The Gau Choy Gow app and Carmelized Wild Shrimp entrée were excellent! The Cellophane Noodles were very skimpy with the Dungeness Crab meat. Indifferent is the best way to describe the service.
I have already recommended this restaurant!
The food was delicious and we were very happy with our table seating.
I would have said the service was okay a little slow and put it down to a busy night
-until a group of 4 sat next to us ..... maybe regulars? They got a lot of attention-food and drinks came fast 😏Our waiter was friendly and helpful when he did come to our table. The acoustics made for a very loud noise level but will definitely be back.
I had been given a gift certificate to the slanted door and invited a friend to come along. We had early reservations, so came early and had a drink in the bar before before the restaurant opened. The waiter in the bar was great and the watermelon basil drinks were delicious. We were seated quickly, our food came quickly, And it was savory, spicy, tangy and everything you wanted on small plates. I especially liked the cabbage and grapefruit salad, the bok choy and mushrooms, and the rice cakes were very flavorful. We have course ordered too much food, took it home, and had it for breakfast. Still delicious!
Insanely loud. Inept service. Very good food
Very friendly service with a nice environment and good food. Nice view of the Bay Bridge too.
I am a regular diner - continues to meet expectations!
The restaurant is beautiful, the bar is so inviting! Appetizers were incredible, service as well, but the main dishes were bland and tasteless. (The caramelized shrimp and the sautéed squid). Extremely expensive for what you get.
Staff was amazingly accommodating despite the place being si crowded. Food was excellent
Amazing food, quality service, and great vibe. Everyone that worked there was so great.
Great tasting menu. The mango cotton candy was a fun and tasty dessert!
We were very excited to try this restaurant on our trip to SF. We had a party of 9 so had to order from a set menu, 3 appetizers and 3 main entrees. It was a bust! Food was poorly executed and salty. For example, we ordered the grapefruit and jicama salad. There was about 3-4 slivers of grapefruits and jicama. The rest of the salad was cabbage. It was average tasting. May be it should have been renamed cabbage salad. The pork spareribs hardly had any meat on it and was salty. One of the people in our party said it was not worth the effort of having to use your hands to eat it. The shaken beef was poorly executed. We were given complimentary desserts at the end. It was churros and cotton candy??? Was not worth the price tag of $77+/ person. The best dish was the ahi tuna that we had ordered extra for $22. Will not return.
Would dine again !
We had the prefix menu and was great.
Our relative was in town so we had to dine here! Such great service and food! I requested the booth and got it! Never disappointed with our dining experience at the Slanted Door! Bravo!!
We unfortunately encounter very rude staff from the checkin to the bar. There was a lot of confusion as well as people waited for their tables. Food was the saving grace.
I’d always go there again!
Hostess and manager are very discourteous. A group of friends wanted to join us and made a separate reservation. We saw 2 side by side tables open and requested to be seated next to each other, they but they declined with a stupid reason of "it's not our policy"! REALLY????. Never ever coming here again. Plenty of other great food in the city.
We've been coming to the Slated Door for many years now, they have amazing food & service.
We had a wonderful meal on a beautiful Saturday afternoon in San Francisco. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Great for people watching and enjoying the blue angels!
Great restaurant with a unique menu of Asian/Fusion choices. The setting is right on the water in the Ferry Building so it can get crowded. They have outside seating but the restaurant itself is surrounded by windows so it's nice and bright inside. The caramelized wild gulf shrimp was excellent. You really got a big serving of shrimp. The spring rolls were really good too. All the food that passed us looked delicious. I think I would definitely try the spare rib appetizer and clay pot chicken next time. The service was outstanding too. Ginger was very helpful with the menu and super attentive.
Waitress was great recommending meal course options. Friendly, fast, effective!
We had a great experience. Our server was particularly good - helpful, attentive, pleasant and cared about what we ordered (right amount, right combo and whether it delivered for us!) . We were outside on a warm day and it was just a great SF experience!
This is my absolute favorite restaurant. They do everything right.
I hate how they cram so many tables in. Also the food wasn’t as good as I remembered. Seems to have dropped down a notch in terms of quality. It’s also really pricey for what you get. Still the location is awesome and the service was excellent
The variety on the menu was special. We were greeted by Felix and felt welcomed and appreciated. The four of us shared two appetizers and four main dishes. Serving family style allowed all of us to enjoy an adequate portion of all plate, and enjoy we did. Felix surprised us with two scrumptious desserts and we were far from disappointed. Overall we had a fantastic meal and evening.
Service and staff was exceptional without being silly or over the top. Food was amazing. Great cocktails. Happy this place has endured so long; it's an essential piece of San Francisco in my mind.
It’s hit or miss at the Slanted Door… the spring rolls were perfect, but the vegetarian bean noodles were (unexpectedly) so spicy that I could barely eat them. My companion generally liked her food, but we had to literally shout across the table at each other, in order to be heard. This restaurant has become extremely popular, most likely because of its location; be advised: it’s super busy and super noisy.
Outstanding food, service and ambiance!
Food was delicious and the service was attentive and very helpful. The only deterrent that kept our experience from being positively memorable was the noise level. Our reservations were at 7:00 pm on a Monday evening. This was the only restaurant where I had to shout above the din to ask about menu questions. Conversations across the table were nonexistent. Loved the location-loved the menu- loved the decor. Not so much for the acoustics or lack thereof.
A very nice lunch on the patio. Excellent service from Ginger who guided me through the menu.
The spring rolls were terrific and the grilled shrimp vermicelli was great. I left very happy.
The view of the bay from the ferry market building paired with the superbly fresh ingredients and flavorful options made for a wonderful dining experience. Our server was extremely helpful in suggesting the Vietnamese crepes and cellophane noodles with crabs; we enjoyed the shrimp spring rolls for its fresh taste. My dining companion selected the chrysanthemum herbal tea and I chose the Jasmine artisanal tea for a refreshing beverage.
Excellent food, decent service, not crazy expensive but not low cost either. Will probably consider going back when back in SFO
Visiting son in San Francisco and celebrating his promotion.
A beautiful view of the Bay Bridge makes this dining experience special. The food was well prepared but very costly. Even the bathroom attendant had his hand out.
Our celebratory meal for a family birthday was just spectacular! We ordered a large variety of items to share and each one drew raves. The service was warm and professional. The atmosphere is lively and the view if the bay bridge lit up at night is delightful!
All in all a memorable meal! Most highly recommended!
Great service! Delicious! Great views!
Came here with my family for 25th birthday. Food was amazing. Service was great. Ambience is perfect. Some may think it's a bit overpriced, but when you appreciate the location of the restaurant and quality of the food, you'll realize it is not overpriced at all. I gave service 4/5 because an appetizer we ordered was never brought to the table, but we were so full by the end of the night we didn't mind much. They happily removed it from the bill and gave us a complimentary ice cream scoop. Would love to return again!
This was my second experience at the Slanted Door & it was excellent, always delicious. I think it’s a little pricey for Vietnamese food, having grown up in the southern hemisphere and being familiar with this cuisine I feel it is overpriced. But it shouldn’t stop anyone from dining at the slanted door the ambience and the view if the bay bridge is spectacular & makes it worth it. Overall a great experience.
Excellent. We’ll be back
The food and atmosphere was great. A definite do over if here again!
