The The service is friendly and the food and atmosphere are reliably excellent!
Tarantino's has been a favorite of ours for 25 years.
Perfect! Casually elegant, a treasure in Chicago.
A lovely night. 4 friends/2 couples. Great food, great service! Did not feel rushed at all. We lingered a bit and did nor feel pressured to hurry. Really a nice night!
Everything was very good, except my wife's pasta dish was not to her liking. Pasta wasn't done quite enough.
It did take a long time to get the initial drinks but are waiter was apologetic and funny and doing so.
The famous pork chop is indeed very good. Portions are very large, easily could be split between two.
Overall, it was a very nice experience.
Love the place. Food was great as was the service. It is very loud, but we still had a great time. Would definitely go back.
The food was mediocre at best.
It was sadly not somewherecany of the four of us would return despite good service.
Dinner and service was excellent as always!
Great neighborhood place.
First time at Tarantino's. I stumbled upon it as it was close to a tie shop (Named -Tie Shop) I was interested in, also located on Armitage. Upon entry the Hostess took charge of my shopping bag and an art piece I also had purchased.
I started with a delicious cocktail made of apple cider, bourbon and a cinnamon stick; it tasted like a liquid cookie. (Yummy) I began my meal with a tasty heirloom and mozzarella salad that although appropriately portioned left me wanting more. I selected the Fusili for my entrée, pasta with spicy sausage and creamy tomato sauce with a bit of kick. (Wonderful dish) I wrapped dinner with some lemon sorbet and fresh berries.
The Staff (Hostess, Waitress and Bussing Personnel) were great, they were very attentive, but not trying to rush you through the meal. Not sure what my Wife had? But, as a really picky eater that had no complaints I am to assume she enjoyed the experience as well???
In all it was a nice time, and I was proud to support a small local business in Chicago, My Home Town!
Great restaurant! My wife and I had our first date as Chicago residents here and go back every year!
My family and I are repeat customers of this neighborhood spot. Food and service is consistently good (pork chop is our fave) as we’ve never had a bad meal here. Close street parking is usually available. My only complaint is the noise level gets high after about 7pm, but we will keep coming back as we are addicted to the pork chop :)
Terrible experience and unacceptable
Ordered one glass of wine two appetizers and a chicken dish
No one brought bread ( tables around us got bread)
Server never came back to check on us for 45 minutes!!!!!!!! I asked where the food was, server just said the consensus was the kitchen was behind and food would be out soon; we said 5 minutes or we’re leaving( in the mean time no apology either). She came back with the news that the kitchen was just working on the food and it would be at least ten minutes ...wrong answer! Left the restaurant. Barely an apology from the server ( totally clueless ) and the worst experience ever! no food no service; get a new expediter in your kitchen and a server who knows what she’s doing.
Our favorite Italian restaurant in Lincoln Park. If the prosciutto-wrapped ricotta-stuffed figs are available, get them. Your taste buds will thank you.
Soft shell crab special was really good, but salty. In fact all the entrées were salty but very tasty. Service was good. Nice variety of menu choices. We have eaten here before, we will be back again.
This place was not good. The waitress didn't greet our table for a long time. We ordered pasta which was not cooked - it was hard. And the chicken parm was also really bad - very tough meat. With so many great Italian restaurants in the neighborhood, we won't be back.
Nothing special. Salad dressing had no flavor, ambience was minimal, but hand-cut sweet potato fries were delicious.
Wow! So happy my daughter recommended the restaurant! Everything was delicious. My husband had the pork chop, to die for! Service was perfect! Will definitely come back!
I would guess Tarantino's has better days than what we had. They've been in the neighborhood for quite a long time.
I usually like to order from the "specials" menu and this visit was no exception. We reserved for 5pm, their opening time. We entered the restaurant a few minutes before 5 and one of the staff shouted "we're not open yet, give us 15 minutes". Perhaps they might change their opening time to 5:12pm to avoid confusion.
Seated at an outside table which was pleasantly away from the main street.
When a waitress finally appeared, she took our drinks order. The specialty drinks were well-made and not the usual. The Watermelon Mojito was a nice idea.
