We went because this restaurant was on Chicago's Best, but it wasn't. Service started out good but was seated in a freezing back room. All of us got our entrees except one of us, and we had to ask for that. Good was just so, so, something that you would get at a chain restaurant. Disappointed.

Unpleasant and slow service. Not worth the trouble. Food was ok so if you are in the area and want decent basic Thai.

I requested a Thai dish called Larb that was not on the menu and they prepared a delicious, perfectly seasoned dish for us.

Made a reservation, had it confirmed, then found out it was closed when we got there. Winter hours, not on website.

Honestly don't go there for thai food. Not up to what they promised to be authentic (I've been to Thailand a few times so I tried a lot of real thai food) and lacking favor/quality. Even some other thai joints in the city are better.

Terrific Thai food in a restaurant without atmosphere. The decor doesn't begin to match the excellence of the food.

We went to the restaurant with a reservation last Saturday night. We had to wait 15 minutes to be seated since no one really acknowledged we were standing there waiting while our table was ready. It took even longer to get water. It was a very bad night for them. Once we gave our entire order right away, tiny pot stickers arrived 20 minutes later and they ran out of crab ragoon. How does that happen at a Thai restaurant. Three of our four dinners arrived and mine took another 10 minutes. The food was good but the presentation I was looking for was not there. No one would know that this is the new restaurant that is owned by Arun's owner. My green tea never arrived and dessert was an afterthought for them when I asked what they recommended. It probably needs to be given another chance but not sure I will.

Me and my family went on Mother's Day to obviously celebrate mom and also my aunt's birthday. We heard about this place from the Chicago's Best tv show as well as word of mouth that it was owned by the same guy who owns Arun's. The place was actually the old police station before they moved down the street (and you kind of have the feeling it still is just by the layout). But, they really did a good job decorating the place. We ordered a couple appetizers, noodle dishes, and beef curry. But when we got the dishes...well, the size of the dish didn't match the price. No doubt, the food was good. But, I feel like I can go to my main Thai restaurant and get more food for the buck. I guess that's one philosophy that was transferred over from Arun's restaurant.

This is the casual eatery by Arun, who owns a very fancy, very good Thai restaurant. Taste of Thai Town has some unique dishes and many of the favorites. We especially enjoyed the Masaman Curry and the Scallop Kabob. The food is very good, the service amazing, so it was hard to understand why they were not busier. If you like Thai food, this place is a great choice.

Excellent food, excellent value. Extensive menu offerings - something for everyone - event the pickiest in the group.

For fans of Arun's this is a great place as it has most of the same dishes available at the high-end restaurant as well as a number of additional items. My wife and kids and I loved it.

We've been to ToTT twice. Both times, loved the food. This past trip, we were with a friend who has been to Thailand several times, and knows the food. She thought it was outstanding, and very authentic. I've had whole fish both times, each time was terrific. Appetizers, including spring roll, crab rangoon, wings, etc, all great. Noodle soups seem most authentic.

When I first heard of a Thai cultural center being opened up in a large, former police station, I heard rumors of multiple restaurants -- fast food, upscale, etc. Instead, the massive space is filled with room after room dedicated to a single restaurant that generally competes with some of the more authentic Thai restaurants in town (Aroy, Rainbow, Rosded, Andy's Thai Kitchen, In-On Thai, etc).

The dining rooms vary dramatically in temperature, the one we were first seated in was about 20 degrees cooler than the main room, and we were moved to a third room (the main one was full - only 7 or so tables) which was still a bit cool but not as cool as the second room. There seemed to be a massive fourth room in back not being used. Ultimately, a lot of empty space. We seemed to be the only group not seated in the main dining area.

Service was very friendly. Note however that while they were byo early on, they are no longer byo. And given that their beer/wine lists are not the least bit interesting, this makes Taste of Thai Town prohibitively more expensive than other local Thai restaurants that are byo, assuming you would like to drink alcohol.

As for the food, it was generally decent but I've had better versions of every dish we tried. Green curry with fishballs featured a slightly diluted green curry and the housemade fishballs seemed a tad grainy. Pad thai was a little too sweet, though I appreciated the whole fried egg on top.

Taro egg rolls were tasty, hot, crisp and not very greasy at all. I liked the gentle sprinkling of fish sauce in the potstickers. Yum woon sen a little lacking in flavor. Desserts were pretty good-taro with coconut and taro custard. Unfortunately, portions seem smaller and prices a little higher than other Thai restaurants in town and the food didn't measure up to the best Thai places I list above.

It was just OK. I was expecting much more because the chef/owner also owns Arun. The prices were a bit a high and the food was just OK.
