Street and Co.
Food was delicious.
Charming spot with amazing food and service.
Blackened swordfish was delicious!
Food was fantastic! Easily in the top ranks in New England for fish quality and preparation. Everyone loved their entrees and the shared appetizers. The only reason it is not rated higher is the open kitchen in the center dining room was ( and always has been very smokey from poor ventilation over the kitchen area. If you are seated there ( we were) you must change your clothes or smell like kitchen cooking odors the remainder of the evening. Coats may need a dry cleaning. If you have breathing problems ask for the end dining room.
Warm and cozy! We had a seat by the kitchen which was fun because we could watch how hard their team was working. We both got skillet pastas -- HUGE portions -- and delicious.
Best martinis in Portland Maine! Very good bread. Relaxed atmosphere and professional service.
The eggplant dip was not that great. The sole francaise was soggy and the green beans were heavily saturated with onion. The server was excellent. The panna cotta was delicious.
In hopes of a quiet dinner we went early. Still too loud for us to have an easy conversation
Food was good but slow, service was great. Wait staff was attentive and brought extra appetizer to make up for entree being late. Not sure that we would go again but it was a pleasant experience.
Excellent service. Our waitress, Alice, was great with recommendations and suggestions. She picked the best wine to go with our entrees.
The food was absolutely delicious. The gnocchi were phenomenal...they could have been a whole meal. Everything was beautifully seasoned...no need for salt and pepper shakers on the table.
Very interesting and eclectic decor with some of the best background music.
I eat at Street and Co. any chance I get. A truly great dining experience.
Beautiful place. The food is amazing
The food was good, not great. The staff was fine but it was so busy, we had to wait a bit for service. It was rather noisy.
Mine and my boss’s favorite for seafood
Classic Portland restaurant with food, ambience, service and cocktails that go toe-to-toe with the venues at the top of the media food chain-- places we now avoid because of hype and attitude of staff. Give me Street & Company. Feels like the good ol days before Bon Appetit and other media outlets went wild on the Portland food scene.
We had a perfect (Thursday) evening at Street and Co. Two of us had cod and local bean stew with countneck clams, one of us had shrimp with butter and garlic and I had yellowfin tuna with marinated peppers, fingerling potatoes and broccolini. Mine was delicious, one of the best things I've eaten recently. My three companions were very pleased, as well. Service was very attentive but low-keyed and unobtrusive - exactly the way it should be. Wine, salad and desserts were also wonderful. Our reservation was early, at 5:30; we were seated exactly on time.
Street & Co. is a great restaurant located in a cool location on a cobblestone street in Old Port. Very charming. The ambiance is good inside as well with an open kitchen. The food was fantastic. We ordered osyters, grilled lobster over linguine and the scallops in pernod. My wife said the lobster was one of the best meals she's ever had. The oysters and scallops were very good too. Definitely recommend.
Dirty bathrooms. Trying to eat out of screaming hot, old, wobbly, greasy kitchen pans is very awkward and unappetizing. Especially on uneven copper tables, everything on our table felt like it was going to fall over at any moment. Grilled lobster pasta was very disappointing for $41, nothing but commercially made pasta swimming in way too much garlic and literally nothing else, additionally we were not given anything to clean out hands after having to clean a lobster without even cracked claws. Scallops were good, but for $37 it would have been nice to eat if from a dish. We had been looking forward to this dinner from all the good reviews, and were fairly disappointed.
Too noisy, crowded (people with no manners when eating beside us) and the ambience was zero. Food was good, but the menu is basically fish only.
Made reservations several months in advance. Great location, inside was energetic and warm, food was yummy yet felt we were being rushed out the door the whole time. Would have liked to enjoy the experience with my parents more...
We have eaten at Street and Co for 20+ years. We stay in in Kennebunkport, but make an annual trip to Portland to eat there. This year was the 1st time ever that we didn’t love our meals. The change in the menu was one thing we didn’t care for. It offered set menu options for the fishes instead of offering options for cooking and flavor choices.
