The Carbon Bar
We had a great dinner and night out. There were 4 of us and we all enjoyed our main course. The brisket was very tender, the ribs were fall of the bone, the fish was cooked perfectly and everyone loved the mac & cheese. We would certainly return next time we are in town.
Awesome food and great value!!
Food was fabulous. Wine a little pricey. Would recommend.
All good and waitress was great
Great bbq. Brisket, ribs and turkey along with respective sauces were excellent. Great find
The Carbon Bar never fails to deliver. Fun, vibrant and dynamic atmosphere and staff. Great to stop by for a drink at the bar - ask for the Bourbon Cart! - or to slip into the dining room for dinner. The food is delicious. Always.
Amazing BBQ. Superb seafood tower. Can’t quit the cornbread.
I love taking guests to Carbon - everybody is blown away each time.
Has such a fun history as original home of City-tv, and that type of forward thinking creativity lives on in the kitchen and bar teams.
Hi, my friend and I visited the Carbon Bar on Tuesday January 7th. We shared a large seafood tower for two, and several additional oysters.
Myself, I found the food quite acceptable. Not outstanding, but decent. My friend unfortunately was very sick overnight in his hotel room and strongly felt it was due to the food. He has no seafood allergies.
Hi Tony, thanks for your review, although unfortunate. We would really like to know how your guest is doing? Being a lot of fresh seafood on the tower (which was shared and built together) illness could have easily happened to you also if it was something particular on it. Oysters and other shellfish are fresh and can have an occasional bad one but with them coming from a fresh seafood supplier we check to see if any other reports have come in. We hope your guest feels better.
Awesome staff, great food. Overall a very happy time spent at there, perfect
Good food good service
We went for the last sitting on New Year's Eve. The food and service was incredible. Great live band and Miami Vice Themed evening.
Best meat platter in the city! And just love the cocktails!!
Early New Years Eve dinner.
Food was fabulous to my liking extra bonus for having my overproof Vodka that i like and can be found anywhere else in Toronto.
Always great...food, vibe, and there simply isn’t better service in the city.
Food was amazing as usual, the fish arrived under cooked but was quickly fixed by the kitchen, no questions asked.
Very disappointed with the level of service from our server. He barely said hello, was hard to find throughout the night and we even noticed that the other staff (water servers etc) were looking after the table next to us including taking their order because he wasn`t anywhere to be found. Felt like we were bothering him the entire time, he only decided to socialize a minute before he brought us the bill (tip related I am sure). Everyone has off nights and I would hope that this was the case of our server and this isn`t a regular occurence. This won`t stop me from returning because the food is spectacular but service was sub par.
Very modern look - great decor. The food was great.
Our server was wonderful. Exactly the right amount of attentive, helpful and giving us our space. Food excellent as always. Thank you!
Always a great dining experience that delivers!
Our group of 5 really enjoyed our lunch . It was exceptional! Will be back I’m sure .
Arrived before Hockey game so had timeline to meet. They were quick at the door, seated us with our reservation promptly and kept things moving.
I went for lunch and had the Louisiana beans dish with rice, eggplant and zucchini-it was excellent.
The brisket, KFC and Cesar salad was amazing as always. The staff are always warm and welcoming. By far my favorite restaurant.
AMAZING SERVICE AND THE FOOD WAS OUTSTANDING , CANT WAIT TO BACK AND TRY MORE OF THE MENU
I have been to the restaurant a few times and each time the service is impeccable. The staff greet you at the entrance and really cater to every need. Izzy our server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu items as well with the cocktail list. He was extremely fast and efficient with service - everything was timed right. I will definitely be visiting again! Can’t go wrong with great BBQ.
A great place to go with a group of people for dinner - great food, excellent service and awesome vibe!
Our small company went here for our holiday dinner this past Wednesday. The food was great, although there were a few blips in the service. drinks ordered that never showed up, but that was quickly rectified. I think the major problem was that 3 of our guests ordered starters before their main entrees and were served their enters well past the time that everyone finished with their food. I think we assumed that their starters would come before anyone received their enters- considering that was a questioned asked by our server.
