I came to have a pre-concert dinner with a friend. Even though my friend was running late, they treated me wArmly and seated me right away. The food was familiar and fresh. The chicken kebabs were well-seasoned, tender and juicy! Which is often difficult with chicken breast meat. The tab cam to $33 per person and I was happy with the service! A return trip is coming with friends!!!
I have had many good experiences at SOMA. Friday night was not one of them. The TGIF crowd at the bar basically made conditions almost unbearable at the dining tables.
Pizza is just like Italy’s! Loved it! And best tiramisu I’ve ever had!
I genuinely enjoyed the salmon for dinner. However, while other reviews stated the noise was moderate, my dinner companion and I had trouble hearing each other from across the table. The noise level might not prevent me from returning but it will definitely impact the type of outing.
fair and ok
We went to the SOMA after a matinee at the Golden Gate theatre. I wasn’t too impressed with the ambiance as it was just a bunch of wood tables. They weren’t quite open when we arrived so it did take awhile to get drinks as the bar area was open. Once the restaurant was open, everything clicked. The service was great and the food was very good. It’s good to know a place close to theGolden Gate theatre
Soma was just what we were looking for in good food and great service. We had the New York Strip and Braise short ribs. Cooked perfectly and tasted great, Our server Beyza was very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend enjoying a dinner here
Restaurant forgot to check us in so had to send copy of receipt to prove didn’t *no show *. Place was empty because a little early for reservation. They almost forgot to give us napkins and silverware. Food was okay but skimpy on fries. Fries were crispy and hot though. Waitress was nice but took awhile to get even refill on water. So many great places to eat in city. Will not be back here.
Met a friend to catch up for lunch, I ordered the mushroom pizza and she the beet salad and we
shared. Pizza was really good. Salad was pretty good too.
Service was leisurely and that was a plus since we had a lot to discuss.
Good location and neither crowded nor noisy.
Check it out.
I went here for my fiance's birthday with a party of 18. The service was incredible and the food was delicious – highly recommend the wings and pizzas. The staff was so nice and it had a great vibe. So thankful I found this place!
Good place if you want a quick meal. Service was excellent and food was good.
Good food. Was able to be seated as soon as I walked in.
Soup and lamb main course were outstanding and service excellent
It was not very great over all and at the price point it was a bad experience.
Reservation honored with no wait, which was a nice start. At 5pm, service was attentive and brisk. Noise level rose steadily until by 6pm we couldn't hear each other across the table due to voices (there's also music playing). Would be impossible for people with hearing aids. Salmon and short ribs were quite good. We'd return.
Long wait, mediocre food.
To be fair, it was during a major conference in SF and most places were packed
Service was excellent and food was outstanding. Reasonable price. Highly recommend
For a table of 10, service was slightly slow. Otherwise we had a great time here!
We were there for Valentines Day. Lively crowd, terrific food. The owner, Kazim, was very gracious ans attentive. We will return again and recommend SOMA highly. Dr. R
It was food and that’s about all I can say about it. It was neither fantastic nor was it terrible. The service was not too awesome though.
Food was wonderful. Very cozy with a wonderful cocktail bar.
This was our 2nd visit to SOMA Restaurant. I was impressed by our 1st visit for the food and service at this restaurant that offers a mixture of Middle Eastern and Italian items, but I was less bowled over the 2nd time around.
We shared a Middle Eastern appetizer assortment (see photo). It was very good but contained nothing special to distinguish it from similar plates at other Mediterranean restaurants. My friend thought that his chicken piccata was excellent. I sampled it and agreed. I ordered the cheese ravioli. Even with a sprinkle of Parmesan on top, I found the pasta dish to be rather bland. For dessert, we ordered cheesecake. Instead, they brought out a chocolate cake, which looked yummy, but we sent it back as it was not what we had ordered.
SOMA has several local beers on tap, and I ordered one of those – quite nice. Service at SOMA was average but I’d ding it for initially bringing the wrong dessert.
Service was ok, nothing special. Food on the otherhand was bland, over cooked, and tough to eat. The Calimari was like eating rubber, the steak was over cooked and bland, even the pizza had no flavor.
The ambience was very loud and annoying. We had to yell and still had a hard time hearing each other.
Great food with excellent service.
Great service ! Friendly, food was average with middle eastern bent
I was less than thrilled with this restaurant. I ordered the short rib hash for breakfast. Overall, the dish was satisfactory in terms of flavor and portion size, but the pieces of short rib meat were dry and hard. The ambiance and service were OK. An alright place to grab a bite if you if you are in the area, but you could do better.
food was mediocre unfortunately
They have an eclectic menu with kabobs and Italian dishes, with short ribs and a NY steak thrown in. We both started with their Kentucky Buck cocktail, a delicious take a Moscow Mule, with excellent boubon instead of vodka. I had a kabob which was tasty, my date enjoyed the short ribs. The service was a bit more informal (maybe family members rather than professional waitstaff) but attentive enough. We got there a bit early on a Saturday (to make a showtime) and it was a bit dead, but it was busy and energetic by the time we left. We'll come here again next time we are in the city.
Tried first time for birthday lunch with out of town friends. I had mushroom pizza and they went with soup and salads. We all enjoyed. Good service; lots of refills of water and iced tea.
Best of all...I had mentioned the birthday girl arriving and after our meal, our waiter brought a slice of yummy chocolate mousse cake with a candle blazing! We sang a spirited happy birthday and it really made our adventure complete!
Recommend you check it out!
Visiting SF for a meeting and wanted to grab a quick & good dinner. Opentable found SOMA for me, & I headed over. It is a bit loud, but the food and service were good. I was there early since I’m on East Coast time, & while it was boisterous, I enjoyed my meal at SOMA.
Close to the convention center and a very friendly staff!
Had the lamb burger. Delicious.Great spot for dinner before heading to the Warfield
40 min for a cold burger ...... and 2 salads .....
The Open Table version of the breakfast menu is incorrect. We would not have chosen this place had we known the changes.
Amazing pizza pasta and salads.
This restaurant, which is adjoined to the Pickwick Hotel one block in from Market Street, is conveniently situated near many popular destinations in Downtown SF. I chose this restaurant because it was relatively affordable, it didn't seem too hard to get a table, and it offered a large selection of good old-fashioned Americanized Italian food.
While the service was quick and polite and the food was delicious, I found the restaurant to be quite noisy, and a fair amount of the noise wasn't even coming from the bar.
We had a large group and they put us in an alcove that was perfect. Everyone enjoyed their food and our waiter was great.
Good cost performance
Great dinning experience!
Food was very good. Service want bad but not top notch either. Servers were friendly but took a while to get to us.
