We stopped for lunch at Stripers before heading to busy Dock Square for the Prelude. It was easy to find and had plentiful parking.
When we arrived, there was no host at the stand, and we asked the bartender if she could seat us. She tracked down the waiter/host, and he sat us a beautiful table for five per our reservation. We ordered champagne before making a food decision. When the waiter returned for our order, some in the party wanted to try one of the handcrafted cocktails on the menu, and sadly the waiter explained that they did not have the ingredients. We asked for a pitcher of Sangria instead, but there was not enough on hand for a pitcher. We stuck to the Prosseco. We decided to order an assortment of appetizers rather than lunch with guidance from the waiter. The food ranged from excellent (Brussel sprouts) to good Avacodo fries. The Arancino was just ok.
The dining room is beautiful - clean and bright, mid-century feel overlooking the water. I can't give an informed review of the meals, but the appetizers were fine. It was disappointing that the bar was not well stocked - our check average would have been more robust if it had.
I want to go back for dinner - I am crossing my fingers that everything on the menu would be available.
Striper's does not disappoint. Everyone is always smiling and helpful. The presentation, portion-size and taste of each meal was perfect. And in this particular case, I was able to get a reservation for 4 of us for Christmas Prelude weekend just a couple of weeks before. Can't ask for more than that!
This is the second year we have gone to Striper's for Thanksgiving dinner. Always a delicious meal. Highly recommend!
Went for Thanksgiving buffet. Outstanding in all respects. Although everything was delicious, the gravy stands out as unbelievable. At the end of dinner, they handed out turkey sandwiches which we grilled the next day - best sandwich ever, possibly because of the bread, combined with turkey, stuffing and cranberry. View is incomparable of the river and associated landscape.
We were the only patrons in the restaurant and the service was still extremely slow.
Pork schnitzel was delicious and haddock, too. Cocktails and wine we tried were good, too. This restaurant is away from the bustle of Dock Square, and a nice quiet spot for brunch and dinner. View of Kennebunk River can't be beat!
Beautiful location. The food was really not good.
It was post summer season and I don't think the restaurant was expecting to be busy. They were a bit under staffed.
Great place, view beautiful, especially at sunset, staff friendly and nice, we went 2 nights in a row, fish was cooked to perfection, lobster bisque was as good, wished it was a bit hotter, veggies were good, fettuccine with pesto was delicious, and cobbler was delicious, would eat there again on next visit
The scenery is beautiful, if you are lucky enough to be there for a sunset it is spectacular, the food is very good, we dined there 2 nights, we had the haddock and my husband the swordfish, both cooked perfect, we also had a beet salad another night and the fettuccine with the pesto , delish, staff excellent, would recommend
Worst meal ever. Over cooked and over battered fish on the fish and chips, calamari that looked like onion strings and was over cooked and fish chowder with lots of potato but 2 pieces of fish. After the bad apps my wife would not even order a meal...had a ceasar salad instead...nothing special about that either.
Great meal at a fantastic restaurant!
My wife and I were celebrating or 36th anniversary and everything was perfect! Thank you to Chef Nick and all the staff at Stripers for helping to make it a special night!
Lobster was tough, over cooked. Beautiful view and great service.
Menu was very basic. Come for the view not the food
Very casual and friendly. Not what we expected. We were looking for the best fine dining restaurant in Kennebunkport and this was not it. But the food was good and the folks friendly.
Chowder was great. Swordfish and cod tacos were very good as well. Only disappointment was the fudge chocolate cake. Cake was very dry likely because it had been refrigerated too long. Since we rarely eat dessert that was a bit of a letdown. Otherwise, very good meal.
Fish was bland and very small
Made reservations 2 days before arriving through open table. Only available seating was at 8:30 very late but took it knowing we would be able to get a meal. Got there a little before our reservation time and was told they had a private wedding reception and canceled all reservations. We never got a message from them or open table. Very disappointed in both and then had to find somewhere else that we could eat in crowded and rainy Kennebunkport. Not happy
Great service and excellent food...all with an amazing view!
Our server, Ben S. was fantastic! He truly made our evening an enjoyable experience. Thank you!
The hole place need ‘’love’’....inluding the menu and the wine list !
We had out of town guests and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal. I started with the mussels then had the haddock which was delicious. Everyone else enjoyed their meal too. Ambiance was great with a nice sunset. Waitress was friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and attentive.
Menu choices and food were both great, outdoor seating provided excellent ocean views and the service was perfect. We easily made a reservation, and upon arrival, we were seated immediately.
Service was very slow but pleasant. Food was mixed. Some of it was excellent. Sometimes it arrived cold (service issue), a hair in one plate and undercooked potatoes. The salmon was cooked excellent but then served with the sauce drizzled on the skin-side up.
Most excellent Gin martini! Outstanding service . . . . baked haddock and salmon were good; cod tacos are very good; angus burger, not so much. Great view of sunset.
My husband and I had a wonderful evening having dinner outside on a magical summer evening.
Our seafood dinner was delicious and served professionally.
Lovely water views, excellent food and service. Comfortable seating, a wonderful place to entertain our guests.
Maybe the worst food I have ever had! The calamari tasted like something bought in the frozen section of a supermarket then cooked, then frozen, then microwaved. I can’t believe a restaurant would serve food that bad!!!!
Food was good although I found the lobster roll to be flavorless. Service was poor. View is lovely but inside was noisy . Nothing to dull sound.
It took a long time to get drinks because the bar was ”backed up.” The food was good and they were nicely accommodating for a Celiac diner. They even brought out GF bread so our daughter could enjoy bread with dinner. It took quite a bit to get the food, but it looked and tasted great once it arrived. The view was beautiful.
Perfect in every way. Such a delightful meal in such a special place. Love everything about Stripers!!!!
Beautiful setting and a view to die for but the food was low quality and clearly cooked from frozen. A real disappointment that the food did not come anywhere near the quality that the views present.
Location outstanding. Great for families.
Service a little slow
We arrived at 5 for drink and because it was happy hour we probably waited 20 minutes for our drinks. We were quickly seated and midway through our meal had to open the door because the room was so hot. (So did the people next to us) Our waitress never told us the special. We asked because we overheard the other waitress telling her customers. My husband ordered the swordfish with a mushroom side. The swordfish was dry and they brought asparagus instead of the mushroom. Overall the service was slow. Doubt we would be back.
After reading many poor reviews, we decided to try it for dinner anyway. I’m glad we did because we did not experience any of the negative things others had to say.
We were seated immediately-outside, upon request. There was a function going on that was just winding down. That was explained to us from the beginning.
We found the service to be excellent. Our server, Mimi, was very attentive and friendly. Our food arrived promptly and everything was delicious.
We would return to this restaurant.
Horrible! Bad service! Horrid food!!
Restaurant right on the water - beautiful at sunset. Definitely recommend.
The service was slow and the Haddock that I had was dried out. My wife’s Lobster roll was very good.
Service and ambience was excellent with a beautiful sunset view.
This establishment is quiet but fun with polite and knowledgeable staff. The food was amazing. We had a wonderful evening!
