and 30+ minutes for the bill after dessert (at 25 minutes, I went to go ask the hostess whether we pay at the front or at the table, as I was so incredulous as to the delay). Maybe the attention shift was because of a perception that we would not tip as well as the other tables; if so, I was prepared to tip 20%+ that day, but tipped much less due to the inattentiveness at the end.
Atmosphere: Upscale and relaxing. Suitable for romantic dates and group dinners of a more classy nature.
Overall: Good experience with some inattentive service at the end.
Was great for a business meal!
I always enjoy coming here. Very good service and food.
The food and service were amazing. Would definitely go back and recommend anyone to go!!
I had the baby kale salad - very good; as a main I had he Harrison Co-op chicken supreme - the chicken was so moist and juicy - would highly recommend.
I wish I could remember the name of the waitress - she was amazing.
usually good however brunch French toast were soggy, not very appealing
Wonderful place for a romantic, business, or family meal
Wonderful dinner New Years Eve! Service was top notch and food was delicious
Oysters, Halibut and French Fries were so delicious! And the wine selection is great
Our New Year's eve dinner experience was a classy affair and so much fun; the dining room is spacious and elegant; the jazz band was fabulous; the waiters were patient and attentive; the food was delicious. The lamb ragout was divine!
We went on New Years Eve! The food never fails and service was pretty good. Only issue was the music during the bands intermission. It was awful. The sound from the speaker was tinney and irritating! Who ever put the playlist together does not know Music. Very bad choices. I would not go back on New Year Eve, however any other time I would as I live near by and the food is usually good.
New Year’s eve
Beautiful restaurant. Staff were very friendly and service was exceptional. Everything we ordered were delicious. Steak was cooked perfectly.
Good food. Portion size and quality good. Halibut was great. Service was slow. Prosecco was warm and not better when asked to chill.
We had the most lovely dinner. The cocktails, appetizers and main course were all perfection. The restaurant is just perfect
Great staff, ambiance but perhaps more snacks options with drinks and gluten-free bread would have been more world-class - this is often now standard at luxury restaurants elsewhere nowadays. So that was a bit disappointing.
Onion soup was delicious.
Nice atmosphere. Food completely below expectations - both in terms of choices and taste. Basically a fast food restaurant that wants to be something else - it isnt! Waitress was nice but lacked knowledge about the dishes and hardly attended the table - had to wait quite a while each time.
Our server wasn’t good, took a long time to get our coffees seemed like she forgot about us
Really good stuff. Great atmosphere and food.
We were three for lunch . I reserved a front table because it was good for conversation last time but very noisy this time perhaps it was because of the Christmas season. Overall the experience was good though . The quality of the food was good as was the service. We will return for special occasions.
Brunch was very enjoyable. I would recommend to anyone looking for quality food and excellent service. Beautiful restaurant.
Excellent time at Sassafraz on Sunday night. Very good service - knew when to leave us alone, but also when we needed service. Food was terrific. Cant wait to go back.
Great food and excellent service. Had a very memorable evening so much that we stayed back in the lounge for some after-dinner drinks. Keep up the good work!
My husband and I went for his birthday. The atmosphere was perfect, the service was okay. We waited about 15 minutes to get asked what we wanted to drink or eat (other than water). We found our server wasn’t available, nor did we know her name. However, it was probably because not enough people were working and it was busy. I’ve been vegetarian for 8 years however began eating meat while feeding my baby and I asked for medium steak and got rare ($37 steak) which is too much for me at the moment. I had to give it to my husband to eat. Didn’t want it reheated. Just expected the steak cooked correctly or at least close to. Everything else did taste amazing and will probably be back again.
Wonderful saturday lunch. Excellent food and service- great ambiance!
Chose Sassafraz for a team Christmas lunch. Excellent food and service. Very pleased.
Our server was personable and informed. She helped us to make our food choices. The fish tacos featured ahi tuna and were delicious. Although there were attentive staff around no one ever touched a plate or fork until everyone at the table was finished each course. Much appreciated.
The room was elegant and the service never rushed even though it's a busy time of year. Five stars.
Always have a great time when I come here. They have a fantastic brunch and their french onion soup is one of my favourites in the city! The space is absolutely beautiful and perfect for special occasions.
My mom and I went on a much needed girls weekend and chose Sassafraz for dinner. We were not disappointed! The food and drink were amazing and the ambience was nothing but inviting. We will be back!
We were not disappointed. A very busy Saturday afternoon brunch in a bustling trendy place for brunch. We arrived before our reservation but we were promtly seated. We were able to talk without the interruption from surrounding noise, which was wonderful. The service was prompt but unhurried. Food was very good, we enjoyed everything.
We felt the menu was restricted for main courses. There was definitely more variety on the appetizer side. Lamb ragout although delicious would have benefitted from an actual bite or two of meat and the portion could have been a bit more generous. The boar chop was delicious but arrived on a unheard plate.
Service was excellent and we appreciated the coat check.
I wish I remembered our servers name because he was pretty amazing! We never felt rushed or interrupted.
He was available every time we needed him like as if he had a 6th sense and discreet when we didn’t .
As always a great evening at Sassafraz!
We had a great time at sassafraz on Friday November 22nd 2019