The other disappointment was the Mussels. They have changed from PEI mussels to locally sourced Bangers Island mussels. The mussels were larger and not as sweet as the PEI mussels, even the sauce they were pan seared in wasn’t as flavorful. We heard the whole locally sourced story from our server, but feel that sacrificing flavor wasn’t worth the change. Basically it wasn’t broke, so why did they try to fix it!
Great food, excellent service
Had a wonderful time with my daughter! We were celebrating her promotion. The waitress was just spot on, timing was perfect and the food just great. Thank you Street and Company for a lovely time.
Great ambiance and feel. Good food. Very friendly staff.
Outstanding food and service. Our meals were cooked to perfection and our server, Kathleen, was attentive and very professional. It was a celebration of our 30th anniversary and she brought us a handwritten congratulations card!!! Very special place.
Best seafood I’ve ever had
We were able to get a 5:30 reservation on a Thursday evening before a concert(shocking). Street never disappoints with great seafood and a good wine selection. The portions are quite big for a fine dining restaurant and prices are similar to other top rated Portland choices. We had the scallops and sole and both were excellent. Started with a fresh tomato and cucumber salad that was great with the Standard Baking bread. Street is small and loud with a vibrant kitchen that makes it a little difficult to chat, but overall outstanding.
Sorry to say but my favorite restaurant in Portland is no more. We arrived 1/2 hour early for our reservation and was ignored by the bartender, was seated promptly at our reserved time in a table near the wall that A- had zero lighting and B- was so tilted to the side that my water glass repeatedly slid off the table. Was greeted promptly by a young waiter that delivered our food without any conversation whatsoever. Lobster Diavolo was super salty and the lobster was gelatinous, nearly raw. When we sent the lobster back to have it cooked we were told that "this happens this time of year as the shells are thicker"..... Well then, if you know that they need more cooking time cook them longer! Was ignored the rest of the evening, would have liked a re-fill of both our drinks as well as the water but we cut our losses and went elsewhere. Really unfortunate because they used to have great service and outstanding food.
Pasta dishes have lost something. Not that good.
Meal took a very long time, but did get an appetizer from the kitchen.
Anniversary dinner. Favorite restaurant in Old Port, Portland Maine
The food and service were excellent. My wife and I each had the sole . We vacation in Maine every year, and we always make sure we dine at street and company. I really think their sole dish is the best dinner I have ever had anywhere. Absolutely amazing.
Great service, imaginative menu, lively atmosphere
We had a great meal. The service was great and we would highly recommend.
This is our favorite spot in Portland. We make it a point to go there a couple times a year. The food and service is outstanding every time we go. Reservations are hard to get. I recommend calling them directly rather than using their e-reservations.
Have been to this restaurant many times and the consistency is amazing. I have never had a bad meal. The service is terrific and the drinks and wine list are fairly priced. I had the sole Francaise which is always amazing. I was hopeful they had their cioppino which was not a special that night. If they have it, order it. Also the octopus appetizer is great. The pecan pie is the best. Unlike their other restaurants, the noise level is tolerable. Highly recommend this restaurant if you like any kind of fish. Consistent over all the years.
Our server was extremely knowledgeable, friendly and helpful - she was able to educate us as to where all of the fish was sourced, the wines that paired well with the food, and the ingredients in our meals. The atmosphere is lovely - I especially enjoy the open kitchen and the dried herbs hanging from the beams. The noise level was 100% appropriate - quiet when we arrived at 5:45 and louder as the evening progressed, but not in a disturbing way. I wish I remembered our server's name - she was fantastic!
The lobster diablo was delicious! It was more than enough for 2 people.
Amazing meal! Lobster Fra Diavolo was fantastic, Easily enough for three people, if you add another lobster :-) ! Our server Kathleen was wonderful too.
Food was good. Oysters were excellent. Service was terrible.