We saw a salmon carpaccio on the menu, and had that as the starter. The salmon was paper thin, and I thought overseasoned.
I ordered the veal parmigiana and my friend had Alaskan halibut, a very common item in Chicago during the summer. Both however were overcooked. The veal had a burnt edge around it, and the halibut was overcooked and dry.
We had ordered a side of potatoes, but were surprised to find they were chunks of sweet potato. No harm done, but we might have ordered something else had we known. Was it clear on the menu? Don't know.
Server was first rate. Wish the food was better.
We did enjoy the dinner but some elements were better than others. The arugula salad was nice. The Halibut special was excellent and fairly priced. Nice selection of drinks. Pleasant atmosphere. Disliked the pizza with what looked like a pre-fab crust---skip it. The pasta was just OK. Did not taste homemade but was filling and flavorful. I do not think we should only get bread on request. Either they should bring to us or ask if we want any. I would return if I was in the neighborhood but would not seek out the restaurant, and would not order pizza there.
The patio is lovely and it’s in a charming neighborhood The food is average at best. The staff was delightful. It was nice sitting outside, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a good Chicago dinner.
I had the delicious soft shell crab and my friend had a terrific farfalle with smoked chicken , tomatoes and garlic ! We shared an heirloom tomato salad that was quite good. We both enjoyed our wine and the patio was lovely ! A delightful spot !
Tarantino's is such a great, dependable, and enjoyable dining spot. Highly, highly recommend. Our wait staff, Leeza [sp?], could not have been more helpful, attentive, and patient. The food was great, as it consistently is. Tarantino's is the proverbial 'neighborhood gem' that I recommend time and again.
Birthday and anniversary
Liza is awesome every time
My wife & I have eaten at Tarantino’s many times because we live in the neighborhood and it’s never a disappointment. The food is always delicious and the service is excellent. It’s especially nice this time of year to eat in their outside dining area. A true neighborhood gem.
Tarantino's is my favorite neighborhood restaurant. Not only is their menu fantastic—the entire staff is so warm and welcoming. The interior decor of the restaurant is lovely—I love that there isn't a TV is sight. Perfect for a spontaneous evening or a planned date night. The patio in the summer is a great extension of the restaurant and is perfectly positioned on the quiet side street. Tarantino's remains one of my favorite Chicago restaurants, even after seven years of weekly dinners. It is a true gem.
Food and service was great, it’s a smaller restaurant so the noise level was a little high with everyone trying to have conversations.
Horrible food, no flavour on the Shrimp risotto. It was dry, no creamy and not even arborio rice. The kid pasta was very dry too. We told the server, but they didn’t take from the check, even when both plates were almost uneaten.
My impression is that they don’t care since it is a neighbor restaurant where their customers are secure, and if you don’t like the food it’s “your problem”.
Manager never came to talk with us.
As usual, food was excellent. Cowboy Steak for me, Hallibut for the wife. The Truffle Fries served with the steak were delicious. Only negative was the lack of recognition for my 72nd Birthday, which was notated on Open Table.
We love Tarantino’s. It is our neighborhood go to.
Fathers Day Eve
Some of our dishes were very good, some average. Slowish service on a Friday night.
Great as always! Will continue coming again and again.
Order the muscles, it was outstanding!
Birthday. The one order was wrong, but they took it back quickly and fixed it. Comped the cake for the birthday which was nice.
Third visit here and we always enjoy ourselves. Our waitress was attentive but did not hover over the table, food was good (my wife’s risotto was outstanding), overall a pleasant experience.
I’m definitely going back, I used to go and stopped because the food was fine but now it’s great. I had the black pasta with shrimp and mussels can’t wait to go back and have it again, just the right amount of spice.
Great ambiance, food, wine and relaxed. Unfortunately, the waitress was rather curt and pushy for our order. It was Mother's Day so I doubt she wanted to be there. We did fine.
Tarantino's is such a wonderful neighborhood restaurant and they never fail to make us feel welcome, well taken care of and valued. The food is fantastic (the hearts of palm salad is my go-to starter.)
