    A DC institution with authentic character. Warm ambience, excellent drinks, good food, attentive service. Upstairs rooms can be a bit loud and difficult for anyone with difficulty hearing.

    Tabard Inn for dinner - food was inspired. Wine selection was very good. Service at the table was prompt. I will go back. I felt a little under-dressed. Next time, I’ll wear a sport coat. Open Table reservation times were limited (plenty of open tables after our reservation time).

    We enjoyed the experience and will likely return. The new menu needs some refinement. The Coq su vin was outstanding but the grilled monkfish was mediocre. The honey cake was excellent.

    What a wonderful dinner and evening on Tabard Inn's patio! This destination has been a favorite and for the night's birthday celebration it again deserves high marks. The four of us started with the half-bottle of Laurent Perrier champagne so we could toast the birthday celebrant, then we switched to a fine red wine for the meal. We tried different starters and entrees -- all were excellent. The lamb was especially delightful - the seasonings and vegetable side complemented the lamb which in less talented hands might have seemed too heavy. The service also was wonderful, with the server checking on us to ensure we enjoyed the meal but without hovering. The back patio creates pockets which makes small parties feel more intimate and private - perfect for our little gathering. Highly recommended for a special meal, and if you have a special event in mind, check out their private rooms for larger groups. You'll be glad you did.

    We had an absolutely delightful evening at the Tabard Inn. From start to finish ... entering the door to the warmest of greetings from the staff and receiving nothing short of stellar table service by an expertly trained staff who did not let any detail go unnoticed or unattended. The menu was varied and exciting, creative dishes with a range of deep, delicious flavors and locally sourced, high quality ingredients; one that caters for vegetarians and non-vegetarians alike. The herb and garlic french fries are crave worthy! We went on a Sunday, one of two nights they offer live Jazz in the lounge (the staff member who serviced the lounge made us feel so at home it was like we had known her - and received impeccable service from her - for years and years! What a gem SHE is!). I am anxious to go back to try the wide range of appetizers, and to take part in the Steak Frite. The lemon tart is also calling my name. THANK YOU to Chef Ian and Chef Matt, for a memorable evening that included connection with an incredible staff who we will remember and an wonderful menu that is beautifully and lovingly prepared.

    One of my best recent dining experiences in Washington, thanks to a new team in the kitchen. Interesting flavors in the leek salad and the lamb shoulder, and my friend's onion tart was flaky and savory. Thank you to whoever put some half-bottles of wine on the list! Attentive service.

    The Tabard Inn. The ambiance was fantastic. The service was great. The food was also really good. I did not care for the red pepper beignets. For the money, the portion sizes were small. But I would go back.

    We celebrated our rehearsal dinner at the Tabard Inn. We went back for our 15th anniversary. We had dinner in the patio. Everything was stellar especially the food and service. It was quiet so we could actually have a conversation. It’s definitely a memorable dinner.

    It used to be consistently good place to go for a casual dinner; not anymore. The food is definitely got much worse compared to even a year ago. The service is below average. I will not be coming back.

    The food and service were both excellent. My only complaint was the limited selection of entrees, but my wife and I ordered soups, appetizers, salads, and deserts, and we had a fabulous meal.

    Wonderful place. It’s so different and charming and the staff is incredibly friendly. I do think it’s a bit on the pricey side and that the menu should have a little more fluctuation. But it’s always fantastic.
