The food was average. A bit over priced for average. They told us to sit anywhere and were brought menus fairly quickly but waited 15 minutes for a server in a restaurant with only 3 tables with guests. They hadn't told him we were by the divider. The food waa a bit slow but hot when we got it. Again, if the price was better we might return.
Waiter was rude and condescending. Fish and Chips was 1 piece of fish for $18.00. Worst restaurant I’ve ever been to.
Would be better if smoking wasn’t allowed on the patio.
Good burgers and sandwiches! Too hot to sit outside! Hope to try again!
Square Celt really needs to up the quality of its food. Great place to hear music, hang out with friends, but our group of 10 went to dinner elsewhere because
No one likes the food.
When we arrived service wasn’t very good because they were short staffed. The food took forever and the mimosas had more orange juice than bubbly but we were compensated for the appetizer coming out with the food we spent a lot of money for food and drinks and the drinks for the price were terrible as far as alcohol content. Great atmosphere and once more staff showed up they were excellent i plan to go again maybe minus the drinks this time. But great place to celebrate any occasion.
The weather was warm and so everyone was sitting outside. There were only 2 servers so there were long waits for drinks and food. They tried their best though.
Service was outstanding. Food not so good.
Out of 4 people in the group 3 were disappointed in their food. Fish n chips was over cooked and rubbery. Other meals were ok at best.
If you are going for good service, and bar items you will be happy otherwise I would pass if you are going for the food.
Our only issue was the buffet line could have been organized better but it was quick and delicious and our server was great
We used to love this restaurant as a immediate and large extended family, so much so that my 10 year old son chose it for his 10th Birthday. We arrived monday and there was a baby shower in the main dining room. We had previously set a reservation for 10 which they were rude and not prepared for. We sat down and I almost felt bad for our waitress. We had 10 ppl and 3 kids were included in that number. Mon-Thursday is Kids Eat Free however the food was uneatable will a rancid smell and taste. Also our bill reflected the full price for the "Kids Eat Free " meals. We also had a reservation for 6:15 and ordered right away. Our food did not arrive until 7:15 and most meals tasted fine but as previously mentioned, the kids meals were way off. Drink refills were completely no available and requested more than 3x before receiving. We also asked for a Birthday ice cream/cake offering and the check. The check came (incorrect) but the birthday celebration did not. My 10 year old son was very hurt as it was a big birthday with his grandparents and cousins and nothing ever came. We finally just sang happy birthday without a candle or dessert and went home at 7:45pm. THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE AND DISGUSTING TO DO TO A CHILD. In the past my family has held 2 showers, several family celebrations and regular outings there but I seriously doubt we will EVER be back. SHAME ON YOU SQUARE CELT for accepting a reservation and not having the staff to handle it....
It was a fun brunch. The food was good. The options were amazing. We will definitely be coming back!!
Had a great time outdoors, despite the rain and hail. Room to move tables under canopy and still enjoyed the warm weather. Despite being only table outside, our waitress never forgot us! Look forward to going back.
I loved the ambience. The service wasn't great but also not bad. The food was very good for the price and the amount. Don't order the sangria, it was pure ice!
I will return again in summer because they have a very cute outside area.
My family was in town for the Easter weekend and we went to Square Celt for the Saturday Brunch. We sat in the bar and the room is nice. Lots of TVs but not the sound from the TV which was nice. Music playin was good. They were short on servers and the bartender did everything. His attitude was kind and patient and did a very good job considering the circumstances.
Shelby called to confirm my reservation and since it was a nice warm night asked if I would also like to sit outside and they would accommodate my reservation for the inside a couple hours after. Waitresses were amazing. Food equally amazing. We watched a final four game after cocktails outside then watched the band. Love it there!!!!
Apps where absolutely amazing. Main course was Mac ad cheese and grilled chicken... absolutely tasteless. Will def go back for drinks and apps... nothing more
I brought my sister for her birthday and she loved it!! Thanks again for a great experience.
We were a group of six. Four of us had the all-you-can-eat fish fry; the other two had the salmon. We were all very happy with our meals; the price was reasonable ($14 for the fish fry); and the service was very attentive.
We went on a Monday afternoon for the advertised corned beef and cabbage. There were 4 adults and 6 kids. The corned beef was overcooked. The cabbage was raw. The kids ordered a steak which was overcooked. A burger which was overcooked and chicken strips which were all overcooked!! We were the only customers in the restaurant and the service was terrible. You would think our waitress was the cook and waitress. So disappointing.
We had to wait around 10 minutes before someone came to the hostess stand. We were also charged $8 for the children’s buffet after my nephew had a few bites of a donut I had then fell asleep. Seems kind of insane to charge a 3 year old a full buffet when he had four bites of a donut.
Great brunch! Fresh and loads of selections! They ran out of plates so we had to wait for round 2. Service was marginal at best. Wonderful value especially with a BOGO!
