The Chefs' House - George Brown College
Best quality/price in the area
appetizers were very good. for the main course, we had pork tenderloin (excellent), and the corned beef which was tough and fatty in parts. I'd give the corned beef 2 out of 5 *, the flavour of the corned beef was very good, but it wasn't cooked properly so it was tough, and it wasn't a good cut of meat.
Excellent food and friendly and attentive service. Would definitely go back.
Enjoyed our lunch very much hope to return as we live in the area.
We enjoyed a very tasty and well presented lunch chosen from an innovative and varied menu. We were made to feel welcome at all times.
Great place and pretty private considering the layout. Lot of attention and great press of food.
Excellent menu and prompt service. We explained we had a 1pm meeting and they quickly responded to our need.
Loved the food! The bread was so so good! The presentation was great!
The service was excellent! The coffee was delicious!
I highly recommend your restaurant!
Beautiful room, brick and wood. Very busy but not rushed feeling. The food was delicious and served with care. We had prix fixe three course. They hit it out of the ball park with the taste of the lentil soup broth. YUM!
Not big portions, but the food and service were excellent and a great value overall.
I hadn't been to the Chef's House since the decor makeover which I really liked - it makes for a cozy ambiance. I loved my 3-course lunch meal - the broiled trout was outstanding as was the soup.
food was very good. Red wine was served cold and it should be at room temperature.👍
Highly recommended- meal was delicious and well presented; service was excellent and amazing restaurant. Both server and supervisor were absolutely brilliant - and couldn't have done more to make this birthday celebration one of the best. Where else in the city can you have such a wonderful experience at such an affordable price? Will certainly return and bring friends!
Sorry we waited so long for our visit, but we will be sure to return soon
very enjoyable evening and very good food.
Servers could be a bit more informed about each dish that is served.
I came with a friend who was coming for the first time. She was very impressed with the whole experience, from the service, the food and the ambience. I love coming here and enjoy seeing the young people in training for their future careers.
Great value for a 3 coarse meal. It's def worth a try.
Amazing service, great food and very reasonable prices. Would highly recommend. While I was finishing up my lunch, I made another reservation for dinner.
This is a school, but these students are not being taught the basic stuff. Bits of food left on table after clearing dishes and before serving desert. Reaching over and across when serving and not even knowing what side you serve a glass of wine.
We observed the table beside us ask three different times to three different students for double expresso's after their meal and way before desert. They long finished their deserts before the third person finally brought the expresso's and it wasn't even very busy. The manager was never seen supervising not even once. The place is great for inexpensive lunch/dinner but I take issue with these students being ready for the real world of service.
Servers are delightful. They fall all over you to provide good service. Food was original and xcellent.
No idea why it's taken me so long to go to The Chefs' House. It definitely won't be as long before i go again!
All the servers were great except one. Who is a young woman wearing eyeglasses in soft pink or cream colour.
Here are the issues:
1. After I paid the cashier, I went to the washroom. On my way back, I passed by this server with the pink/ cream colour framed eyeglasses, and she stopped me bluntly and questioned me in a rude manner if I had paid the bill or not. That was humiliating.
2. When I asked for a second cup of coffee, this same server did not give me a clean, fresh cup. She just poured luke warm coffee in the first cup e saucer which were dirty with drips and stains. The tall manager in a suit noticed it and suggested to her to bring a clean cup for me.
Compliments to the tall manager who is very professional, perceptive and attentive to clients.
Very eager to please servers and student chefs trying to perfect their craft.
I’ve always wanted to go. And was so happy seeing them on the Winterlicious list
The food was definitely delicious, beautifully presented & outstanding comparing the the big chichi names out there. The students are professional yet so very candid !
Making it a highly satisfying dining outing.
Amazing food! Actually, this was my first time eating in the Chef's House, and the food did surprise me. I may try its weekly menu next time.
However, the server was kind of weird. She was keep watching my table, and would come to us and asked for taking our dishes away immediately right after we finishing the food. But maybe she could wait for 1min to ensure we were really done.
In addition, maybe she could practice her English more, since communication is a necessary skill of consumer service. For example, we said,'we had hot water already,' and she responded, 'okay you want some tap water.' We also said, 'Shall we have a glass of water, please?' and she brought us a glass, without water.
I understood that she was a student server, so I still paid her 12% tips.
The service was above what we get in most restaurants! Staff always smiling and our waiter would actually recommend an item. I have been in the hospitality field my whole life. Even in the management program for the Four seasons! Quality and presentation of food was lovely. I will definitely be recommending The Chefs House to friends. Very impressed.
Food was creative nicely presented and very tasty.
Well done !
We decided to book a reservation for lunch on a whim. So glad we did, as the entire meal experience surpassed our expectations. We loved the choice and flexibility of ordering between two menus. It was difficult to choose because of so many excellent choices.
The food was presented attractively for each course. What a bonus that our pasta was served in a heated bowls. The combination of ingredients and textures blended together nicely to create a savoury experience.
Service was attentive and courteous. We loved how the featured chef stopped by our table to talk with us.
All the servers were so sweet and helpful. The food was outstanding. And the overall environment makes me want to come back for dinner next week! These students are all so talented. Would highly recommend!!
Winterlicious menu was delicious! Thoroughly enjoyed, have sent others here already. Great job!
The food was average at best with over cooked brussel sprouts and gorgonzola cheesecake was too over power without balance taken into consideration. The server did not explain the dishes and give introduction to the menu
First time here and it was excellent. The hostess was great and informative. All the staff were attentive and took care of us very well. I would highly recommend The Chef’s House to others.
Really great "Fine Cuisine". Have been there several times and have never been disappointed.
Planning to celebrate my wife's birthday by taking the entire family for dinner at The Chef.
A neat concept. The food was outstanding...the chocolate passionfruit creation probably the best dessert I've ever had in my life, and other dishes were great too, perhaps with the exception of the vegetarian stir fry my partner ordered (though perhaps it just wasn't her style). The server was very eager and perhaps a bit overattentive but that was just inexperience, which is understandable ina student. Overall a lovely evening and a great meal!
I would recommend to eat at chefs house for the main reason to help the students that work there. They try very hard to please. My chicken thigh didnt appear to be fully cooked so I informed the server. The server spoke to the kitchen and was advised the chicken was cooked. The server asked which other entree would I like and had to settle for the vegetarian dish. I should have reordered the chicken and be
assured that it fully cooked. I would still eat there again.
fabulous food, wonderful vitality of the staff, marvellous value, and the desire to return another day in the near future.........what more can I say!!!!!!!!thank you
This sunny, airy and pleasant space is always a nice place to be, but the real draw is the delicious food (at great prices) and the service from George Brown students learning to be hospitality experts. They come from all parts of the world and are always charming.
The onion tart was far too salty and the sorbert had no taste.
Cheescake could have had more flavour.
Good value. Interesting, and tasty, dishes. Everyone pleased w their choices.
Ambiance a bit on the 'cold' side.
Servers pleasant and accommodating.
Support The Chefs' House, support the students.
Always a great experience to go to the Chef's House - the food is always beautifuly presented and the balance of flavours is outstanding! Well done to all the student chefs!