We were 6 people and ordered the Pit Master Platter. It was a bit too much food for us, but we were able to pack some home. Food still tasted pretty good the next day! Service was good and had the right level of attentiveness. We went on a Sunday with 7:30pm reservation, and it didn't seem that busy, so there was a good atmosphere and the restaurant wasn't too noisy.
All the items in the platter were tasty, but I personally found the brisket to be on the dryer side and thus, my least favourite (although it had a great smoky aroma). Thinking about the holistic experience of the platter, I would have liked there to be another meat option that was juicier/less dry (e.g., fried chicken was juicy, but the ribs/turkey/brisket were all on the dryer side of the spectrum). French fries and 4 types of meat ended up feeling quite dense, so it would have been nicer if there was an option to swap the fries for other sides. In addition to the platter, we also ordered the mac + cheese, collard greens, slaw, and beans. The best of these sides were the beans, but I could pass on the other ones (fries included). Regardless, I think the platter is a good introduction meal to the restaurant and still worth trying at least once!
The table favourite was the buttermilk fried chicken! I would definitely go back to eat just a plate of fried chicken.
We tried a lot of different dishes and everything was delicious. I ordered the winner winner chicken dinner with a side of mac n cheese. We also ordered a side of mini pogos, beans and shishito peppers. So good.
Dinner was sub par at best. Brunch is much better
Group of seven- sat for almost 20 min without being asked if we even wanted a drink... food was pretty good but service was poor! We may give it another try??
I proposed to my wife to be here this night! I couldn’t have done it as smoothly if it weren’t for the help of the incredible staff here! We were treated like the king I pretended to be and the queen my fiancée truly is! The food was perfect and all the extra touches the staff provided were unexpected and wonderful! It was a terrible stormy evening in Toronto that night but inside the Carbon Bat it was warm and full of love! Well done gang!
Great food and service!
Kaleb answered all of our questions and suggested an amazing dessert that we both loved.
A great place on Queen East with modern, yet warm atmosphere. The service was excellent, from our greeting at the front door, to chatting with the bartender, to our server. We enjoyed the happy hour and appetizer at the bar before moving to our table for a delicious dinner. The flank steak was perfectly cooked and the duck tacos were fresh and flavourful. We are looking forward to returning.
Maybe I'm out of touch with modern downtown restaurants/bars, but I found it quite pricey for the kind of place it is. Putting the cost aside, everything else was excellent.
Fantastic service from the minute we walked in the door to the minute we left. The server was knowledgeable and affable with my guest and I. She knew it was a business lunch and didn't hover around our table which was very much appreciated. It was disappointing to have a poor cut of chicken in my friend chicken sandwich, likely will not order that again.
We dined here for an anniversary on Saturday Nov 16.
Initially we were a little apprehensive- we felt as though we didn’t “fit the mold” of the crowd at this location.
Nevertheless, we persisted.
We ordered a beer at the bar while waiting to be seated- and it was busy! I personally really enjoyed watching the bartenders do their thing; professional, clean, and entertaining- everything you’d want from a bartender.
We were about 10 minutes late to seating, and once we sat down our service was excellent. The manager was very attentive to us, offering champagne to celebrate the anniversary, and our server was excellent.
It was a little late for us to have a full meal, so we had the all beef corn dogs and some more champagne, walking away very pleased with our experience.
The Carbon Bar leans more on the pricey side of things, but in my own opinion, totally worth it.
Thank you for a great evening.
I’ll never go again! Service was great and food was okay. The fellow who sat us down, told us we only had 2 hours for dinner.- meanwhile we were arriving at 8pm. We mentioned that we are disappointing that he was telling us, we need to get out in time , just as we’re arriving. Why do you book tables so close to one another !! We left at10, and well over 8 tables were empty! This place is simply a high end Swiss Chalet with music.
Very much enjoyed our meal. Service was good and venue location was ideal for our stay downtown.
We had a great time. Food was delicious. Server was great. Hard to have a conversation because it gets loud when it is busy.
Nice staff. The bourbon tray was a great experience. Never felt rush to order. Great ambiance.
Everything was great. Loved the atmosphere and food was tasty. Definitely will be coming back.