I love to go to Square Celt when there is a band playing that I want to see. I prefer the warmer weather so I can be outside in the beer garden. They have a beautiful beer garden. My friends and I got there before the band started and it was super loud with everyone talking, it gets much worse with the music. However, the food is excellent and the entertainment never disappoints!
I requested a high top table close to the stage for 10 people. I was given a corner booth that was furthest from the stage. There is no real dance floor. Not an ideal venue for a band.
We had great food, service, and the band Maggie Speaks was all great!
I’ve been here several times, but it was my friends first time and they absolutely LOVED it and plan to visit again in the near future.
It was trivia night which was fun my friends food was over cooked but other than that we had a great time
Good food and nice atmosphere. The service was a bit slow, but still friendly. I would go back again.
Some friends and I made reservations at 11:45a for Sunday brunch. Because we made the reservation so early, the restaurant wasn’t nearly as crowded as I hoped. The hostess was super friendly and we were seated almost immediately. Once we got to our table, we waited 20 minutes (not an over exaggeration) before our waitress came over to take our initial order. Our intended 1.5-2 hr visit turned to 3 hrs because we literally never saw our waitress. In the entire time we were there she visited our table 4 times but was miraculously able to get the other tables in her section in and out before us. When we looked for her, she was constantly in a whole other section talking to and hanging around other patrons (which i can only assume were friends or relatives) We had to ask a bus boy to hunt her down so we could get our check. I’ve never received such poor service.
Came to watch the Bears game. Food and service were good. Had to send back the nachos as they added peppers but we had ordered them without. (Food sensitivities) Bears game was turned on late.
Great food, good value, fun atmosphere. Fantastic fish & chips and burgers are the bomb!
Table WAY too small for party of 14.
Thank goodness only 12 sat down.
Server could have been friendlier.
Great drinks and music.
I normally enjoy the food at this place. I just didn’t enjoy the cheese curds as well as my meal. All you can eat fish. I had one serving. It was served to me and had an horrible fish smell. Once started eating it, I feel it was possibly old and/or over cooked. My wife’s prime rib had to be old and tasteless.
fun place, good food and service. Interesting drink specials .
Service here is horrible every time I come here and it hasn’t gotten better even after talking to numerous managers at each visit. It’s a shame bc the food and atmosphere are amazing.
Server needed more training on how to have customer service. She brought wrong order, order items where missing, and not attentive.
We had a 6:30 reservation for outside dining. When we arrived we were told that there was a private event on the patio. We could not be seated until 7:00. It was suggested that we sit in the bar until 7:00. The hostess took down our name but had no idea we had a reservation. After 7:00, she started seating people on the patio. I had to remind her of our reservation. She was having difficulty finding our table. At that point, a women with an Ipad who probably had the reservation information stated that our reservation was for 6:30. So, I guess she was implying that we were late. I informed her that we were there on time but they couldn’t seat us. No apology was provided. The waitress was great and so was the food but the process of getting a table with a reservation was vey annoying.
Brunch is a very good value, but the service of the wait staff needs much improvement.
Let me start by saying that our group went here on a recommendation from a friend who has never had a bad experience here. A co-worker says the same, has used it for many family get-togethers.
This was our experience.
We arrived at 6 p.m., the time of our reservation. There wasn't a hostess stationed up front so we waited. And waited. Eventually I peaked my head into the restaurant and caught the eye of a waitress walking by to serve a table. She then walked back without approaching us. Finally a man came up front but told us he didn't work there. He was getting crayons for his kids and said we should seat ourselves.
We wanted to sit outside so I approached a server to ask if that was ok and it was. I then made a point of stating that we had an Open Table reservation and wanted to make sure it was acknowledged that we honored the reservation.
We chose a spot on the patio and waited again. I finally asked if we could have menus. It was 7 p.m. before we were served our drinks and two glasses of wine were given to the wrong people. It took another 10 minutes to get the correct order. No apology offered.
When the food arrived it was up to us to make sure it was placed in front of the correct person. The server just basically handed it out at one end of the table essentially NOT serving.
Also, there were two guys sitting at the outside bar smoking and the breeze was carrying to our table. I asked the server about the smoking and she said they were permitted to smoke in that area. I believe that is against IL law.
I consider myself to be a decent tipper as I know servers work hard. But this was unacceptable. No apology for the slow service (if you're understaffed then say so). But they were not that crowded. No apology for the wine mix up. No sign at the entrance to let you know you should seat yourself. I left $1.
The Open Table reservation was not acknowledged so I had to call back the next day to get that corrected.
Will not return.
I love sitting outside, but the one thing that ruins it is the smoking.
Great place for happy hour and food was on point. Service was pleasant and I would definitely come back again
The service here is horrible. Each time I think it will be better, but then it’s not. I will find other places with better service from now on.
